Tackett, who is himself a distant cousin of Elvis, told the Siskiyou Daily News in a recent interview that he had grown up with a severe hearing impairment. He said that he would put his ear up against the family’s black and white television, mimicing the speech and song of Dean Martin in order to enhance his own elocution.
