I have something really cool for you.

For the past few weeks, I’ve been hard at work putting together this new blog and Facebook fan page, and they’re finally ready to go.
What made me spend the time and money to get these up? The answer is rather unusual.
A few months ago I turned on the TV and saw an infomercial for the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast DVD’sI was captivated, because in those short clips, they showed real men acting the way real men used to, men who came from a different generation that knew adversity.
I laughed so hard I darn near fell off the couch, and just as I was thinking to myself, “they’d never show this on network TV today,” the narrator said the same thing.
And he was right. The girlie men in the media would be up in arms about it, squealing about every “ism” on the planet, tattling to other girlie men about how offensive it was.
A month or so later, I saw the same infomercial and a light bulb went off. See, I know a thing or two about direct response marketing, and I know that if an infomercial continues to run, it’s for one reason only: because people are buying.
Seems like everytime I turn the tv on I see that thing, and I’m not surprised: it strikes a chord with men and with women. Dean Martin was before my time, but that show is timeless. It takes you back to a time when men were men, and women were women and you could have a good time without worrying about some squealer with a smart phone camera or offending a group of whiners somewhere who are looking to be offended.
Then it struck me—more than ever people CRAVE that kind of real world, tell it like it is, break each other’s balls, and have a damn good time. So, I decided to create a blog and fan page in the same spirit as the Dean Martin Variety show.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit I’m no Dean Martin, and would never, ever pretend to be. But I very much admire his style and spirit, and so this new blog and fan page will in that vein—it really is The Last Refuge of the Real Man.
