We've had several viewers interested in the song recorded by the late Dean Martin since we first published the story courtesy viewer, Frank P. De Simon.
Frank wrote to SooNews.ca a few days back informing us of the song referring to Sault Ste. Marie. As a follow up Frank wrote us again
"Two of my aunts told similar but slightly different stories about the song. One said that a soldier wrote it while stationed here during WW2 and the other said that it was a woman who wrote the song. Both said that it was popular in both Soo's during the war years."
Another viewer,Steve Humeniuk did a little digging into the matter and came up with a little info on the song,The song is called "Sault Ste. Marie". It was written by a guy named Kevin Bowe. It's on an album called "The Best of The Rat Pack Vol.2"
We still think it's pretty cool that there's a song about Sault Ste. Marie!
