Hey pallies, every day is a greatly grand day to continue to coolly celebrate our most beloved Dino---his life, his times, and his teachin's!  And we gotta 'fess up that we completely, continually stand in amazin' awe of how even after over 2 decades have passed since our Dino walked the face of our planet, he is bein' lovin'ly lifted up in such powerfully prestigious places in print as the Wall Street Journal.

Likes today through the energetic efforts of our pallies at google 'lerts we are totally totally thrilled to be takin' all youse Dino-holics to a remarkable column in the WSJ scribed by Mr. Thomas Vinciguerra (pictured on left), amazin' author, editor, and journalist.  Mr. Vinciguerra's potent prose is a remarkable review of a new tome scribed by awesome author Joseph Epstein (pictured below)  tagged "CHARM: THE ELUSIVE ENCHANTMENT."  It will probably not come as any surprise to all youse Dino-philes that the name of our most beloved Dino is lifted up in this review as he appears in Epstein's volume as an example of  a “vulgar charmer.”

Below is a briefest of brief excerpt from Vinciguerra's prose that will explain the term "vulgar charmer" and why our King of Cool fits Epstein's description of one.  As we have often spoken of here at ilovedinomartin, Dino's beautiful biographer speaks of our Dino as an extraordinary example of a "menefreghista," we view the term "vulgar charmer" to be consistently congruent with that, but we woulda be most pleasured to hear  reaction to this Dino-descriptive from other Dino-devotees.
But, likes whether youse 'gree or disagree with author Epstein, we can all celebrate that the life, times, and teachin's of our Dino continues to be lifted up by wonderful writers of all types and stripes.

We thank Mr Epstein for sharin' his Dino-thoughts in his newest tome and for Mr. Vinciguerra's choice of makin' those thoughts know to the larger world via his column for the WSJ.  To checks this out in it's original format, simply clicks on the tag of this Dino-report.  And, likes we couldn't resist once 'gain sharin' a youtube vid of our most beloved Dino croonin' by the moon and pizza pies.

We Remain,

Yours In Dino,

Dino Martin Peters

Joseph Epstein

‘Charm’ Review: The Most Pleasing Personality

“In the presence of charm, the world seems lighter and lovelier.”

By Thomas Vinciguerra

CHARM: THE ELUSIVE ENCHANTMENT

By Joseph Epstein

Lyons, 187 pages, $24.95

In teasing out his extended theme, Mr. Epstein takes some unexpected turns. Who would have thought there could be such a thing as a “vulgar charmer”? But the author presses the case for Sid Caesar, Jackie Gleason and Louis Prima while arguing, with equal plausibility, against Larry David, Zero Mostel and Don Rickles. Mr. Epstein’s take on Dean Martin (who makes the cut) is spot on: “When he sang about the moon hitting your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore, something about him supplied a subtext that read, ‘Can you believe people pay me to sing such crap?’ ” That’s vulgar charm, folks.

"Vulgar charmer"...yea, I can see that. Dino, as we've all heard, didn't like performin' "That's Amore". But...he sold us that jam like rain to the desert! He was the ultimate performer. I can see how this expression would fit Dino probably better than any other. And I gots to admit...I love it! Haha!!
