Dean Martin

By and everyone thinks Dean Martin as a singer came to the bin, but before he had to travel a long way. He first came to living with his fists, then with his humor and later as a crooner. Due to its special style of singing he was called The King of Cool. He earned at the peak of his career, millions of dollars in expensive nightclubs, with his records, as an actor, not to mention his popular television shows. It was his mother Angela Barra that when her son Dino was little already realized he was no ordinary child, but cut out to be ... notorious and that he was too!

With a ticket that his brother had bought for him in America Gaetano Crocetti traveled from Monte Ivano, Pescara in Italy to Steubenville in Ohio off to get there. As a hairdresser to the bin Here he met Angela Barra, born in part Neapolitan and part Sicilian parents. First, Bill was born a little later the 7th June 1917, Dino Paul. At home they spoke Italian so it was not so easy for Dino when he went to school. He always looked neat and tidy. Some thought he was a sissy, until he showed his fists and made feel. He enrolled as a student at The Grant Elementary School in Steubenville, but studied not like. As an accomplished guts he felt he knew more than his teachers. He was often ridiculed because he spoke broken English with an Italian accent. That made him nervous. One day he looks no more going to sit and take it out in the boxing ring. He was only 15 when he gets in the boxing ring as Kid Crochet. He comes with mondsjesmaat a living. After about 18 fights he leaves boxing for what it is and goes to work in a tobacco shop in the back room a casino. He knows he is here to gradually work up croupier who between like singing a song. He performs with various bands like Dino Martini, named after the famous at that time Neapolitan tenor Nino Martini. He is also away from the lazy-like singing style of Harry Mills of the wildly popular Mills Brothers. In that style he will act as the lead singer in the band Ernie McKay and later Sammy Watkins who changes his name to Dean Martin. Dean does not only sing, he entertains the audience with his antics. In October of 1941 he married Elizabeth Anne McDonald, with whom he had four children. Eight years later he would end that relationship. In 1943 he may succeed in Riobamba Sinatra Club, a luxury tent in New York, but with less success than The Voice that wants to continue to help him, but Dean does not sit. He walks rather his own trail.

During the Second World War in 1944, Dean recalled in the United States Army, but should remain in the barracks in Akron Ohio. Because he suffers from a solid hernia, it may be a year later left the army. That same year, he happens to meet Jerry Lewis, who at that moment in The Glass Hat occurs in The Belmont Plaza where Dean is at work. They drink a few cups of coffee with each other and discover that they have the same style of humor. In the spring of 1946, they perform together in The Havana Madrid in New York, but do not take it so seriously and their separate ways again. Shortly afterwards we find Jerry in The 500 Club in Atlantic City run back by Skinny D'Anato. One day their permanent vocalist Jack Randall must let go because of a default of laryngitis. Jerry suggests Dean Martin as a possible substitute. Skinny agrees on the condition that they want to act. Well as a comic duo This is done reluctantly. The first evening there are exactly four customers in the hall, but a little later about it every night eivol. Jerry writes a string of sketches with each other complemented by a number of songs and a show that a grand total of 2 hours and 45 minutes it takes, they know the success on their side. In 1948, they are top of the bill in the posh Copacabana Club in New York, and a little later they are behind the cameras of the mega popular TV show of Ed Sullivan. That show was called Toast of The Town yet. We denote the 20th June 1948, five days later I was born, but when no one was awake except my parents and my younger sister Chris.

A year later we see Dean and Jerry on the big screen in the film My Friend Irma in a production by Hal B. Walllis for Paramount Pictures. On the same footing, would follow a whole lot of movies, which gives them a lot of criticism because quite resemble those movies a lot alike. Too bad, but that is the relationship between Dean and Jerry not for good. Ten years after their first gig, the duo wound up in 1956.

Dean goes but also on his own, though his first solo performance in the film Ten Thousand Bedrooms in 1957 without success. Dean let his manager know he wants to be taken more seriously as an actor and was ecstatic when he may occur in the war drama The Young Lions alongside Montgomery Clift and Marlon Brando in 1957. With this film as a film actor Dean cuts a very successful period. A little later we see him on the side of Frank Sinatra in Vincente Minnelli's Some Came Running. Directed by Howard Hawks, he shines in 1959 in Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Ricky Nelson.

We forget in all this his success as a singer not. In 1955 Dean scored his first big hit with Memories Are Made Of This he recognizes in the Capitol Recording Studio with The Easy Riders who provide the backing. Eleven years earlier, he had already decided to become a singer. In 1948 he closes a deal with Capitol Records and takes them several successful albums such as: I'll always love you, Powder your face with sunshine, If, You belong to me and Sway among others together with the bands of Paul Weston and Lou Busch. Memories are made of this one is his first song. The song was written by Terry Gilkison who previously sang with the renowned folk group The Weavers. He wrote that song with Richard Dehr and Frank Miller, with whom he formed the trio The Easy Riders who take the backing vocals during the recording on their behalf. On the B-side Change of Heart is written for John Rox (note: in 1957 were The Easy Riders score a top five hit on the Billboard Hot Hundred Marianne). The moment Dean is one in Billboard's Hot One Hundred he forms a duo with Jerry Lewis. A little later they are so split up. The 14th January 1956 is one of Dean Memories Are Made of This, after he had moved. Tennessee Ernie Ford Sixteen Tons and on the side Five weeks in a row Dean remains one shine to Kay Starr politely ask him to clean up for her single Rock and Roll Waltz place. With Memories Are Made of This Dean would be the biggest hit of his singing career scoring. In the wake follow successful recordings including: Innamorata, Standing on the Corner Watching The World Go By in the Low Countries is translated by Wim Sonneveld if there's the organ grinder successful.

The seventh April 1958 Capitol launches a new hit for Dean Martin Return to Me. The song was written by saxophonist Carmen Lombardo who along with his brother Guy the famous orchestra The Royal Canadians founded which he wrote many hits such as Sweethearts on Parade, Boo Hoo and Coquette. He wrote Return to Me, also known by its Italian title Ritorna a Me with Danny Di Minno. The single reached a little later in fourth place in Billboard's Hot One Hundred. His Italian roots not. Deny Dean He scored hits with Volare, On An Evening in Roma and From The Bottom of My Heart. A bestseller is Dino album he records with producer Dave Cavanaugh with next number Return To Me covers of Italian hits such Non Dimenticar, Arrivederci Roma, There's No Tomorrow and Take Me in Your Arms.

Meanwhile, Frank Sinatra in the clinch lay with his record company, Capitol Records, his own record company started and he has his friend Dean, part of the famous and infamous Rat Pack of The Voice with include Sammy Davis Junior, Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford, guided to his record stall. Here Dean Martin in 1964 scored his second biggest hit Everybody Loves Somebody. That song had already been recorded in numerous versions, as it was already booked as a classic since it was written in 1947 by Irving Taylor and Ken Lane. The Voice himself could not resist a version of Everybody loves Somebody Sometimes record, but he did already in 1950, Lane had the song with Taylor in less than twenty minutes written by each other. Lane worked when indeed often together with Sinatra. Afterwards would also be big stars like Peggy Lee and Dinah Washington canning, but the version of Dean Martin did all the stops. The story imposes itself!

One day Dean Martin is in the recording studio for his album Dream With Dean together with people like Ken Lane, co-author of Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes, at the piano. The recordings rafts so well that there is still left over an hour. Lane proposes to Dean for a jazzy version to look together with the available combo: bass, drums, piano and guitar. This is a very quiet and warm version of the song. A little later Dean takes a new version of the song, this time with a large orchestra and chorus in a production of Jimmy Bowen. For the packages they rely on Ernie Freeman. His record company is so enthusiastic that they also decide if you like. His new album Initially, because that story is often forgotten, hit Everybody Loves Somebody on single no sense. Reprise wants to get the single off the market when they learn that deejays in New Orleans and Massachusetts turning gray. Other deejays also pick it up in their programs and becoming the number one national hit. The 15th August 1964 Dean is one in Billboard's Hot One Hundred after he surpassed who had stood with A Hard Day's Night. Fortnight at one of the top one hundred Beatles You have to dare and above all to dethrone The Beatles. Only one week remains Dean flaunt one and gloat, because look, there diving The Supremes already with Where Did Our Love Go to push him. The first place

Dean and his producer Jimmy Bowen, the taste, and especially to address the sound. In the same style follow: The Door is Still Open, Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On and I Will. As a result of this comeback Dean ABC Television Network gets its own TV show offered. In the margins I like Everybody Loves Somebody mentioned that would be used in a number of promo spots and on the gravestone of Dean Martin by Western Union in the nineties shines Everybody Loves Somebody! like epitaph.

Meanwhile Presley had let the world know that he was a big fan of Dean Martin and copied him last time when he took the ballad Love Me Tender. Looking for a commercial coat rack showcases Dean in the mid-sixties on his LPs his fondness for country songs and as a result his successful albums: Dean "Tex" Martin, The Hit Sound of Dean Martin, Welcome To My World and Gentle On My Mind. Not for nothing crowns The Country Music Association him in 1966 Man of The Year. Like his companions Sammy Davis Junior and Frank Sinatra Dean Martin, and he was that for quite some time, a welcome guest in Las Vegas. He enjoys it when he could sing on the side of his daughter Gail Martin. Even though his image that of un homme à femmes and a drunkard, yet Dean was a true domestic rat who did nothing more than to spend his free time with his family. His second wife Jeanne agreed only too happy: "He was home every night for dinner!"

Also noteworthy are the Matt Helm films starring Dean takes on his behalf. The films are based on the books by Donald Hamilton. In 1966, the first film The Silencers. Afterwards there would be three more to follow with Dean starring: Murderer's Row, The Ambushers, and The Wrecking Crew. In 1975 ABC Network Matt Helm decides to appear in a television series, this time starring Anthony Franciosa, but after thirteen episodes, they keep it a day.

From 1970 Dean Martin could afford to slow down to go do it. He has plenty of money. His TV show was renamed The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast then and are a kind of specials that stay on the small screen from 1973 until 1984. So dive into his shows guests as Ronald Reagan, Kirk Douglas, Johnny Carson, Truman Capote, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra and Joan Collins to quickly select a few. In 1972 he divorced his second wife Jeanne. He moves from The Riviera in Las Vegas for a much better deal with The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The 25th April 1973 he married the 26-year-old Catherine Hawn. Three years later she. Divorce He will once again live together with his second wife, Jeanne little later though they will never remarry. In 1976 Frank Sinatra Dean Martin succeeds in linking it to Jerry Lewis again. It will be a phenomenal success that she again sometime in 1989 when Dean Martin throws a party on the occasion of his 72nd birthday. Jerry Lewis will also be a great support for Dean when he loses his son Dean Paul Martin. Paul came to March 21 1987 in a plane crash, he was one of three children who loved Dean about his second marriage. Earlier, he had four children by his first wife Elizabeth: Stephen Craig, Claudia Dean who in 2001 died of breast cancer, Barbara Gail and Deana.

In the charts Dean Martin was, and then another surfaced, including in 1967 with In The Chapel In The Moonlight, and for the last time in 1969 with I Take A Lot of Pride in What I Am. 21 years later, in December 1990 he gives his last show at Bally's Hotel in Las Vegas. He still live guest during the 75th anniversary celebration of Frank Sinatra. To Cedars Sinai Medical Center in September of 1993 with Dean Martin lung cancer diagnosed. Two years later he withdraws completely from the show business. 25th December 1995 he died on Christmas Day at the age of 78 at his home in Beverly Hills. He is buried at the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles. If salute the lights to be dimmed The Strip in Las Vegas. A street in Steubenville is named after him. Twelve years later brings Capitol / EMI successful album Forever Cool on the market, a duet album with, among others, Robbie Williams, Kevin Spacey and Joss Stone. Four of his children still living in his name received in the month of February 2009 The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

A big hit from him I deliberately overlooked because I want to finish and that's That's Amore. Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis performed together in just fewer than 16 films, including The Caddy would be. Tenth in that row That film was shot in 1953, directed by Norman Taurog with next Dean and Jerry also Donna Reed and Barbara Bates. Jerry plays the role of a gifted golfer who has terribly suffered from stage fright, so he gives Dean a lesson prevailing party play. But by all sorts of crazy circumstances they walk during a tournament in Monterey prize of one thousand dollars missing. They put an end to their sporting cooperation through a contract to play comedy. A role written on their bodies so, but for the critics was that movie worth no more than a star. Only the song That's amore Dean sings in the film, many stuck. Harry Warren was asked to write the soundtrack and who knew only too well that Martin was a good rock crooner. He also knew that Dean Martin Dino Crocetti actually called and had Italian roots. He thought it was so obvious to write an Italian-style song and it was That's amore. Dean had often sung with Lewis duetjes That certain party which in 1948 had even reached the charts but this time he should sing on his own. To display the text enough Italian flavor lyricist Jack Brooks wrote the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie. Now there was one big problem. Martin could not even hear That's amore. He refused to lend his voice. Before Instead, he suggested to sing. Neapolitan classic Oh Marie But Paramount Pictures had composer Harry Warren - good for fourth Oscar-winning liedjes- been given a whole sum of money, so Martin had little choice but to put his long teeth into That's amore. He loved the leg stiff when Capitol Records introduced him to sing the song again and to bring it. Onto single Paramount Pictures gave Capitol then but admission to make. Sung from the film version on plate Two months after the premiere of the film received each DJ a 45 rpm copy on his office worried. That's amore began in the top hundred on a steep climb to track where it would continue to take root. 5 weeks in a row there in the autumn of 1953 to the second stop In total more than two million copies were sold. In England the single was good for second place. At the Oscar ceremony That's amore was nominated for best film song of 1953 it had beaten by for another strong evergreen Hollywood Secret love. Another film would make sure That's amore a hit would be. Again In 1987, director Norman Jewison turned along with Cher and Nicolas Cage's romantic film Moonstruck. Cher then went with Oscar walking and screenwriter John Patrick Shanley. The movie begins with the way Dean Martin version of That's amore.

We conclude with a look at our Belgian top thirty where Dean Martin seven times is reflected. First time in 1955 with The Belle From Barcelona and then scoring well with Volare, Return To Me, and in the highest hitregionen with Everybody Loves Somebody and The Door Is Still Open.

Dean Martin

Kort daarna vinden we Jerry in The 500 Club in Atlantic City terug uitgebaat door Skinny D’Anato. Die show heette toen nog Toast of The Town.

Memories are made of this wordt zijn eerste nummer één.

Zo scoort hij hits met Volare, On An Evening in Roma en From The Bottom of My Heart.

In diezelfde stijl volgen: The Door is Still Open, Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On en I Will.

Niet voor niets kroont The Country Music Association hem in 1966 tot Man of The Year. He was home every night for dinner!”

In 1966 verscheen de eerste verfilming The Silencers.

The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

Om de tekst genoeg Italiaanse flavour te geven schreef tekstschrijver Jack Brooks the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie. Nu was er één groot probleem. Martin kon That’s amore niet eens horen.

DEAN MARTIN, 1943, BEFORE THE NOSE JOB!!!!

Hey pallies, likes as we mentioned in the last Dino-rememberin' post, we likes thoughts it woulda be so so cool to have a "before nose job" pix of our Dino to share with all you Dino-philes. Well, our Dino directed us to search "Dean Martin Before Nose Job" on google and Dino-low and Dino-behold the link to the pixs below came up just like that!  Now that's Dino-magic!

From the tumblr site, "Showbiz Imagery and Chicanery," came these copies of Dino-verts that show our most beloved Dino before he got his nose fixed. Likes we did some searchin' to try and find out who the dude behind this pad is and am pleased to report it appears to be none other then our pallie Kliph Nesteroff, the dude who so beau-ti-fully  scribed that great Dino-history of the Dino's Lodge eatery.

ilovedinomartin sez our thanks to Mr. Nesteroff for performin' 'nother great Dino-deed of supplyin' these much sought after "before" Dino-pixs. To view this in it's original site, just clicks on the tag of this Dino-message. Dino-awed, DMP

btw, pallies likes just loves all the fav Dino-comments shared on this Dino-vert...and of course they simply simply are the Dino-truth!

On This Day In Dino-history: August 16, 1944

August 16, 1944 Dean gets a nose job in New York

Hey pallies, likes  thanks to the dudes at the Dean Martin Timeline (clicks on tag to goes there) we've been 'lerted to the fact that today is 'nother stunnin' day of rememberance in the life of our most beloved Dino. Likes on this day, 70---count -em-70 years 'go, August 16, in the year of our Dino 1944, our most belove Dino  gots himself a nose job in New York City.

Dino's nose had suffered damage from his days of boxin' as Kid Crochet, and Mr.Lou Costello (of Abbot and Costello fame) generously paid the $500 to get our Dino's nose fixed. In later years Lou's daughter woulda end up tiein' the knot with our Dino's oldest boypallie Craig.

This swank and stunnin' Dino-pix  shows us just how beau-ti-ful our Dino is with his new nose, and likes as we were workin' on this Dino-gram, likes we had hoped to find a "before" Dino-pix as well..and likes the next Dino-post will do exactly that.

We likes just loves bein' able to memorize all these important dates in the life and times of our most beloved Dino! Keeps Dino-studyin' and Dino-lovin' pallies! Dino-devotedly, DMP

On This Day In Dino-history: August 15, 1964

Hey pallies, likes today is the most golden of golden days in all of Dino-history.   Likes it was on this day, August 15, in the year of our Dino 1964, that our most mighty Dino knocked the Beatles outta the numero uno spot on Billboard's charts with what became his signature croon, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime."

To share this wondrous news, we return to one of our most fav posts we have ever shared here from our Dino-devoted pallie, American character actor, voice actor and comedian, Mr. Eddie Deezen.  Deezen first shared this Dino-homagin' post on May 12, 2009, and we proudly reprint it here 'gain this Dino-day in honor of the Golden Anniversary when our King of Cool blew the mop tops off the top of the charts.

We likes deeply deeply digs how Eddie recounts that greatest of great days in the life, times, and teachin' of our Dino quotin' our Dino tellin' his boypallie that "I'M GONNA KNOCK YOUR PALLIES OFF THE CHARTS."  Likes the only thin' pallies is that in Nick Tosches' beau-ti-ful biography of our beat-ti-ful man, "DINO: Living  High In The Dirty Business Of Dreams," tells us that he was speakin' to his beloved name sake boypallie Dino Jr. rather then boypallie Ricci.   Likes whichever boypallie our most beloved Dino was speakin' with, indeed we do know that he spoketh the totally totally complete Dino-truth!

Indeed, we salute our golden voiced Dino on this golden anniversary of strikin' pure pure gold with his golden signature croon, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime"....and in the process bustin' the Beatles outta the top spot on the Billboard Charts!  Thanks to Mr. Eddie Deezen for sharin' this most special of special Dino-memory at his personal pad on the web.  To checks this out in it's original format, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram.   Dino-always, ever, and only, DMP  btw, we are includin' two great live versions of our King of Cool singin' his hit of hits!

DEAN MARTIN KNOCKS THE BEATLES
OUT OF #1 SPOT - AUGUST 15, 1964

I'M GONNA KNOCK YOUR PALLIES OFF THE CHARTS
                                            - DEAN MARTIN

RICCI MARTIN
, WAS JUST LIKE MOST ANY OTHER TEENAGER IN THE EARLY MONTHS OF 1964. RICCI WAS TOTALLY CRAZY ABOUT AND OBSESSED WITH THE BEATLES. EVER SINCE THEIR ARRIVAL IN AMERICA, THEY HAD CAPTIVATED TEENAGERS FAR AND WIDE AND TAKEN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY BY STORM. THEY WERE MAKING APPEARANCES ON TV, THEIR NEW FILM A HARD DAY'S NIGHT WAS A SMASH HIT, AND THEIR SONGS WERE BLASTING OUT OF EVERY RADIO ON THE CONTINENT.
DURING THIS WAVE OF BEATLEMANIA, RICCI WAS RAVING ON AND ON ABOUT THE BOYS FROM LIVERPOOL. HIS FATHER,DEAN MARTIN, STAR OF STAGE, SCREEN, TELEVISION, LAS VEGAS, AND THE RECORD WORLD, GOT FED UP ONE DAY AND TOOK RICCI TO THE SIDE AND TOLD HIM:

I'M GONNA KNOCK YOUR PALLIES OFF THE CHARTS.

RICCI SMIRKED AND BARELY HELD BACK FROM ROLLING HIS EYES RIGHT TO HIS FATHER'S FACE. SURE, HIS DAD WAS THE GREAT DEAN MARTIN, BUT DINO HADN'T HAD A HIT RECORD IN SIX YEARS - AND COME ON - THESE GUYS WERE THE BEATLES!
IN 1962, DEAN MARTIN HAD SIGNED A RECORDING CONTRACT WITH REPRISE RECORDS, A COMPANY OWNED BY HIS CLOSE FRIEND AND COMRADE-IN-ARMS FRANK SINATRA. IN 1963, REPRISE SIGNED A MAN NAMED JIMMY BOWDEN TO THEIR A & R DEPARTMENT. JIMMY VERY MUCH WANTED TO RECORD AN ALBUM WITH DEAN MARTIN. DEAN, ALWAYS AN EASY-GOING GUY, AGREED TO WORK WITH BOWDEN, BUT DEAN, A MAN WHO DID NOT LIKE CHANGE, WANTED TO RECORD AN ALBUM OF SOFT, MOODY, "LAS VEGAS-TYPE" SONGS.
IT WAS TO BE A TYPICAL "DEAN MARTIN ALBUM" - SLOW BALLADS AND LOVE SONGS SUNG BY THE DROOPY-EYED CROONER AND WAS CALLED DREAM WITH DEAN.
BOWDEN WANTED TO RECORD DEAN AND TRIED TO SET AN ATMOSPHERE THAT WAS PLEASING TO HIS ARTIST. THE RECORDING STUDIO WAS SET UP WITH MOODY LIGHTING TO CREATE THE PROPER ATMOSPHERE. HE GOT TOGETHER A SMALL BAND AND DINO QUICKLY AND SMOOTHLY RECORDED THE FIRST 11 SONGS FOR THE ALBUM.

THE 12TH HE JUST HATED - IT WAS A SONG CALLEDEVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY SOMETIME. THE SONG HAD BEEN WRITTEN AROUND 15 YEARS PREVIOUSLY BY DEAN'S CLOSE FRIEND AND PIANO PLAYER, KEN LANE (THIS FACTOR, I'M SURE, HAD A LOT TO DO WITH DEAN RECORDING A SONG HE COULDN'T STAND. DEAN WAS A VERY NICE, EASY-GOING GUY AND HE PROBABLY JUST WANTED TO HELP A PAL GET SOME ROYALTIES). DEAN HAD TO BE COAXED INTO RECORDING THE NUMBER, BUT AFTER SOME PUSHING, HE FINALLY AGREED TO RECORD THE TUNE THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN RECORDED BY SEVERAL OTHER ARTISTS INCLUDING SINATRA, PEGGY LEE AND DINAH WASHINGTON, AND HAD NEVER GONE ANYWHERE.
WHEN DEAN'S ALBUM CAME OUT, THE SONG WAS GIVEN LITTLE NOTICE AND RAISED NO STIR, BUT IN, EARLY IN 1964, DEAN RECORDED THE SONG AGAIN AS A SINGLE. IT WAS GIVEN A NEW ARRANGEMENT, DEAN SPED UP THE TEMPO A BIT, AND ADDED A MORE CONTEMPORARY SOUND TO IT. AT FIRST, THE SONG WENT NOWHERE AND REPRISE DECIDED TO STOP PROMOTING IT. BUT RADIO STATIONS IN NEW ORLEANS AND WORCHESTER, MASS. STARTED PLAYING IT.
IT SOON SPREAD TO OTHER STATIONS AND GAINED POPULARITY, AND ON AUGUST 15, 1964, JUST AS HE HAD BOASTED TO HIS SKEPTICAL SON,
EVERYBODY LOVES SOMEBODY SOMETIME
ACTUALLY KNOCKED THE BEATLES OUT OF THE #1 SPOT ON THE BILLBOARD HOT 100 RECORD CHART.

SEE, I TOLD YOU
I WAS GONNA KNOCK YOUR PALLIES OFF

SAID DEAN CASUALLY TO HIS AWESTRUCK SON. RICCI MARTIN SAID HE LOOKED ON AT HIS FATHER WITH PRIDE, WONDER AND AMAZEMENT. AND THUS, DEAN MARTIN, IN ALL PROBABILITY, BECAME THE ONE AND ONLY PERSON TO CORRECTLY PREDICT THAT HE WAS GOING TO KNOCK THE BEATLES OUT OF THE NUMBER ONE SPOT ON THE CHARTS AND ACTUALLY DO IT!
