Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, well, there's not much new I can say about these showbiz icons, so let's just get with it!

Hey pallies, likes one of the hardest thin's for ilovedinomartin to do is to catch up with each and every pallie who has had their Dino-devotion featured here at our humble little ilovedinomartin Dino-blog, and so we are so so often delightfully surprised when we happen 'pon more Dino-passion from long lost pallies.  Yesterday we were thrilled to share with your more Dino-lovin' from our pallie Scotty at "BlueisKewl" and today we are equally delighted to share more Dino-devotion from our Dino-holic pallie tagged Stendek at his very cool blog tagged "Pellucidar Offerings 4."

In May of  the year of our Dino 2012, ilovedinomartin featured an absolutely amazin' post by  Stendek  that accented our beloved Dino as spyster Matt Helm featurin'  poweful patter and stupendous stills from Helmer numero uno, "The Silencers."

Well 'pon bein' Dino-directed back  to our pallie Stendek's blog we discovered that a few ago in May he had returned to the Dino-pulse featurin' more playful patter and stunnin' stills, this time featurin' that scariest of scary Dino and Jerry classic, "Scared Stiff."  This is certainly one of ilovedinomartin's fav Martin and Lewis flicks....of course "Artists and Models" always always bein' number uno in our Dino-book.

Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis, well, there's not much new I can say about these showbiz icons, so let's just get with it! Here's some seriously cool photos and songs from the 1953 zany classic, "Scared Stiff!"

Frank Fontaine as the obnoxious drunk on the pier would go on to have a number one record 9 years later with his "Songs I Sing On The Jackie Gleason Show" LP!! In character as Crazy Guggenheim, the non-drinking Fontaine, could barely put a sentence together, but had a smooth singing style out of character, just like Jim Nabors when he wasn't Gomer!!

My favorite thing that Jerry Lewis does, is when he stands behind some one and mimics and mocks them!! That'll get me rolling on the floor every time!!

Carmen Miranda as Carmelita Castinha performs here in her last film role, with the boys and "Bongo Bingo"! I love the countdown at the end! Defies comprehension to me!

There's no way to forget "Enchiladas", even if you try, because just like in real life, they will come back to haunt you! Listen to this at your own risk and guard your crystal!

And once again to justify the whole thing, see, there is actually a ghost!!

"Carmen's Late", so of course, Jerry has to go on for her miming to a record! He almost pulls it off, and the crowd is just weird enough not to care!

It might be her last movie, but backstage with the gang, Carmen doesn't look like she knew she was going to get this kind of send up!

Super scary sequence giving new meaning to the word 'armchair!'

Oh, it's Bob Hope and Bing Crosby!! Imagine that!!! How ironic!! And they're skeletons!!! Wow, how is that even possible or plausible? And, in the, Oh, Yeah, department, am I the only one who thinks it's hilarious that another Martin/Lewis movie made in the same year titled "The Caddy" had an actor in it whose name was Lewis Martin??? That's just weird!!!

Hey pallies, likes last time we visited our pallie Scott at his way way cool blog, "BlueisKewl was on June 27 of this very Dino-year when we shared his very first Dino-honorin' post accentin' our most beloved Dino's birthday with a very very special Dino-entry.  And, when ilovedinomartin pattered Scotty 'bout our appreciato for his Dino-devotion, turns out that we were the first to ever comment on his blog, for which he showed great appreciato!

ilovedinomartin also encouraged our new pallie to consider sharin' more and more of his love for our Dino, and low and behold we just discovered a second bit of Dino-admiration posted at his bounteous  blog on July 30.  As you will note below, the post is tagged "Two of the Greatest, Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin just having Fun."  And, like dude the fun that they are havin' is our most beloved Dino showin' his lovin' of his pallie Frank by givin' Sinatra a hug and a kiss.  How wonderful to see two men so devoted to each other that they are not afraid of showin' such deep, pure, and true affection.

Two of the Greatest, Frank Sinatra & Dean Martin just having Fun

Martin was nicknamed the “King of Cool” due to his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assuredness.

Hey pallies, likes there must be billions and billions of photos of our most beloved Dino that were snapped in his amazin' lifetime, and likes ilovedinomartin has over the course of the last number of years shared a ton of 'em with all you pallies.  Yet, likes we are always always thrilled to find  Dino-images likes that we have never ever remembered seein' before.

Such is the image that popped up while doin' a Dino-blog search with the pallies at google.  Below from the blog pad,  "Independent Film, News and Media" under their regular feature of "Quick Pix" is a glorious shot of our glorious Dino that likes we never ever can remember seein' before.  Likes the look on our Dino's face is that irresistible  glance that our Dino is famous for.

Dean Martin (born Dino Paul Crocetti; June 7, 1917 – December 25, 1995) was an American singer, film actor, television star and comedian. One of the most popular and enduring American entertainers of the mid-20th Century, Martin was nicknamed the “King of Cool” due to his seemingly effortless charisma and self-assuredness. A member of the “Rat Pack,” Martin was a major star in four areas of show business: concert stage/nightclubs, recordings, motion pictures, and television. Big Chuck Opens Up His Variety Show Vault: “The Dean Martin Show” (VIDEO)

The Dean Martin Show was a big hit.  It ran for 264 episodes from 1965 to 1974.

Dino was already an established media star in 1964:  movies, concerts, hit recordings and more.  But it was TV where his appeal really came shining through.  Elegant in his black tuxedo, he exuded an easy breezy charm which really registered with viewers.  He had comedy features, guest stars, and of course, a solo segment where it was just Dean., pianist Ken Lane and that beautiful voice.

The show was an NBC 10 p.m. staple for almost its entire run.  One popular segment, The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast, was eventually spun off into a series of NBC specials.

Virtually everybody and anybody in Hollywood was a guest on Dean’s variety show including Lucille Ball, Liberace, Tony Bennett, Eddy Arnold, The Supremes, Shirley Bassey, Jimmy Stewart, The Everly Brothers, Jack Benny, Rodney Dangerfield and many more.

The Best Of Dean Martin And His Friends

Hey pallies, likes time for a true Dino-'fession today by ilovedinomartin.  Some weeks ago we were intrigued by a Amazon listin' of a DVD tagged "The Best Of Dean Martin And His Friends, but seein' that Amazon only had a couple of copies listed at the time and that the single Dino-disc were priced 'round $35 and 'cause we coulda not find any other info we simply chose not to publish info on this Dino-find.

Well fast forward a few, and some of the mystery surroundin' this new Dino-treasure was resolved with a post scribed by a dude tagged Ivan at the Peggy Lee dedicated pad, "PeggyLee.com."  As you will read below, the single disc is a Walmart exclusive that was priced to sell at less then $10 and was sold out in a couple of weeks.  Seems that Walmart created no fanfare in the release so many many of us Dino-philes never knew of it's release.

The month of June saw the release of a new Dean Martin DVD:



It contains three episodes of his TV show, including one in which Peggy Lee performs the following selections:

This DVD is a Walmart exclusive. According to reports made by USA fans of Dino, all copies vanished from Walmart's physical stores within two weeks. Walmart's USA online store does not list the item. (My suspicion is that a few copies of what might be a Canada-only release were mistakenly sent to some American stores. The reason why I think of Canada is that the online Canadian Walmart store does carry the item.)

Luckily, there's an alternative for American fans: copies are being currently sold at Amazon. (However, they are priced at $35... These were selling for less than $10 at Walmart stores!)

In somewhat related news, Peggy Lee's performances of "Little Girl Blue" and "Alright, Okay, You Win" (from other episodes ofThe Dean Martin Show) have now returned to YouTube:

Over the years, I think "Little Girl Blue" has appeared and disappeared from YouTube two or three times. I wish that "Alfie" (from yet another Dean show) re-appeared as well.

Dean Martin to Cleanse the Soul on a Thursday Summer Evening

Hey pallies, likes the tag of today's Dino-devotion is worth the price of admission likes all by itself!  From the pen of Miss Diana Mary Sharpton at her self-tagged blog, "Diana Mary Sharpton  - POSTS, POETRY, PICTURES AND MUSIC VIDEOS"  comes a wonderous homage of our most beloved Dino and the transformin' power that our Dino has in the life of his pallies.

Miss Sharpton  reminisces on days gone by when a child at her father's knee in the evenin' they woulda listen to great singers singin' great music on the radio....and likes all us Dino-holics know there is no greater crooner then our great great man.  Speakin' of those days of her youth, Sharpton sez, " I loved those times. I remember when I was a girl, we did not have TV but we did have the radio and my dear father loved the singers of his time like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. We would all sit around a big oak table and talk/socialize every evening. My father would always read us “one” story before bed and we would also listen and dance to the songs on the radio. I loved those times. They were simple and full of warmth and love.

I personally continued his love for music and have Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra music in my IPOD. Dean Martin is the artist; I am going to feature tonight. His songs were always upbeat and fun. The song I love the most is “aint that a kick in the head”(1).

Living It Up (1954) | My Favorite Old Movies

A poor man (Jerry Lewis) is wrongly diagnosed with radiation poisoning by his doctor/friend (Dean Martin), a female reporter (Janet Leigh) takes

them to New York City to live out the last of the man’s days in luxury!

I adore Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis’ films. I was raised on them! I have memories of watching Martin and Lewis films on Sunday afternoons with my dad – it was one of the few father/daughter bonding activities which we enjoyed. I loved Dean Martin’s suave, debonair characters and Jerry Lewis’ wild

and wacky characters. Both always made me laugh in whatever movie they did together. Whenever I am in need of a laugh, I pop on Living It Up and am instantly cheered up!

I love the premise of this film and that Martin had some chances for his own comedic performance in this film – something which rarely happened when in a scene with Lewis.

I love the bright costumes designed in this movie which make it visually exciting. Janet Leigh is absolutely breathtaking in every costume she wears, and her chemistry with both Martin and Lewis (her character vows to marry Lewis’ character but is actually in love with Martin’s character!).

Jerry Lewis got to show off his amazing dancing skills during one scene where he does the Jitterbug with a champion dancer. I love that because he is crazy and wild usually, this dance fits him to a T!

The highlight of Living It Up for me is the musical number Every Street’s A Boulevard, where Martin and Lewis gets dressed up in coats and ties and stroll through the spectacle which is New York City:

Hey pals...I was just thinkin' ...Summer is goin' by so so fast...that maybe some of my fellow Dino-holics might be feelin' a little down...maybe even gots themselves a wee bit of the ol' Summertime blues!


Well...FEAR NOT pallies! I got's JUST what Dr. Martin ordered!!! Hahaha!!! This week's Serenade, "I Take A Lot Of Pride In What I Am", is the PERFECT song of inspiration & just the RIGHT tune to kick those blues out the door!


Ain't got no time for that stuff pals...Dino didn't bother with nonsense like that & neither should we! I do my BEST to live my life with Dean's great great teachin's in mind & nothin' helps me stay more Dino-focused than a cool cool jam like this...& maybe a martini or two! Hahaha!!! Whatever it takes pallies...keep the Dino-spirit flowin'!

Hey pallies, likes ilovedinomartin  has shared this testimony of our most beloved Dino's great great kindness to fellow entertainer Mr. Engelbert Humperdinck, but likes it never hurts such a wonderous Dino-tale 'gain.  Today, from the pages of the web presence of "Las Vegas Weekly" comes an essay scribed by none other then Mr. Humperdinck tagged, "IT’S BEEN AN UNBELIEVABLE JOURNEY."

Recently playin' in our Dino's playground, 'Vegas Baby 'Vegas, Engelbert  now 75 years of age, was reminiscin' on his amazin' life as a singer. Likes as a  powerful part of his "unbelievable journey" he has shared the huge huge boost that our great man gave to him.  It is always always so so refreshin' to share a true life story of how our amazin' Dino helped 'nother entertainer to make it to the top.

Changing my name was the only chance I had at making it. When you try to come back into the business after being off and being rejected again, I had to change a lot of things. I knew that, so I watched The Beatles and their hairstyles. They had an image, so I decided to dye my hair really, really black, grow my sideburns really long and had a little flicker in the back. It was the start of my image, and then when my manager Gordon Mills gave me the name of Engelbert Humperdinck, I thought I was going to fall off the stool.

I said, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He said, “Well, it belonged to a German composer, and he’s dead, so you’ve got it now!” So I told him, “Alright, don’t lose your temper, I’m just asking a question.” It was difficult because it’s hard to spell, it’s hard to pronounce, and everyone called me Pumpernickel. Eventually, I broke through and I came back, and “Release Me” was born.

Dean Martin could never say it right, speaking of which, he’s the one who is responsible for me being in Las Vegas. He took a shine to me when I first began, when I first signed with the Riviera, Dean had a piece of that hotel. For the first time in his life, he put his name on the marquee for an artist, it was Dean Martin presents Engelbert Humperdinck. That was the start of my career in Las Vegas.
