Hope youse JAM-PACKED these last few months with Summer fun & ALL THINS' DINO! Haha!!

Time to trade in the pool swimmin' & sun-bakin' for apple pickin' & leaf-rakin'! Hahaha!!!
Only a couple days left & Autumn will be sneakin' in. Catch us when we least expects it!
We'll be ready though, pallies!
We gonna store as MUCH summery memories as possible...keeps ALL those SWINGIN' Dino-tunes in mind... create a "go-to" section in our brains that will be COM PLETE LY STUFFED with warm Dino thoughts! Ha!

On This Day In Dino-history: September 20, 1953

 Hey pallies, likes tomorrow is 'nother huge huge day in Dino-history, the remembrance of the birth of our Dino's youngest boypallie Ricci James......the day of Ricci  joinin' family Martin..    It was 62 years ago on September 20, 1953 that our Dino's youngest boypallie, Ricci James, made his entrance into the world. Ricci has shown his deep, pure, and true devotion to his daddy-o by scribin' a wonderful bio of what it was like livin' in fam Martin. Likes if you haven't read "That's Amore," we would hugely hugely encourage you to gets yourself a copy and soak deeply in Ricci's  most reverent remembrances of bein' a prodigy  of the King of Cool.

And, since 2003 Ricci James has toured the globe helpin' keep his father's amazin' life, times, and legacy alive doin' his very own outstandin' Dino-trib. Likes for us Dino-holics, likes Ricci's greatest effort in showin' amore to his father was when he created our Dino's one and only MTV music vid, "Since I Met You Baby" in 1982...and he tells such wonderful tales 'bout the filmin' of the vid in his Dino-bio.

Hey pallies, likes in doin' a bit of youtube searchin' in preparation for our celebratin' our most beloved Dino's youngest boypallie, Ricci James' birthday very  soon, we likes ran 'cross an incredible interview of Ricci that we know all youse Dino-philes woulda loves to view.

Today we shares with you a short vid clip of Ricci bein' interviewed by Mr. Raj Tawney.  Raj is in the creative process of  producin' a "docu-series" tagged "WHAT WAS IT LIKE?"  Raj's potent premise is to film interviews with prodigy of the rich and famous, as Raj sez to accent "the legacy of legends."   Likes, of course there is no one more rich and famous then our most beloved Dino, and no one has a greater legacy then our legendary  King of Cool.  Wonderfully wisely Tawney has chosen our Dino's boypallie Ricci for his first interviewee.

What we have below is a three minute clip of the Ricci's remarkably reflectin'  "on his dad's life and career."  It's full of great pixs of our great man 'long with live clips of our Dino.  Likes especially we enjoyed seein' our Dino croonin' "The Way You Wear Your Hat" with Miss Ella Fitzgerald from the Dino-show.  Many many of the images are obviously from Ricci's private collection and there are a number that we have never seen before.

Even though this is a very short teaser for the whole episode, Ricci's long lastin' love and deep deep devotion for his father shines brightly through the few bits of sharin' that we are treated to.  Truly truly makes us hope that at some point the whole programme will be available for our Dino-viewin' pleasure.

We have spent some very very  worthwhile time in writin' down both of Ricci's spoken Dino-recollections below.   The first is a tremendous  teachin' from the life and times of our Dino.  It has often been noted that wise teachers teach mostly by example and Ricci shares amazin' Dino-wisdom on how our most beloved Dino treated the pallies 'round him.  Truly truly all us Dino-holics woulda do very well in followin' our Dino's exemplary behaviour.  Below is the transcript of Ricci sharin' this Dino-teachin'.

"Dad was a guy who regardless if you were the shoe shine guy at NBC or the head executive at NBC, it made no difference to him.  If you treated him with respect, he would treat you with respect.  And, he had no pretense about that whatsoever, and letting you know he didn't like you if you didn't like him.  And, that made no difference with money or losing money like he did with Jerry you know.  He walked away from huge contracts, but had both of his feet on the ground. And he was just honest that way.  He was colorblind.  It made no difference who you were, what you were.  If you were a stand up man or woman, that's all that mattered to him.  And, that's what I gleaned from him.  That's what I gleaned from dad."

Ricci's second compellin' comments are on the amazin' number of "careers" our Dino had as entertainer extraordinaire.  Hearin' Ricci devotedly describe the natural talents of our great man in comedy, music, stage and screen makes us prouder and prouder to be associated with our one and only Dino.  Below is the transcript of Ricci's deep deep devotion.

"If one were to have had even as much success as he did in even one of his careers...the stage in Vegas, television variety show, records, motion pictures...we've be very fortunate,   He had them in all of those.  So, he was not only technically sound and was aware of everything he was doing, but he made it look so easy that I remember Richard Corliss from Time magazine, you know, said that he really didn't have any talent, he was so natural to him."

So even though what we have in the vid clip below is a short promo of the entire production we have some wondrously wise words from our Dino's boy pallie Ricci remarkably reflectin' on the life, times, and teachin's of our most beloved Dino.

Hey pallies, likes just in time for our grand and glorious golden celebration of  our most beloved Dino's entry into the world of the small screen, our pallies at google Dino-lerts sent us a message that the followin' vid clip had just gone up at youtube.  It's the openin' minutes of the NBC network's first installment of the Dean Martin Variety Hour.  Likes, of course, it begins with the peacock struttin' it's stuff, but likes dudes that ain't nothin' compared to our most beloved Dino struttin' his wares.


Before the lights go up, we hear our Dino croonin' the openin' bars of his signature song "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" and then suavely states, "Thank You.  Now there's,  there's no point in singin' the whole song.   You might not buy the record."    This short sample also  includes his swingin'ly swank statement of intent: "Now I want you to know that this is goin' to be a family show.  The kind of a show a man can take his wife and kids, his father and mother and sit around a bar and watch."

Our King of Cool is in fantastic form on this first outin' and set's the tone for the next nine year's ahead.  Likes, as we all know, the small screen woulda never be the same 'gain once our Dino entered the medium with his ever cool, hip, and randy self!  So, likes sit's back and enjoy this marvelously memorable moment in the life, times, and teachin's of our one, our only Dino!   Dino-psyched,  DMP

NBC-TV finally put that little ole' wine drinker ... on the air when The Dean Martin Show premiered on this date.

Hey pallies, likes we just knew we woulda find 'nother blog rememberin' this most golden day in the golden life, times, and teachin' of our most beloved Dino....the day that changed the small screen forever and brought ever more fame and fortune to our one and only Dino...and gained him millions more pallies who tuned in to see our King of Cool ooze coolness in every word he spoke and every move he made!

From the in-the-know blog "Dr. Caligari's Cabinet" where a dude tagged Kevin gives forth, comes his post on the major events of September 16th, which of course, simply must accent the opennin' night of the Dean Martin Variety Hour 50 years ago this very Dino-day.  Kev with a bit of potent patter and one of the same vid clips that we share this day salutes our most beloved Dino on his entry into weekly television.

September 16, 1965 -
NBC-TV finally put that little ole' wine drinker ... on the air  when The Dean Martin Show premiered on this date.



Dean Martin wanted to be on TV but also wanted to be free to do movies and records; his contract required that he only show up to do his variety show one day per week (on Sundays). That's why he always seemed slightly out of step with the rest of the cast, who had rehearsed with Lee Hale standing in for Martin the day before. When Martin made a mistake he'd just laugh it off. The audience loved it. 

On This Day In Dino-history: September 16, 1965

Hey pallies, likes today is the golden anniversary of our golden voiced Dino's entrance onto weekly television,........yet  'nother deeply delightful  day in the life, the times, and the teachin's of our most beloved Dino.  It was 50---count 'em---50  years ago on this very day, September 16 in the year of our Dino 1965 that The Dean Martin Show premiered on the peacock channel and as they say, the rest is Dino-history.  The show ran for nine fabulous seasons and aired for a grand total of 264 episodes.

Likes we all know the story of how our Dino really didn't want to do a weekly television show and how he made what woulda seemed to have been outrageous demands of NBC likes only workin' one day a week...the day of recordin' the show with no other rehearsin'....and the wise wise folks at NBC consented to all of our Dino's demands...and for those nine glorious years our Dino crooned his way into our hearts, givin' us tons of laughs, and much much wonderous wit and wisdom to profoundly  ponder as well.

Likes we are so so grateful that slowly but surely parts of the series have been released on DVDs for us to continue to soak in all the glories of our King of Cool.  Our hugest  hope and our deepest dream is that one day, all 264 episodes in their full length will find there way into general release so that each and every moment of Dino-wonder will be ours forever!

In honor of this most festive of festive Dino-occasions we first share with all youse Dino-holics a couple of vid clips of that first broadcast featurin' our most beloved Dino, his bestest of best pallie Mr. Frank Sinatra and a ton of other other celebrities all wishiin' our King of Cool the best on his new small screen effort.  And, we have also chosen a quartet of just a few of our most fav of fav moments from our great great man's great great show.   Dino-always, ever, and only, DMP

Hey pallies, likes are we pump or are we pumped?!?!?!   Indeed likes dudes we are likes primo pumped to be sure this very Dino-day, 'cause likes when we opened our email we founds ourselves a comment addressed to ilovedinomartin from none other then Mr.  Brad Berkwitt of "RINGSIDE REPORT" fame.  Faithful readers of this here little Dino-blog will probably remember our first report from Berkwitt that graced our pages a few week 'go on August 24.

That Dino-devotion you will find  HERE.  It's 'bout Brad's boxin' pallie Mr. Packy “Boom Boom” Goldstein, who was best of pallies with Berkwitt's daddy-o.  In that first post that we described as
"punchy published prose (every pun intended dudes!)" Packy spoke of his deepest of deep devotion to our Dino sayin' "Dean Martin…. Jerry Lewis was nothing without Dean. Sure, he could be funny, but Dean was that act and so underrated as the greatest straight man in the history of the business."

Well, we are pleased as punch that Mr. Berkwitt with the utmost of kindness sent us patter and a link 'bout Packy's latest Dino-trib at Brad's pad.  Brad scribed us..."Dean was awarded the coveted Chutzpah Award by Packy "Boom Boom"  Goldstein .."  So, likes below pallies we get's to enjoys more Dino-adulation from Mr. Goldstein.    Coolest of cool thin' dudes is that Packy and Mr. Berkwitt's father Al " hung with (Dino) many times when Frank (Sinatra)  played the Fountainbleu Hotel in the late 50’s and 60’s."

Packy’s World: Andre Berto has Become the RODNEY DANGERFIELD of Boxing, Jack Dempsey, My Pal Al & Dean Martin Posthumously Awarded The Chutzpah Award

The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award is posthumously awarded to Dean Martin. Here was a man with no ego, took no shit and was a guy who men wanted to be and women wanted to be with. Al and I hung with him many times when Frank played the Fountainbleu Hotel in the late 50’s and 60’s. Frank adored him and so did Al and I. We will never see the likes of Martin or Sinatra again, I can tell you that.

Hey pallies, likes let's hear it for the pallies at google Dino-'lerts.   Likes as of late they have been sendin' just a ton of great great Dino-entries our Dino-way.  Today through the power of google we takes all youse Dino-philes to the vid of vid Dino-source  youtube.  In fact there continues to be such a fantastic flow of Dino-delights bein' posted there, that if now today, likes real Dino-soon it's gonna need to be retagged Dinotube!

A recent Dino-'lert announced that a Dino-dude tagged  "johnnybegood 3" had posted a Dino-vid of one of the cool croons from the Dino-al-b-um "Dean Martin Deluxe."  It's one of the bargain bin al-b-ums from the pallies at pickwick 33, released in the year of our Dino 1974, that used selected Dino-croons from original Capitol Dino-releases.

  What has always make the al-b-um "Dean Martin Deluxe" likes so so special to us is the fabulous Dino-art that graces the cover.  It's a couple of swank sketches of our most beloved Dino with some rainbow hues thrown in for good measure.  We likes 'specially finds the image of our Dino holdin' his ever present cigarette likes totally totally incredibly irresistible!

Well, likes when we saw that Mr. "johnnybegood 3" had shared a quintet of cool cool croons from our King of Cool from this awesome al-b-um, we knew that we simply had to create a Dino-honorin' post with those neatest of neat numbers from the voice of our King of Cool.  The five-pack includes "Just In Time" (from our Dino's only big screen musicale "Bells Are Ringing," "Please Don't Talk About Me When I'm Gone," "Someday," "True Love," and "I Can't Believe You Are In Love With Me."  It's a true Dino-feast of Dino-musicality!

Hey pallies, likes we've had wee words 'bout our most beloved Dino quite often, but we are thinkin' that today's Dino-devotion may indeed be the shortest of short in all the history of sharin' Dino-adulation with Dino-holics everywhere.  Today we briefly briefly takes youse to 'nother new-to-ilovedinomartin blog tagged "CINEMABLEND" where contributin' writer Mr. Gregory Wakeman  has chosen to lift up the beloved name of our beloved Dino.

Wakeman beginnin' his prose for his fab feature, "The Best Films Of 1995, Ranked," begins is scribin's by speakin of how "very busy" the world was in 1995.  Gregory mentions a trio of significant  thin's that happened in 1995...thin's like the 'net becomin' "part of the public consciousness," and OJ Simpson bein' "found not guilty."  To our hugest of huge delight, the third  happenin' is the three word sentence "Dean Martin died."

Not, before youse gets us wrong, we are not in any any way takin' delight in our main man's demise...our King of Cool's departure from our planet.  But, likes we are deeply delighted of all the famous folks that left the planet in 1995, Mr. Wakeman purposely chose to remember our one and only Dino!  Even little mentions of our Dino like this one can prove to be hugely huge in bringin' many many more into the Dino-fold...and we are most most grateful for each and everyone pallies!

The world was very busy in 1995. The Internet became part of the public consciousness. Dean Martin died. OJ Simpson was found not guilty. And Jumanji was released. Robin Williams playing the world’s best board-game wasn’t the best thing to happen in the movies that year, though. Oh, no. In fact, cinema screens across the globe were lit up with an array of fantastic performances, delightful direction, and all-round enthralling entertainment over the course of 12 months.

Hey pallies, likes we are always awesomely  appreciative  when a pallie of ours let's us know when they have shared more Dino-patter at their pad 'cause likes as hard as we work, we simply can never ever locate all the cool Dino-devotion found all over the world wide web.  So, today, we begins by shoutin' out our deepest of deep Dino-appreciato to our pallie Mr. Bruce Cogerson.    Bruce is the same pallie who remarkably researched  all the facts 'n figures of our Dino's 51 big screen flicks and created the delightfully detailed post "Dean Martin Movies" that you can find our review of    HERE.

Case in point most recently is today's  Dino-devotion, 'gain courtesy of google Dino-'lerts, 'bout with-it rapper Mr. Kyle Hubbard from powerful  patter scribed by Mr. Joey Guerra, "music critic and pop-culture writer for the Houston Chronicle."

In this prose tagged  "Rapper Kyle Hubbard inspired by going back to Houston, Houston, Houston," Guerra beau-ti-ful-ly and boldly boasts how it was our one and only Dino who totally totally inspired rapper Hubbard to  a "new EP and a new attitude" after Kyle had "stepped away" in 2013 'cause "he was overwhelmed, disillusioned and creatively stunted."

As all youse Dino-philes will read below, it took Mr. Hubbard hearin' our Dino croonin' his classic croon "Houston" on the radio which brought him outta his funk."  Likes yet 'nother extraordinary example of the transformin' power of our Dino!

 Houston rapper Kyle Hubbard sampled the Dean Martin song "Houston" for his "Majestic Hotel"
EP.

Kyle Hubbard revs back into Houston's hip-hop scene this month with a new EP and a new attitude. And it's all thanks to Dean Martin.

The rapper stepped away from the local spotlight in 2013 after releasing critically acclaimed album "You're Not That Special." He was overwhelmed, disillusioned and creatively stunted.


"I got to a point where every song I wrote was just a lesser version of something on 'You're Not That Special,' " Hubbard says.

"I felt like I was writing and performing out of a place of obligation. The fear of putting out new music that didn't live up to my old music became way too powerful for me to handle."

He moved to Arkansas and swore off music. During that time, Hubbard heard "Houston," a 1965 tune from Martin, on the radio.

"I was floored by the fact that I couldn't recall any song in Houston's hip-hop history that sampled it," Hubbard says.


It sparked something, and he reached out to longtime producer Djay Cas, who created a beat around the Martin sample. That collaboration led to "Majestic Hotel," a seven-song EP Hubbard describes as "deep-fried, Southern soul."

Touchin' and Tender Moments Of Our Most Beloved Dino Reunitin' With His Most Beloved Partner Mr. Jerry Lewis

Hey pallies, likes we just can't gets 'nough of viewin' our most beloved Dino reunitin' with his most beloved partner Mr. Jerry Lewis on September 7, 1976 durin' the annual MDA Telethon.  So, likes today we share a bit of Dino-creativity creatin' a series of a half dozen of gifs from the early moments of the filmed reunion of our Dino and Mr. Lewis.

We are much much moved by the touchin' and tender way that our Dino walks out onto the stage and immediately  he and Mr. Lewis are locked in an exhilarating embrace with our Dino sportin' the hugest of huge Dino-buddha-grins!  And, likes at the end of the huge huge huggin', our Dino with much affection gently kisses his old partner on the cheek.

As you see below Mr. Frank Sinatra, the one who has done the remarkable deed of bringin' the comedic couple back together after twenty years has a hard time keepin' the two men apart.  And, as our last gif shows, our Dino and Mr. Lewis mostly  tenderly touches each other's cheek, showin' the world just how much the truly love each other.

Likes, we are much appreciate of how Mr. Lewis has  spoken of their relationship as "what we had was a love affair," even subtitlin' his beau-ti-ful bio "Dean And Me" as "A Love Story."  These few moments of magic captures by some simple gifs shows the world forever the deep deep devotion that our most beloved Dino had for his most beloved partner Mr. Jerry Lewis.  Truly, truly it was there awesome affection that they had for each other that made their decade long comedic capers marvelously magic for their adorin' fans!

Jimmie Tramel: Something (telethon) missing on Labor Day

Tulsans can welcome back an old friend, and they might miss a longtime companion on Labor Day 2015.

Welcome back: The Great Raft Race. From 1973-1991, in a race originally sponsored by radio station KRMG, rafters floated down the Arkansas River every Labor Day. At its peak, the race attracted more than 900 rafts. The race has been gone long enough for it to be missed, and it’s making a comeback in 2015.

Say goodbye to: The Labor Day Telethon, alias the Jerry Lewis Telethon.

Maybe this news slid under your radar, but the Muscular Dystrophy Association announced in May that its annual telethon was no more. There will be no farewell show in 2015. There will be no show, period.

“The decision to end our beloved telethon was not made lightly,” MDA President and CEO Steven M. Derks explained.

“In the last few years, the show was adjusted to reflect changes in viewership and donor patterns, and last summer’s Ice Bucket Challenge once again affirmed for us that today’s families, donors and sponsors are looking to us for new, creative and organic ways to support our mission.”

Not only was the Labor Day telethon the king of telethons (can you name another?), but also it was “the” Labor Day tradition for the television generation. You plopped down in front of the tube (if you weren’t rafting, of course) and you watched the stars come out.

If you were up for a challenge, you tried to stay awake from start to finish. The telethon started the Sunday before Labor Day and lasted 21½ hours.

If you fell asleep, you risked perhaps not seeing someone cool on the TV screen.

Who made guest appearances on the telethon? Everybody who was anybody.

Carol Burnett. Johnny Cash. Woody Allen. Stevie Wonder. Garth Brooks. Eddie Murphy. Jackie Gleason. Billy Crystal. Jerry Seinfeld. William Shatner. Cher. The Jackson 5. Milton Berle. Dolly Parton. The Rolling Stones. Robin Williams. Paul McCartney. Sammy Davis Jr. Billy Joel. Mickey Rooney. Willie Nelson. The Spice Girls. John Lennon.

You could go on and on and on.

The real-world highlight of the telethon was that it raised nearly $2 billion to help people who came to be known as “Jerry’s kids.” You can still donate if you want to surf over to mda.org.

The most memorable moment in the history of the MDA Labor Day Telethon came in 1976, when Frank Sinatra (center) arranged for Dean Martin (left) and telethon host Jerry Lewis to be reunited on stage. The comedy team of Martin and Lewis had broken up 20 years earlier

The entertainment highlight of the telethon was a feel-good moment in 1976. Frank Sinatra arranged for Lewis and Dean Martin to be reunited during the telethon broadcast. Martin and Lewis were partners in comedy before a bad breakup in 1956. They rarely spoke during the next 20 years. That’s a shame, right?

Sinatra and Lewis were on stage during the ‘76 telethon talking about the latest financial pledges when Sinatra said, “Listen, I have a friend who loves what you do every year and who just wants to come out. Would you send my friend out, please?”

Out walked Martin. The surprise would have broken Twitter, if Twitter had existed then. Martin and Lewis embraced — and Martin was careful not to burn Lewis with a lit cigarette he was holding. Martin kissed Lewis on the cheek. The studio audience responded with a standing ovation.

“There they are, folks,” Sinatra said, backing away so TV viewers could watch Martin and Lewis reconcile face-to-face. Their interplay was heartwarming and amusing. An excerpt:

Lewis: “Gee, it’s nice to see you.”

Martin: “I had to come in because I had to ‘go’ and this was the closest place.”

Lewis: “You always have to go.”

Martin: “I always drink.”

Lewis continued hosting the telethon until he announced his retirement from the show in May of 2011. That was the beginning of the end.

The telethon was cut to six hours in 2011, and it became a three-hour prime-time special in 2012, when it was renamed the MDA Show of Strength Telethon. In 2013 and 2014, the MDA Show of Strength became a two-hour entertainment special. Now? It exists only in memories.

People who grew up with the telethon enjoyed getting an annual visit from Lewis, his celebrity pals and Jerry’s kids.

Lewis used to sing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at the close of telethons.

Even if we stopped watching somewhere along the way, we’ll still miss you.

On This Day In Dino-history: September 7, 1976

 

Hey pallies, likes 'nother Labor Day  Weekend has rolled  'round and for those of us that are deeply deeply devoted to our most most beloved Dino, that means passionately  pausin' and reverently  rememberin' one of the greatest moments of supreme surprise and deepest delight in the life, times, and teachin's of our Dino.  For it was on this weekend in the year of our Dino 1976, September 7 to be precise, that Mr. Frank Sinatra did what we consider to be his greatest deed and was the catalyst to reunite our Dino with his former partner in comedy Mr. Jerry Lewis durin' the MDA's annual telethon from 'Vegas baby 'Vegas.

Today in deep, pure, and true homage of our Dino and this hugely  historic moment, we share with all youse Dino-philes some precious poses of our Dino and Mr. Lewis together after 20 years of separation.  The looks of love and affection between these two men is powerfully palpable.  And, likes of course we share with you the youtube vid clip that captures that monumental moment for eternity.  Likes every time we view it, it brings such happiness to our hearts to see our King of Cool reunite with the person who always has and always will know him better then anyone else.

We gets perfectly pure pleasure in seein' our Dino saunter out on the stage, ever present Kent cigarette in hand with that hugest of huge Dino-buddha-grin on his face and see Mr. Jerry Lewis emotionally  embrace him as he approaches.  Seein' these two men show such awesome affection for each other brings a rapturous response from our hearts each and every time we views it!  And to hear the powerful patter between 'em, of course, totally unrehearsed, takes us back to the days when they ruled the world of comedy together.

Dean Martin Road: Sure, you know Sinatra, but some (especially those under 30) in and out of the city may not know Martin's name. For nearly three decades, Martin was one of the hottest entertainers in town. He was an actor, singer and performer — among other things — who later befriended Sinatra and formed "the Rat Pack." Dean Martin Drive and Frank Sinatra Drive run parallel on either side of the I-15. He's one of a few who has had the lights of the Las Vegas Strip dimmed in his honor after death.

He recalled an episode when Dean Martin was holed up in a Baltimore hospital with an ailment.....

Hey pallies, likes just when we were plannin' to share some more potent pixs of our most beloved Dino and his beloved wife, Jeanne Biegger, continuin' to remember the date when they tied the knot, we received a google Dino-'lert that is sendin' us in a different Dino-direction today.  From the pallies at the on-line presence of "The Washington Times," comes an interview with Mr. Frank Sinatra's namesake Mr. Frank Sinatra, Jr.

Scribed by reporter, Mr. Eric Althoff, "Sinatra’s son to pay homage to father’s centennial with Wolftrap concert" accents one of a series of concerts that Sinatra Jr. is doin' in homage of his father's birth coming up on December 12 of this year.  As part of the inteview Frank Jr. shares a marvelous moment in the friendship between his father and our most beloved Dino.  Likes we don't want to take any glory away from this stellar story, all we are goin' to say is it's 'bout a "pratical joke" that Mr. Sinatra plays on our main man while he was in the hospital.

Mr. Sinatra had a front-row seat to the bacchanalia his father and his cronies reveled in during the 1950s and ‘60s, which included a steady stream of practical jokes.

He recalled an episode when Dean Martin was holed up in a Baltimore hospital with an ailment, and the doctors and staff wouldn’t allow him the use of a telephone or any “creature comforts.”

“He scribbled on a piece of paper a message, and he bribed some kid that worked in the hospital” to take a message to Western Union to send to Sinatra in California, asking if he might “bail out” Martin from the hospital, he said.

“So the next day,” Mr. Sinatra said, “at Dean’s room in the hospital, a big package arrived and it was an Army surplus parachute.”

Hey pallies, likes seein' how yesterday was the 66th anniversary of our most beloved Dino's marriage to Miss Jeanne Biegger, on a lark, we thought it woulda be kinda cool to use google image search to seee what sorta poses of our Dino and Jeanne might turn up.  We were delighted to find a number of images of our main man and his main woman includin' the  image below that we found on the web presence of none other then the Chicago Tribune.

Likes we totally totally grooves on the tag of the candid that the Tribune gives to this powerful pose that we ain' remembered seein' before, "The Dean...and we truly truly loves that Dino-buddha-grin on our King of Cool's face...likes indeed the pair seem to be havin' a great night on the town.  The description added to the image states "Singer Dean Martin and his wife, former model Jeanne Biegger, in 1957."

On This Day In Dino-history: September 1, 1949

Hey pallies, likes on this day, September 1 in the year of our Dino 1949,  the weddin' bells did chime for our most beloved Dino and his beauty queen bride Miss Jeanne Biegger. Dino and Miss Jeanne, wife numero duo, tied the knot at  the pad of Mr. Herman Hover.

As we, with the deepest of devotion,  remember this day of absolute bliss for our Dino, ilovedinomartin shares with you a post that Deanager Catie shared at her tumblr blog, "They always look better at night..," on this day of Dino-significance, last in 2012.  Our Catie combines an outstandin' weddin' pix of the beau-ti-ful couple with some potently powerful  prose scribed by Mr. Jerry Lewis from his magnificant Dino-bio, "Dean and Me: A Love Story."

Just likes we  totally totally  grooves to be likes readin' these kind of glorious Dino-details....and these reflections from Mr. Lewis notin' the extremely close relationship that our most beloved Dino had with his bestest of best pallie Jerry.

You just got out of a marriage,” I said. “What the fuck are you rushing into another one for?”

He just stared at me, shocked that I had hit the issues on the button. I hurried to explain myself. “Forgive me, Paul.” I said. “Jeanne’s a great girl, and I think she would follow you to the ends of the earth. I know she would wait until you were ready. And there are four kids to think about.”

Dean thought for a moment. “Listen Jer,” he said. “You know me better than anyone, so what I say is between us. I do worry about my kids. But this feels so right. So strong.”

I nodded, finally understanding that he was really in love, and probably for the first time. “It’s your life, pal,” I told him. “And you have to do what’s best for you. You’ve always taken care of your kids; now it’s your turn to take care of yourself. Everything’ll fall into place.”

He threw his arms around me in a bear hug and whispered into my ear: “Thanks, Jer.”

As it turned out, Jeanne was the best thing that ever happened to Dean.
