Glasgow cop captures spirit of Games
A Glasgow policeman has been credited with encapsulating the spirit of the Commonwealth Games after he was caught on camera dancing with a visitor.
The video - filmed by a member of the crowd - was quickly shared on Facebook and Twitter and viewed by thousands, reports The Scotsman.
It shows the unidentifed policeman dancing with a woman to Dean Martin's How Do You Like Your Eggs in the Morning, in the city's Hutcheson street.
People took to social media to show their support and most hoped the policeman wouldn't be censured for his actions.
Ross McCafferty of Glasgow, tweeted: "Dancing policeman is quality. Let's hope he doesn't get his collar felt."
Laura Rafferty wrote: "People make Glasgow" after seeing the video, while Gerry from Glasgow, dubbed him 'PC Twinkletoes'.

Amanda Goodfellow posted on Facebook that it was great to see the police "getting into the spirit of the Games" and showing visitors what Glasgow is all about.

DINO WAS HERE: INTERIOR INSPIRATION FROM MY FAVORITE MUSICIANS
If you’re a big music junkie like me, you may like to look to your favorite artists for inspiration in your everyday life – beauty, fashion, fitness and diet regimens (can’t get much better thanCarrie Underwood’s legs, am I right?), and even interior design. Celebrities, especially successful recording artists, are known for their luxurious custom homes. It’s not just about the location anymore; it’s about amenities and comfort when they’re not on tour.Dean Martin, musician, actor, and comedian for a better part of the 20th century, was known for his luxurious homes, most of which were in southern California.
Here we’ll take a look into Dean Martin’s style and I’ll show you a couple ways in which you can incorporate the look into your own home. While reading, why not listen to Dino’s Complete Collection on Spotify.
1) The glass coffee table. From 1955 – 1972, Dino and his wife, Jeanne, lived at 601 Mountain Drive in Beverly Hills. Here Dino, Jeanne and the kids found their dream mansion and settled into family life. The ‘wood and firestone’ house had three servants, six cars, a swimming pool and tennis courts (back to those comfortable amenities I was talking about). He paid $225,000 for the mansion, and lived in the home until he and Jeanne were divorced in 1972.
This photograph of Dean and Jeanne in 1966 shows him reading on their mid-century modern sofa with exposed wooden legs, paired with a glass-top coffee table (complete with a cocktail, of course). This glass-top coffee table can transfer well into any modern-day living room; today glass-top tables are one of the most popular picks for any interior space – homes, offices, and retail spaces. Glass-top coffee tables come with a variety of practical advantages.
2) Accent Wallpaper.Dean and Jeanne really loved raising their children in the Beverly Hills home. Here, Dean spars with his son in their wallpapered breakfast nook. Home buyers today usually scoff at existing wallpaper because it is hard to remove and is usually specific to the previous homeowner’s design taste. Although, wallpaper can be a great alternative to paint finishes. Perhaps, the most obvious benefit to using wallpaper is the huge variety of decorating options you have. Wallpaper can be used in many different ways: from adding a border to the room, an accent wall, a backdrop for built in shelves, or a complete wall-covering for an entire room. With wallpaper you can choose from thousands of patterns, colors, and designs to fit any style. Additionally, some wallpaper can be painted, allowing you to put some texture in the room while customizing it with your favorite paint color.

Think about Dean softly singing the second verse, "Everybody finds somebody someplace ... and that time is now."
Hey pallies, likes the wisest of wise philosophers are the ones whose teachin's continued to be studied long after they are gone from the planet. Fremont Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Rob Brown: Time is now to seize opportunity
POSTED: 07/25/2014 11:55:47 AM MDT
When I was a very young child, I can remember my parents watching the Dean Martin Variety Show on television. For the younger readers' benefit, Martin was an accomplished crooner and popular actor during the 1950s, 60s and 70s, which landed him on a very popular television show bearing his name.
Martin was well loved for his smooth melodies and simple lyrics. Based on the lyrics of his signature tune, "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime," I think he may have also been an amazing economic developer.
It was clearly evident in the iconic song when he sang about the importance of personally looking for opportunities and taking advantage of them as soon as they arise.
If he had applied that philosophy to an economic development effort, his results would have been exceptional.
Think about Dean softly singing the second verse, "Everybody finds somebody someplace ... and that time is now."
The time is now for the people of Fremont County to seize any opportunity to improve the economy by identifying that "Somebody" from their daily lives who possibly would be interested in doing business here. Each of us is in a position to make a difference.
Many of Fremont County's successful business acquisition stories began with personal invitations from people within the community.
They simply took it upon themselves to identify the prospect and then took advantage of assistance from Fremont Economic Development Corp.'s vast network of business professionals to help seal the deal.
Selling Fremont County as a business destination never has been easier.
Our county offers advantages to incoming businesses that far exceed many other locations.
One major advantage is the quality of life for employees and executives, which greatly improves employee retention, a key element in business success.
It is easy for employees to work where they want to live when they live in a county that offers:
•world-class recreation,
•a beautiful mild climate,
•a love for the arts,
•a rich local history,
•low tax rates,
•low property costs,
•a ready work force and
•small-town charm with the benefits of being located in close proximity to larger cities.
Additional enticements to doing business in our county include abundant available vacant land and real estate and capable construction professionals who are able to build whatever is desired.
The county also is conveniently located on U.S. 50, which makes for easy and efficient travel and shipping.
All we need are opportunities to share these benefits in a personal manner, and our county will sell itself.
As Dean Martin said, "Everybody finds somebody someplace." Our someplace is Fremont County.
Please feel free to contact me through the FEDC Office at (719) 275-8601 or email brown@fedc.cofor additional information or assistance.
Rob Brown is the executive director of the Fremont Economic Development Corp.

'til I began to see your face in every magazine
I don't want other kisses
Only yours will do
Don't you know that it's breaking my heart
Forgetting you
I tried to stay at home and pace the floor and watch the clock routine
'til I began to see your face in every magazine
I don't want other kisses
Only yours will do
Don't you know that it's busting my heart
Forgetting you
Forgetting you
Forgetting you
With somebody new
Don't you know that I'm playing a part
Forgetting you
I still want you to want me
Though you said we're through
Can't you see that I don't want to start

On This Day In Dino-history: July 25, 1946
Today's Dino-remembrance comes from the blog pad "Triviazoids - Day-To-Day Look At History Links" by Mr. Brad Williams. Likes everythin' our Dino does it likes so so perfect...to the point that the team of Martin and Lewis performed for exaxtly 10 years to the day....beginnin' July 26, 1946 and endin' as we shared yesterday on July 25, 1956. Certainly was the decade of comedic brillance between our beloved Dino and the Mr. Lewis.
So so loves rememberin' and honorin' these most most important days in the life and times of our amazin' King of Cool. ilovedinomartin sez our thanks to Mr. Brad Williams for rememberin' and honorin' this very very special day in the life and times of our most beloved Dino! On This Day In Dino-history: July 24, 1956
Hey pallies, likes 58 years ago this very day, July 24, in 1956 our most beloved Dino had likes his hugest of hugest endin' and likes his newest of newest beginnin' when he called it quits with his partner, Mr. Jerry Lewis...exactly a decade after they had created the greatest comedy partnership in all of world history.
Likes it has becomes likes a tradition on this most historic of historic Dino-day to revisit a stunnin' retellin' of what happened on that last night Martin and Lewis took the stage at the Copacabana....truly some deeply heart-felt insights 'bout our Dino and Mr. Lewis' last gig together shared at the blog "Frontier Net."
From the writings "The Copacabana, An Illustrated History" by Kristin Baggleaar comes some deeply deeply devoted details of our Dino and Mr. Lewis' swan song. So, sit back and reflect on the meanin's of likes this most bitter-sweet day in all of Dino-history.
Likes as we often do on this day, 'gain likes gotta 'fess up pallies, likes for years we had zip, zero, nadda appreciato for Mr. Jerry Lewis whatsoever, and felt that the split-up was exactly what Lewis deserved. But, ever since readin' Lewis' tome "Dean and Me: A Love Story," we have grown in our understandin' and appreciato of just how much Mr. Lewis loved, and still loves our most beloved Dino!
In fact, we have become likes totally totally jealous of Mr. Lewis 'cause he got to spend 10 intimate and glorious years with the coolest person ever to walk the face of the earth...and got to know our Dino better then any other person alive ever has or ever will. What coulda be more wonderful then that! In fact, we remember in readin' in Tosches' outstandin' Dino-bio that Lewis was jealous of Jeanne and Jeanne was equally jealous of Lewis...and who could blame 'em...they each wanted our Dino for themselves...and don't we all likes feel likes that same Dino-way?!?!?!
Anyway, on this special Dino-day in Dino-history we remember the legacy that our Dino and Mr. Lewis had together, and see this endin' as a hugely important new beginnin' for our most beloved Dino. Dino-rememberin', DMP
The Copacabana
An Illustrated History by Kristin Baggelaar
.
By summer 1956, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis officially announced that they were breaking up as a team; however, together they were committed to one last engagement at the Copacabana. Perhaps because it was the last time they would ever work together, Martin and Lewis' final two-week stand at the Copa did a record-breaking business.
The diminished floorshow space was a tribute to their draw and mass impact. The Doug Coudy production numbers were curtailed as the acts, including the personable dance team of Conn & Mann, were stage waits for the headliners. Martin & Lewis worked with smoothness and no apparent personal friction despite all the press about their rift, but some dissension was evident with their Pardners bit, a cafe trailer for their soon-to-be released Paramount film of the same name. To their professional credit they played it straight, with Lewis foiling for Martin's crooning, and likewise, Martin foiling for his partner's clowning. While both were well received, it was felt that solo or team, the impact was not as resounding as in the past until their final night. Every celebrity in Manhattan was in the audience to witness the pair's swan song of one of the greatest comedy acts in history. They pulled out every schtick in their comedy bag for the star-studded crowd, from squirting seltzer down Milton Berle's shirt front to cutting off Monte Proser's necktie. The sophisticated cafe crowd wouldn't let them quit.
The final moments of the last show of their farewell engagement at the Copa on a hot Tuesday night, July 24, 1956, are pressed indelibly in the minds of those who were present. Martin's face was impassable, cool to the end. They finished with the final crescendo from Pardners: "You and me, we'll be the greatest pardners, buddies, and pals!" They joined hands for a last bow. Martin hugged Lewis. The audience exploded in an emotional uproar. Jackie Gleason jumped up and grabbed the mike, wiped away a tear, and said, "Folks, this can't be allowed to happen." The audience roared its approval, but Martin & Lewis just shook their heads, no. It was over. There was no encore. Martin took one aisle away from the floor; Lewis took the other.

Arts fundraiser serves martinis
By Antonio Jackson
July 23, 2014.
July 23, 2014.
Sweet spirits will be readily available for those able to attend the Dean Martini event tomorrow at the Greenville Museum of Art at 6 p.m.
Dean Martin is an actor, performer, and singer from the ‘50s. Born is Steubenville, Ohio, he is known for his crooning-style of singing. Throughout the ‘60s and mid ‘80s, Dean Martin hosted two television shows in The Dean Martin Show and The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast.
The fundraiser will be a cross between a ‘50s costume party and an art experience, along with skinny tie attire and live music. Cosmos, Peach and Dirty martinis will be among the available sweet spirits.
“We get very little funds from the city of Greenville,” said Megan Maxwell, operations and programs manager of The Greenville Museum of Art. “Most of our funding comes from fundraising, memberships, and the public.”
As budgets are tight for the museum, the Dean Martini event will run primarily through volunteer effort. Bailey’s Fine Jewelry will also help by donating a set of earrings to be raffled off. For the men, a silver flask will be raffled.
As a small thank you to the donating members and attending public, the museum will give back by briefly elevating them to the local celebrity status they deserve.
“There is going to be red carpet for people when they arrive, and there will be paparazzi to take photos,” said Maxwell.
Food will be provided by some local favorites in Starlight Café, China 10, and Marabella. Local musician, Joe Distefano, will provide the sounds of actor and performer Dean Martin, in addition to other tunes of the ‘50s. Local artist, Roger Kammerer, will be showcasing his drawings of Dean Martin during the event. He will also be providing live caricature drawings.
The Greenville Museum of Art has been doing “art-tini” related events for three years now and hopes to continue the tradition. Other “tini” related events revolve around popular holidays.
“There are three right now. We have the Hallowini, Valentini, and Dean Martini,” said Charlotte Fitz Daniels, Executive Director of The Greenville Museum of Art. “I kind of like the fufu martinis: I like the lemon-drop a lot.”
Unfortunately, the lemon-drop martini will not be served during the event.
“We really just want to get people to love the museum as much as we do,” said Maxwell. “We want to spread the word about our community outreach programs. We are trying to do more to get people in the museum and make it a fun community event.”
Dean Martini is a fundraising event for The Greenville Museum of Art. Sponsors of the event include Halloween Express who will set up decorations, Starlight Café, and China 10. To attend, it is $20 for members of The Greenville Museum of Art and $30 for non-members.
