Hey pallies, likes today's Dino-gram to youse is likes pretty short, and likes pretty sweet! We here at ilovedinomartin loves to reflect on the life, times, and teachin's of our most beloved Dino. There are tons and tons of posts that we have shared that awesomely accent our Dino's life and times, but sadly much fewer that revealin'ly reflect on our master Dino's teachin's 'cause in our opinion there are far too few folks who revel in our Dino as not only the knowledgeable knower, and incredible imparter of all worldly wisdom.
Likes that's why we are so so psyched to be able to share today's wonderful wisdom from an obvious lover of our great great man along with a youtube vid of a "lovely song." From the blog "CROONER Stars," where the "Admin" has shared the post "Dean Martin- Money burns a hole in my pocket." Indeed, it is a lovely Dino-croon, but what really drew us to sharin' this post is these wisest of wise words from the poster, " A lot a Dino’s songs are beautiful and a lot are interesting but this one just speaks the truth!"
How it warms our hearts to find 'nother devotee of our most beloved Dino who understands him as a stunnin' speaker of tremendous truths! Far to many folks think that our Dino's croonin' is simply for entertainin' purposes. Yes, our Dino is the great entertainer to ever walk our planet, but so so often he is also the incredible inparter of worldly wisdom as well...as noted by this Dino-scriber in the tune, "Money Burns A Hole In My Pocket."
ilovedinomartin salutes "Admin" for understandin' our Dino's role as teacher extraordinare and sharin' that fact with the readers of "CROONER Stars." To checks this out in it's original format, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-report. Dino-learnin', DMP
Dean Martin- Money burns a hole in my pocket
A lot a Dino’s songs are beautiful and a lot are interesting but this one just speaks the truth! Hope you enjoy it! it’s a lovely song
Hey pallies, likes here's yet 'nother Dino-focused post from our Dino-devoted pallie Mr. Michael Perry at his self-tagged blog, "Mike's Take On The Movies." This time 'round Perry has accented one of our most beloved Dino's swingin' 60's sex farces, "Marriage On The Rocks." We digs Michael's mixin' of prose, pixs, and poster to accent this film that features his pallie Mr. Frank Sinatra and respected actress Miss Deborah Kerr.
This is 'nother one of those flicks where our Dino does it perfectly 'cause it is simply Dino playin' his ever cool, hip, and randy self. Perry nails it with this incredible insight...."It’s Dean who comes off best doing just what we expect of him. Drink in hand playing up to the ladies with one goal in mind."
As ever, watchin' Dino play Dino is always always worth the price of admission!
Likes we 'gain salute Dino-diggin' movin' lovin' pallie Mr. Michael Perry for 'nother huge huge homagin' of our King of Cool! To checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram. Dino-delightedly, DMP
On occasion I have been known to say that even Frank Sinatra wanted to be Dean Martin for a day. Who wouldn’t. The man was one of the supreme kings of cool. This non-rat pack film allowed Frank to do just that. On screen at least.
Frank is about to celebrate 19 years of marriage with Deborah Kerr and things are somewhat stale as far as Deborah’s concerned. Frank is blind to the situation and married to his job as the president of an ad agency. He’s heard to utter “She’s happy and contented as a cow” when talking of his dear wife.
His right hand man is of course Martin. While Frank is domesticated, Dino is far from it portraying a playboy with the ultimate bachelor pad to go with it. Just take a look at Dino’s secretary played by one of cinema’s unheralded blonde bombshell’s Joi Lansing. Hot stuff!
When Frank finally agrees to a Mexican vacation with Deborah, it quickly turns into a Mexican divorce. Before either leaves the country they realize it’s all been a hasty mistake and it’s time to right the wrong.
One thing leads to another and Frank can’t make the nuptials and sends Dean to explain. Between the loud Mexican music and a spanish speaking minister Dean finds himself married. To Deborah! No worries as divorce lawyer Cesar Romero can put the whole thing legally right.
That is if he can get Deborah’s signature on the latest set of divorce papers. If it all sounds a bit like an old Flintstone episode you may be right because just like Wilma, Deborah isn’t signing and expects Frank to fight for her.
This is sure to cramp Dean’s style. Now he’s the old married man living with Kerr and family while Frank takes up residence in Dean’s pad. Women and all.
Can Dean right the ship and put the divorced couple back together and once again take up with his rather busty secretary? Tune in to this screwball comedy that’s about 25 years too late to find out. Having said that if you enjoy the leading actors it’s diverting enough. It’s Dean who comes off best doing just what we expect of him. Drink in hand playing up to the ladies with one goal in mind.
Filling out the cast along with a quick talking Cesar Romero is Tony Bill, Kathleen Freeman, DeForest Kelley and stepping in on the musical front is Trini Lopez. It’s too bad we don’t get to hear our two legendary singers belt out a drunken tune or sing something soft and romantic to the ladies.
Also playing Frank’s daughter on screen is real life daughter Nancy Sinatra for the trivia fans.
Hey pallies, likes today we return to familiar Dino-territory....a blog tagged "Mike's Take On The Movies," where cinema-holic Mr. Michael Perry hands his hat. Mr. Perry's bio tells us that he " has been collecting films and film memorabilia since he was a 12 years old. He currently has amassed over 7000 titles and his collection of films, film books and memorabilia continues to expand." And, likes of course Perry has him some of our Dino's big screen efforts as part of his collection.
On two different occasions we have been privileged here at ilovedinomartin to share previous patter on Mike's takes on our Dino's last western, "Showdown," HERE and on the Dino and Jerry caper, "Money From Home," HERE. Today we are deeply delighted to share Mike's most recent piece of Dino-devotion tagged "Dean Martin and the Western Poster Gallery."
Perry begins his wise words with the beautifully bold passionate proclamation, "When it comes to Dean Martin, I’m a fan." Nothin' more delightin' to us here at ilovedinomartin then here 'nother Dino-holic openly speak of there delight in our most beloved Dino! This particular homage of our Dino includes a few words 'bout many of our Dino's westerns and then stunnin' poster images from each of the flicks.
So enjoys some Dino-pleasure a la our main man's fav sorta flicks. We salute Mr. Mike Perry for sharin' his powerful passion for our Dino in western mode! To checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-report. Dino-delightedly, DMP
When it comes to Dean Martin, I’m a fan. Be it a comedy, romance or drama. Makes no difference. Singing? When he’s on my car radio, don’t touch the dial till the songs over! Now cast him in a western and you’ve got me hooked. His carefree attitude suits any genre he appeared in. When it comes to the on screen cowboys he played that attitude rides in the saddle all the easier.
Dino first played in a western for laughs opposite partner Jerry Lewis in 1956 but it was Howard Hawks and the Duke that gave him his first real taste of gun play.
Fun and games with Frank and company. Sergeants 3 and this star studded extravaganza.
Back with the Duke for a fun bit of action and revenge, western style. “Mr. Hastings, you know everybody around here: Can you tell us who is the dirty stinkin’ lowdown rat that shot our pa? ”
Riding for laughs with French heart throb Alain Delon.
“You killed him, you bury him! ”
“You just walked into a bank and helped yourself to ten thousand dollars ’cause it seemed like the thing to do? ”
Playing stud with Roddy and solving mysteries opposite Mitchum.
In 1971 Dean played another oater for laughs opposite Brian Keith in “something big” and hit the trail for one last Showdown opposite Rock Hudson in 1973.
Hey pallies, likes today we gets a lesson in Dino-history from the new-to-ilovedinomartin blog "JAQUO" where columnist Miss Jackie Jackson retells the Dino-tale, "When Jerry Lewis saved Dean Martin from an angry mobster."
We don't wanna shares any of the details of how Mr. Lewis rescued his most beloved partner Dino from a mobster, 'cause then you wouldn't have any reason to read the prose below. Since Miss Jackson included a pix of the cover of Mr. Lewis' tome of amore to our Dino, "Dean & Me - A Love Story," we are quite certain that her retellin' comes directly from the Lewis book...and reminds us that it is more then time for us to reread Lewis' retellin' of their decade long partnership and friendship.
Indeed, it was this volume that made us see how deeply Mr. Lewis cherished his relationship with our Dino and changed hugely how we perceived Lewis himself.
We thanks Miss Jackie Jackson for sharin' this important moment in our Dino's journey and the pallies at "JAQUO" for puttin' into print to draw many many into deeper, purer, and truer devotion to our main man. Jerry Lewis saves Dean Martin from the Mob
When Jerry Lewis saved Dean Martin from an angry mobster
For ten years, ‘Italian-stallion’ Dean Martin and the rather less fortunate-looking Jerry Lewis worked as a double act.
They worked together for ten years – from 1946 until 1956. They were popular on television but also toured the country performing in nightclubs.
It was in one of these that Dean Martin was very nearly shot by a mobster – until Jerry Lewis stepped in.
And as you might expect, it was over a woman.
Dean Martin was known as something of a heart throb in those days. But, considering what many Hollywood stars of the times were like, his marital life was rather restrained. He married three times, that’s quite subdued for entertainers in those days.
His first marriage lasted eight years and it produced four children. His wife became dependant on alcohol which could have been the cause of the marriage breakdown. Dean was granted custody of the children.
He was with his second wife for twenty four years during which time three children were born. There was a further three year marriage too.
It’s quite difficult to find anyone who knew him that has a bad word to say about him.
But many people will admit that he loved the ladies.
In the nineteen forties and fifties, it was virtually impossible to be an entertainer in the United States without coming into contact with the Mob.
This was particularly the case for those like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis who were entertaining in casinos and nightclubs – most were owned or controlled by the Mob and it was hard to avoid them. This was particularly the case in South Florida.
The double acts was performing in Miami. In his book, Jerry Lewis doesn’t name it, just in case there are people around who remember the event. There was a young woman in the audience who caught Dean’s eye. She was sitting with a rather grumpy-looking boyfriend.Dean did what he generally did when he spied a gorgeous girl in the audience, he performed entirely to her – singing and flirting from the stage.
When the show was over, Jerry Lewis headed to the men’s room.
There he found Dean and the young lady’s grumpy boyfriend standing face-to-face. But what Jerry noticed immediately was that the boyfriend was pointing a .38 special directly at Dean’s stomach. And he wasn’t larking around. What’s more, Jerry recognised him as one of Meyer Lansky’s men, but what he calls ‘one of the crazy gangsters.
He explains that these crazy gangsters have hair-trigger tempers and are likely to bump anyone off given the slightest provocation – and think no more about it. Without thinking, Jerry stepped between the two men. The gun was now pointing at his stomach. He then, to put it into his words, proceeded to do the ‘verbal tap dance of my life’.
‘You have to understand’ he told the gangster ‘ people make mistakes. That’s why they have erasers on pencils’. He went on to explain that Dean had made a mistake when he had crooned at the mobster’s girlfriend but he offered him his hand to shake and said that he gave him his word of honor that he would make sure that Dean never did it again. In other words, Jerry grovelled.
Gradually, the mobster lowered the gun. Giving Dean and Jerry evils looks, he holstered his gun and left the men’s room.
The two partners stared at each other. They were both white in the face with fear. Then Dean broke the deafening silence. He said:
I’ve never seen a more stupid sonofabitch – you could have been killed!
Hey pallies, likes in doin' a wee bit of searchin' for info on the Dino/Alan King connection spoken of in last Saturday's Dino-gram, we happened upon a review of Mr. King's bio, “Name-Dropping: The Life and Lies of Alan King.” by our Dino-lovin' pallie Otto of "THE OTTO FILES" - “WHERE THE CLASSICS NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE.”
What we were thrilled to discover is that King spent a whole chapter of his volume accentin' his friendship with our Dino and you can read Otto's reflections below. And, likes doin' a bit more googlin' we found several pages of his chapter 4 tagged "DEAN" for our Dino-edification...very very cool Dino-read for sure!!!!! And, likes if you clicks HERE youse will be able to enjoy his Dino-reflections for youself at Google Books.
We thanks our Dino-devoted pallie Otto of "THE OTTO FILES" for this insight into the life and times of our most beloved Dino. Likes if you wanna reads the whole post, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram. Dino-delightedly, DMP
He has a wonderful chapter in the book about his friend Dean Martin. Back before Dean Martin was Dean Martin of “Martin & Lewis” or Alan King was “Alan King of ‘The Ed Sullivan Show,'” they shared an apartment in New York with Sonny King and their agent, Lou Perry. Actually, it was Lou Perry’s place but he let his young, struggling clients stay with him until they could make some real dough. He provides some interesting and humorous background on his friend Dean Martin and then ends the chapter on a very touching note. He’d heard that Dean, at the end of his life, used to have dinner at the same Italian restaurant every night by himself. King was in L.A. and went to the restaurant and surprised Dean. Martin was so happy to see King that he both laughed and cried. King writes, “I went back to my hotel thinking about him, my vagabond friend. He was a gambler, a drinker, a womanizer – all the good things.”

Hey pallies, likes it seems the world is simply full of pallies who are waitin' to get their Dino-encounters posted on the web and our pallies at google 'lerts and bringin' more and more of these Dino-tales to our attention. Case in point, yester-Dino-day an 'lert came 'cross our email pointin' us in the direction of the on-line presence of the "Miami Herald" where there special feature of a Miami
area resident, Miss Iris Marks whose personal prose, "Miami Stories: Dancer shares tales of beloved husband and Golden Era," features her personal relationship with our most beloved Dino.
In her section, "A few tidbits about me," Miss Marks shares how she had the amazin' opportunity to actually be the openin' act for our Dino and Mr. Alan King and to have our Dino takes her out dancin' after hours. The most amazin' thin' that Miss Iris shares is that our Dino "proposed to (her) then." Her tender age and her mother stood in the way of acceptin' the proposal. I'm sure she wonders how her life woulda changed in she had indeed becomes Mrs. Dean Martin.
We are thrilled to share this revealin' revelation and well as other Dino-remarks that Marks shares below. We will be tryin' to do a bit of researchin' to see if we can determine the approximate time frame when this happened. We are grateful to Miss Iris Marks for sharin' her personal Dino-encounter and to the folks at the "Miami Herald" for puttin' it in print. Miami Stories: Dancer shares tales of beloved husband and Golden Era
By Iris Marks Special to the Miami Herald
A few tidbits about me: I was a dancer. I was the opening act for Dean Martin and Alan King. When I worked with Dean in Philadelphia we used to go dancing after hours. He did not drink whiskey but did drink iced tea. He put on the act of drinking all the time, but that was not true. He proposed to me then. I was too young to take that responsibility. It would have been fun I’m sure, but my mom said no. I kept in touch with him and called him years later when he and his family were interviewed by Edward R. Murrow (in Philly).
Hey pallies, likes hablas español ? Likes that's 'bout all the spanish that we remember...and likes today we wishes that we coulda speaks fluent spanish 'cause our very very special Dino-devotion is found at the blog "Le Nouveau Fanzine"...."The New Fanzine" where blogger Mr. JO NI CAS scribed his hugest of huge homage of our most beloved Dino, "Life according to Dean Martin." It's marvelous mix of powerful pixs and provocative prose sprinkled with a couple of classic vid clips.
Our problemo is that we know that the translation that we were able to have made from the original spanish clearly clearly does not do JO NI Cas's prose justice. This obvious deep devotee of our Dino has crafted a rich rich retellin' of the Dino-story from Steubenville, Ohio to as JO NI CAS -presses it..."THE SLOW ROAD TO ETERNITY."
What we can tell is that is JO NI CAS has come under the incredible influence of our Dino's greatest of great biographer Mr. Nick Tosches. There are words and phrases that are woven into this text that come directly from "DINO: Living High In The Dirty Business Of Living." We are thrilled to have 'nother extraordinary example of the international scope of devotion to our Dino, but are saddened that we are unable to comprehend this in the original spanish 'cause we know that JO NI CAS's wondrous words are certainly much much more cool, hip, and randy in original.
If any of you pallies do hablas español, we woulda mucho appreciate your help in sharin' the real riches of this text from the mother tongue. We salute Mr. JO NI CAS for his energetic effort in the cause of our Dino! To checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram. Life according to Dean Martin (no other, but it's boring)
DINO CROCETTI DEAN MARTIN GOING THROUGH A DINO MARTINI
Dino Paul Crocetti was born in Steubenville, Ohio. The son of Italian immigrants spoke only Italian until age five he had to go to school. He soon realized that the studies were not your thing, however, far from unintelligent soon showed that it was very good playing dice and cards and with 12 years and did some work as a messenger for the Mafia boss Local. Much more fun than being all day between books without doubt. At age 16 he started boxing, but even began to emerge realized that his hook with the girls was incompatible with hook boxing. Fearing spoiling her beautiful face had to be decided by less dangerous hobbies like betting on horse racing, bootlegger during Prohibition or dealer in a casino.
But if something like Dino was definitely sing, Bing Crosby admired and wanted to be like his idol. In the summer of 1934 he sang for the first time in a club and even cared to imitate Crosby once people saw in his songs his own personality, optimism, passion and above all that relaxed air that made him charming. In recent years changes its name Dino Martini, taking advantage of a certain Nino Martini was triumphing among the younger audience. "A household name saves half the work" - Dean thought. However, after the outbreak of World War he understood that in the fervent patriotism need his name had to sound more American, so it definitely was as Dean Martin. After the first few years with the orchestra Watkins decides to stand alone. Those were the days when Frank Sinatra was beginning to succeed and the comparisons were inevitable. The club owners are raffled to one or the other. But they had to be on their posters. Sinatra while women earned with his voice and his ballads, Dean was much smarter, making each performance a show in itself. From their dress, look, speak to the public ... in fact more focused strategy was to gain the trust of men, women and would follow their hand.
DEAN AND THE NUMBERS
Betty McDonald married with one child relationship is constantly reeling from the Dean put little interest in compromise. In one of those breaks he would stay at Lou Perry that 35% of their income would his representative and home. With them would Sonny King so they would take turns a bed for three, two together and one on the ground to exacting shifts. 35% of Perry had to add 10% agreed that the orchestra Watkins let him free. His manner was better than the way you add it in your eagerness to succeed Dick Richards gave him another 20% two to the popular representative Lou Costello (Abbott & Costello) 25% to get her performances. Had just signed with MCA also that 10% of its revenues are reserved. Numbers so doing everything I earned nothing would stop his pocket. But who needs to numbers when you Dean Martin? While you something to eat and Lou Perry dressed him and pay him drink all would be well. Plus everyone won, no problem. Well, maybe when he gave up another 10% to the director of a radio program that had hired him ...
When creditors, who knew more mathematics than the Dino himself, discovered that it had sold 110% of their rights and campaba by the cheerful and uninhibited world to pay the debt they sued for fraud. Dean was declared insolvent so that the judge had no doubt it was released at not being able to collect the debt. In the end Dean would get Lou Perry as the only representative and Betty as the only way to sleep peacefully.
The organ and the monkey
When Dean Martin came the script for his new film with Jerry Lewis he went angrily looking for it, - "What is it that I do police new police and even I have principles, I will never do to! police. " When Jerry Lewis said it was his film and would do what he said, a uniform and a few sharp words ended a run of 16 successful films. Lewis played the lead, knew that the script would really annoy Martin and it was impossible to make him something.
Who would have thought that would end it? It was March 1945 when the young comic 19 years walking with his friend Sonny King did Times Square when suddenly King saw in the street something that caught his attention, along with a small gray man walking a big, handsome guy and a luxuriant black hair, "what kind of presumptuous guy can wear a suit of camel's hair?" Your escort him out of doubt "Dean Martin, is Dean Martin!" and then he crossed the street grabbing arm Lewis. King presented the promising singer of 28 years and the four began to talk about trivial things, when an attractive and elegant woman passed them. A few steps then turned to Dean with a smile on his face. Dean somehow knew and turned his head to match that smile. They were just two seconds and Lewis realized his friend and the little gray man idolized Dean for it, that absolute and unconscious on the will of any woman who were at his side control. A few minutes later, Lewis would join the list of admirers of Dean Martin. From that day the comedian Dean try to beat whenever he could, when cartel agreed on some combination was perfect, his antics, grimaces and imitations married perfectly with the tender ballad singer of Italian origin. And while Dean was quite reluctant to agree with Jerry, imposing rooms and businesses forced a duo that became a classic and had just formed the duo ... "how do we call, Lewis & Martin or Martin & Lewis ? - he asked Martin Lewis "It is best to be in alphabetical order," the singer replied, "We'll call Martin & Lewis", "" but Lewis L M comes before Martin. ". - "Of course my D Dean J comes before you, we will be the duo Martin & Lewis."
Several movie studios were behind them and Paramount Pictures the upper hand was after Louis B. Mayer of Metro a ruling one of those phrases that eventually bury you with a nice epitaph: "The organ do not see it at all OK, but what about the monkey? " Each of his films led to an even bigger hit, "My friend Irma," "I Want Marine," "Artists and Models" or "Pardners" are some of those movies. And although the films were a success and his records were sold well, where really the true star status were you could tell when they were playing live. Only Frank Sinatra had caused such collapses and scenes of hysteria. The duo died of success, but mostly had deified Lewis who was carrying the weight of the training and the real star that everyone wanted to see.
Dean used to say that the two most important moments in his life were when he teamed with Jerry Lewis and when separated from Jerry Lewis.
LIFE WITHOUT LEWIS
... And I was there at the Sands, smoking chesters one after another, with the nerves to the skin. He never before had he felt so. Always he controlled the situation, but life was teaching his ugly face. He had tried to go on stage without Lewis and had caused indifference. I was agreeing with all those boys going out to buy popcorn as Lewis disappeared from the stage and began to sing Dean. Thanks to his friendship with Jack Entratter, which owned the Sands and had already hired in New York, was in Vegas. But it was only a gesture of friendship to see a Martin low hours. But Dean Martin, he was a player and that night was not going to be in one of many, had received a call that would change history, or theirs. Ed Simmons, screenwriter low hours had convinced him to reinvent Dean. It is time, in a gray suit specially designed for him, walked onto the stage, now with more anxiety than nerves and the orchestra sounded. Behind the scenes of a voice announcing ": the Sands Hotel is proud to introduce the star of our show, directly from the bar Dean Martin Ladies and Gentlemen" was heard. Dean began pacing awkwardly around the stage with a glass of whiskey in hand, people left the glasses and cutlery and looked surprised. After half a minute he noticed people. There was a lot at him and began to greet them with gestures and winks. He blew kisses and took the first applause of an expectant public. Suddenly I saw the microphone stepped away from him and said "I'll put here, not there." Then he sentenced "how much better singing drink" and in just two sentences and a few minutes I had a devoted audience. And he sang, he began to sing as usual or better than ever, who knows, the problem is that the letters are forgotten and instead of singing the famous "dear, if I have loved you, forgive me" from his mouth came "dear, if I I married you, forgive me "to the laughter of the now respectable. Dean Martin was then the drunkard and off the stage, but apparently all improvised was the delight of the public. "I have seven wonderful children" and local applauded, "Hey, hear no applause, only it took me seven minutes" and sang. In a moment of the action while walking back tripped over the foot of micro and distractedly said "sorry, Jerry" causing the audience went crazy and will grant permission to laugh at what hurt most. Again have the command and now with the idea of becoming forever in his beloved George Raft, actor associated with the Mafia would never do anything that is not wanted. And he did. At the end of the performance he had on the table a contract to act for five years gave him the freedom to decide.
LIFE BY DEAN MARTIN
With the idea of always doing what she pleased with the strength of his way to be impenetrable secrecy and Dean made features are a way of life. What confused people was their warmth and friendliness. When all was right was the friendliest, caring and funny man you could find, but if any of his wives or some pretended friend tried to enter his comfort zone he always said "If you want to talk, you see see a cure." Therein lay his power, while others showed weaknesses or someone with as much power as Frank Sinatra was going crazy behind Ava Gardner, Dean never showed too attached to anything. In fact, while Sammy Davis or Tonny Bennet were bent to the voice of the voice, he never depended and will benefit from his long shadow. Also when Dean made him angry with their negative, it was the Sinatra himself who came running after knowing that Martin never would. He imagines going again with Dean on a local and people turning surprised to see them, "If looks chupasen cocks, and would be destroyed" say Dean, and then inevitably smiled and called again.
Dean did not need anyone, you could spend hours in their world. Western watching movies, reading comics or doing the only sport you do not need to talk to anyone: golf. His friendship with the mafia and came from his childhood. He knew who and what they were. He admired but managed to keep the distances and independence. There used to deny anything, but when the case had no problem doing. But they respected him. Unlike Sinatra always involved deeply, Dean would rather have a few drinks with the mob and go home quietly when he did not feel comfortable. You could see Dean on stage saying "why do not you go up on stage and kill someone? while greeting a lord of the place. These jokes made everyone laugh, including the noted. But because it was Dean. Lewis had to stand on knees repeatedly for a "mafiosillo" that had teased on stage to spare his life. Needless to say that those were the moments that Dean enjoyed.
Dean also had to constantly prove who he was, like many artists of his time and that was another characteristic that made him so independent. He wanted to prove he was a great singer and he did, I wanted to show that not depend on Jerry Lewis and he did and wanted to be an actor and made up of the largest and did. His big movie was "The Young Lions" and no less than confronting two of the biggest, Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift and certainly lived up to. And he had only another great challenge in the film, shooting a Western with John Wayne. From there no longer worry too much about the films he appeared. If something called the attention it did. Marylin Monroe tried that it would be his last film will feature Dean, who was one of the few people in the world who really respected her, and he agreed for it. When studies Monroe replaced by their continued absence Dean also abandon the project.
His contempt for art and culture made him famous. Phrases like "there's a guy who painted my house in two days it's better that they" when referring to the paintings exhibited in the Louvre. He mocked often the method actors and when asked by the work of an actor used to say "Acting is not, who think that the work of an actor is hard is because you have not spent a whole day standing behind a blackjack table ". In any case never conceded more than one test per scene "it is all you'll get from me," so he rolled and went home.
It's a shame that many people just relate to Dean Martin with the Rat Pack, certainly they left an indelible mark, but Dean was much more than a group of friends who wanted to have fun. With the Rat Pack did interesting things, just watch these monsters together on stage and it was worth it to see them at the bar according to hours could also give pain, but one thing is certain, Dean always true to form, he knew when it was time to leave and was the only one who could afford it. No one left standing to Sinatra. "I'm Frank, I expected a girl in the room" and although Sinatra knew that was not true, he also knew he could not hold him. At one thousand dollars Sinatra paid a girl to wait for Dean Dean in his room and gave the girl a thousand to be out and tell Sinatra who had spent the best night of his life. When it was time, no matter the place, time, attendees or commitment, Dean largaba place. In one of her birthday parties his wife rode a big party at home with a lot of guests. At one point they knocked on the door and it was the police. The neighbors had complained and had to go around the world to their homes. "What the neighbors, if they are all here?" Sinatra thought he was at the door. He immediately went to the room and furious Dean snapped him: "Did you call your police, right?" and Dean watched as a glass of milk and took watching a Western on TV saying nothing.
THE SLOW ROAD TO ETERNITY
He had had it all, he had enjoyed all had drunk all. What would life had to offer? He began his decline, his inner world became increasingly closed and small. He left the woman who gave more stability, Jeannie, and began to roll with girls who would not contributed much. Arrived late at night to add your voice to songs that you no longer transmitted anything, left the stage at Madison Square Garden when after 30 minutes did not seem that the public was to his liking, he had to sit in an act of tribute to Reagan when he was not able to sing a single note given his intoxicated and finally disappointed Sinatra when he organized a tour with him and Sammy Davis Jr to tour the entire country. Sinatra was excited and did not have the approval of Dean until shortly before the start of the tour. Those first performances were pathetic. Dean was neither wanted to be. Sinatra Dean finally replaced by Liza Minelli. The death of his son Dino Jr. who was very close, I end up off the poor Dean.
In the end, when our body is no longer here, we are just what we think and well thought out, when Dino occupies mine, do it with a big smile and a nice song.

Dean Martin on the Television Show 'Charlie's Angels' 1978
Kate Jackson, Dean Martin, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith
Charlie's Angels: Season 3, Episode 1
Angels in Vegas (13 Sep. 1978)
Tropicana Casino owner Frank Howell (a non-singing Dean Martin) calls Bosley and the Angels to Las Vegas to investigate some suspicious deaths that he believes are part of a plot to gaslight him.
By the time Dean Martin met Charlie’s Angels in 1978, he’d been a Las Vegas fixture for almost three decades. Who better to play a suave, battle-scarred casino owner on one of TV’s hottest shows? In “Angels in Vegas,” which opened the third season of Charlie’s Angels on September 13, the Angels go undercover at the Tropicana to find out why people close to Frank Howell have been dying.
Jaclyn Smith’s Kelly nails her dance audition for Folies Bergere 78. Kris, played by Cheryl Ladd, who’d replaced Farrah Fawcett-Majors as the blonde Angel, joins the act of an aging crooner portrayed by Dick Sargent (aka Darrin No. 2 from Bewitched). Kate Jackson’s Sabrina becomes Frank’s “personal executive consultant.” And Dean Martin? Looking every day of his 61 years, he barely had to act. He was Las Vegas.
Like the city, which grew from desert wasteland to martini-soaked supernova, Dino Crocetti was born in obscurity (Steubenville, Ohio) and achieved stardom through talent, charm, and hard work. After quitting high school, he put in time as a bootlegger, a blackjack dealer, a speakeasy croupier, a steelworker, and a (not-so-successful) boxer. But Dino wanted the bright lights and kept on swinging for the stars. As a star himself—of movies, music, television, and nightclubs—he headlined five Vegas casinos, starting in 1949, when he and Jerry Lewis topped the Flamingo marquee.
Martin went on to work solo and, of course, with the Rat Pack. At the Sands, he’d sometimes deal blackjack on the casino floor after his show. When he headlined the Riviera, he had a private bar called Dino’s Den. At the MGM Grand (later the Bally Grand), he performed live and also hosted TV’s Dean Martin Celebrity Roast from 1974 to ’84. So when the Angels came to town, he was beyond ready.
As Frank takes over the croupier’s rake at an unruly craps game, Martin is replaying his own story. And when the casino boss invites a smitten Sabrina upstairs for a late dinner, Martin doesn’t have to turn on the charm. Because he’d never turned it off.

Hey pallies, likes many many of today's finest flicks continue to most wondrously 'n wisely use Dino-croons to set the tone of the big screen action. Case in point, our pallies at google 'lerts recently sent us to a blog tagged "The Man of Words," where U.K. freelance writer and journalist Mr. Alasdiar Stuart hangs his hat. Mr. Stuart has a regular stunnin' Sunday feature, "Sunday Moment of Zen" which most appropriately accented our Dino, as our Dino has been tagged "Zen Master" on more then one occasion here at ilovedinomartin. (see HERE and HERE)
Well, Alasdiar post, "Sunday Moment of Zen: Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol and the Dean Martin Prison Break" obviously gots our Dino-attention! Now as we continue to scribe here you will discover that we ain't big ofn seein' most modern flicks as we hardly gets time to view our collection of our Dino's big screen efforts. Anywho we learned from Stuart's scribin's that the classic of classic Dino-croon, "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" is featured in the openin' minutes of the 2011 Tom Cruise hit, "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol."
Indeed at 2:37 in the vid clip below the strains of "Kick" are streamed into a Russian prison signalin' the beginnin' of the break....and thus "the Dean Martin Prison Break!" Now likes how amazin'ly awesome is that dudes?!?!?!?! Likes how many fans of the Mission Impossible flicks gots turned on to our King of Cool through the placement of this amazin' Dino-tune in this successful big screen effort?!?!?!?!?!
We thanks Mr. Alasdair Stuart for puttin' us on to this huge huge homage of our Dino in "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol." To checks this out in it's original postin' simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-gram. Dino-awed, DMP btw, we were able to find a pix of the al-b-um used in the flick!
Sunday Moment of Zen: Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol and the Dean Martin Prison Break
Just a short one this week. I am inordinately fond of the Mission: Impossible movies, especially 3. I’m delighted to see Rogue Nation, the new one, seems to be maintaining the increasingly mischievous bent of the series too. This sequence, from the opening of Ghost Protocol, is probably the best example of that. Silent comedy, close quarters punching, Simon Pegg being magnificent and, of course, Dean Martin in a Russian prison. Oh and a beautiful, offhand justification for the fuse motif. Glorious stuff and your Sunday Moment of Zen.
Hey pallies, likes our pallies at google 'lerts continue to provide us with likes just a ton of Dino-'lerts that are providin' so so much of delightful devotion to our Dino from all corners of the entire Dino-universe!
A recent 'lert sent our way went to the Aussie blog "ten play" where a vid from the down under version of "Family Feud" was posted. Well, likes no matter what we did we weren't able to get it to show....so bein' persistent we simply used the info on the link "yosina-on-flirting-with-dean-martin" and took ourselves to youtube hopin' that the Dino-action was posted there.
And, likes magic, we did indeed find the vid that has been posted below of a lady named Yosina who tells here true life story in 1964 of bein' in London with her husband and havin' a cabbie take them to a posh Chinese Restaurant. Likes low and behold who was also at said eatery but Miss Shirley MacLaine, our Dino, and as she tags him..".the little fella"....Mr. Sammy Davis Jr. Well, Miss Yosina kept tookin' at our most beloved Dino (who wouldn't?!?!?!?!).... and likes couldn't keep her eyes off of him...and when our Dino looked back, he gave her a little wink!
Likes it warms our Dino-hearts to hear this lady after over 50 years rememberin' and retellin' her own personal Dino-encounter...always always so so refreshin' to share how pallies have had life transformin' experiences when they find themselves in the immediate presence of our King of Cool!
Nothin' and we mean nothin' couldn't be more amazin' then that! We thanks Miss Yosina for tellin her Dino-tale and for the pallies at the Down Under version of Family Feud puttin' it on Youtube for the Dino-delight of Dino-holics everywhere! Clicks on the tag of this Dino-post to find the spot we were first directed to. Always, Dino, Always, DMP

Tonight I'm full of emptiness and old-time memories
So I need somethin' special that'll chase the blues away
And help me to forget about the dreams of yesterday
Just bring me one, one cup of happiness and one peace of mind
I'll take the biggest slice of life that you can find
I think that's all I'm gonna need to leave the blues behind
One cup of happiness and one peace of mind
Say, Waiter, I just thought of somethin' that I've never tried
I'd like to have a little bit of heaven on my side
You know it may sound funny, but when I was passin' by
The sign up in your window is the thing that caught my eye
I don't recall exactly, but I do believe it said
We guarantee to satisfy, so you go right ahead
And bring me one cup of happiness and one peace of mind
I'll take the biggest slice of life that you can find
I think that's all I'm gonna need to leave the blues behind
One cup of happiness and one peace of mind
I hope that's all I'm gonna need to leave the blues behind
One cup of happiness and one, one peace of mind
