Hey pallies, "Two things accentuate the glow this time of year. Memories, and giving." So saith our brillant Dino-phile Ed yesterday as he began his delightful Ed's Epistle Dino-review of "It Won't Cool Off."

Truly no-one gives us more and cooler memories then our Dino....and likes who is more givin' then our great man....givin' pleasure beyond Dino-measure every single moment of every single Dino-day.

So, on this 1lth day of Dino-winter-month I am so delighted to share a Dino-post with ya pallies that totally accents memories of our Dino and his gracious givin' to his pallies. The post comes from a great blogg tagged "Taylor Stitch...a life style blog" and speaks such Dino-truth that our Dino is "a real man of style."

Dean Martin had both style and grace, not to mention a rather quick wit. This is an incredible video montage of him, put together to his famed song, Sway. It also features some clips of performances with Frank Sinatra. The beauty I find in this is the interaction with the crowd and how the performers of this era were not only great singers but had a stage presence and conversational piece to them that you don’t see as much today. True gentlemen and showmen at the same time.

Ed's Epistle....."It Won't Cool Off" Song Review

Two things accentuate the glow this time of year. Memories, and giving. The flicker in my holiday candle and warmth of its flame accompany me as I surround myself in the Dino-sounds of the season. Snowflakes and Dino-sounds, come in all shapes and sizes. Tonight's Dino-dejure is the fine Dino-gem of a lick, "It Won't Cool Off".

Recorded in the evening of August 4th, 1959 in the Capital Towers, Hollywood California. Interestingly enough, this Capital recording was written by Sammy Cahn and Dino's long time pianist, Ken Lane. Produced by Lee Gillette and conducted by Gus Levene, this track was release on the "Winter Romance" LP back on November 16th, 1959.

It's safe to say the ole Dino owns this tune. Not many other renditions to compare this goody to. Dino vocals are what the horns and brass are strung about. The recipe here is simple. Dino croonin' 'bout kindling flames and burnin' and yearnins! Love lit furnaces goin' and glowin pallies! The warmth of Dino on the warm August night is transported ahead almost forty years into the future, at the speed of light perhaps, to instantly warm tonights chilly temps!

"Burnin', burnin'". I have to admit pally, those two words, in all the Dino lyrics ever breathed by the man, I have atop my Dino-fave-lycs. So powerful, so smooth. Highlight real of solid Dino tunes, one topic for another day I'm sure!

So in the spirit of the season, let me give you, the Dino-phile, the gift of Dino via "It Won't Cool Off".


Preferred listening suggestion:
Like any fine Dino-tune, this slice of snow-pie is best enjoyed shared, with the gal or pal of your pleasure. Tonight it's an eggnog with a finer spiced rum. Might I suggest the finest of spiced rums, Sailor Jerry Rum. This soft cut of Dino is best enhanced by low light, perhaps a candle or three. Fireplace or furnace pally, as long as it's burning. And as usual, if the one you desire, love, or pine for isn't near, that's fine too. Dino will fill in the gaps, he'll fill in for them.

Ed's Epistle.....That's Amore, Dean Martin & Friends Review! Part III

I've seen my fair share of Dino/Rat Pack impersonator shows in my life, and what they all have in common is the weak link. The essence of Dino is the most difficult, it seems, to capture and re-distribute to the masses. Like Elvis impersonators, Sinatra seems to have a large market for them. Sammy is a difficult act to follow, however most seem to focus on his singing. Sammy was more than a singer.

Dino is a difficult act to mimic on account that he's a personality. He's a singer, a comic, a dancer. It's his unique sounds and gestures that seem so natural that make it difficult to copy. I have yet to see any Dino impersonator to hit Dino straight on. From a sound aspect, many impersonators nail Sinatra head on. Same with Sammy.
It's difficult to do Dino vocally, even tougher to mimic his style and tendencies.

Mark Adams, vocally talented, even more so a acting, is about as close to Dino, I think, that we will see in our lifetime. Lyrically, Mr. Adams is stronger than your average impersonator. He's got a tremendous voice on his own, and he doesn't need to mimic anyone cause he's got his own gig if needed. His voice for Dino-tunes is an acquired one. For the most part it grows on you, and by the end of the show he has you sold as Dino. However there are a few tunes that he absolutely nails. Dino tunes, to be honest, this Dino-phile really didn't think anyone else could pull off. What a treat for those! That said, the tunes that sound so Dino are the tunes that remind you that he's slightly not so Dino on the others. Which is a shame how that works out, cause Mr. Adams is head and shoulders above all the rest. But at the end of the night, he's simply audio nectar.

His dark hair and good looks gets him by if a pally squints. Dino looks are hard to come by.
What ultimately sets Mr. Adams apart from the others, is his ability to nail Dino mannerisms and Dino-patter. If you're left awestruck from his singing, you'll be mesmerized by his Dino-antics! The hands, the voice inflections, comic timing, and just plain old impersonations are spot on. I haven't witness this Dino-cloning in my lifetime, and I'm sure I won't be seeing it again anytime soon! This was the cherry on top-o-thee-pie for me. I was ready for music and song, dancing girls and Dino! But man, the impressions were a true genuine blast from the past voyage in time.

The only thing I would change, or add to the show, would have to be the background. How great it would have been to see the familiar Dino-Den in the background. With the calf skin couch, the firepole, and all that other good mother jazz!

I strongly suggest that, if you can, check out this show. It's a "Don't Miss!!" Tell your friends, or relatives, or folks you know. If this show comes to your town, please do yourself a Dino-Favor and checks it out!!!

Ed's Epistle.....That's Amore, Dean Martin & Friends Review! Part II

Mark Adams portrays Dean Martin in a 2 hour program which loosely follows the “Dean Martin Show” variety format. With him, set to the star lit black canvas backdrop and spotlights reaching from floor to ceiling, is a five piece band which consists of, from left to right, piano, guitar, stand up bass, drums, and keyboards. For visual and background vocal accompaniment, we have three beautiful gals filling the roles of Dean’s Girls, the Golddiggers. Providing the evenings entertainment on the Dean Martin Show tonight is Nat King Cole, Patrula Clark, and Shirley McLaine.

The guests all perform their songs of choice. Most notably outside of the Dino performance is Nat King Cole. His performance was outstanding. “Route 66”, “Mona Lisa”, duets with Dino, “Open Up The Dog House” and “Long Long Ago” really was an unexpected Dino treat.

Tux's and drinks adorn the stage. The only missing prop is the amber glow of a Dino cigarette. The Golddiggers are worth price of admission on their looks alone! The script was a montage of Dino TV shows and live singing performances. Dino-isms through out the night kept the crowd loose and laughing. Jeanne and sex jokes only the way Dino could deliver them.

The next two hours were pure pleasure. Following is the song list of the evening. It was a great cross slice of Dino-licks.

Today's Dino-winter-month post features Mr. Aarik Danielsen from the Columbia Missouri's Columbia Daily Tribune (clicks on tagg of this Dino-post to goes there).

Reviewer Aarik taggs his post "Sing It, Santa" with the subtagg of "From Dino's Magic To 'Jingle Bombs." That subtagg let's you know how much Mr. Danielsen admires and respects our Dino's abilty to sing winter...totally, totally Dino-magical!

The beautiful notion of “Peace on Earth, good will toward men” doesn’t always apply to the age-old debate over how early is truly too early to play Christmas music. With Thanksgiving behind us, even the biggest skeptics and Scrooges among us can agree it’s time to turn our stereos and iPods into vessels for Christmas cheer. With holiday albums in existence by almost anyone who’s ever had a record contract, it can be hard to know what sounds to choose as you wind your way through the most wonderful time of the year. Here are but a few humble suggestions of albums to embrace, avoid and wrap up for your next white elephant office party.

Dean Martin: “Christmas with Dino” (2006): Any seasonal soundtrack is incomplete without the heartwarming holiday stylings of beloved crooners like Crosby, Torme and Como. Sinatra might be Chairman of the Board, but for my money, Martin is the count of many Christmases past, present and future. In the course of these 17 tracks, his downy voice glides over lush beds of orchestral strings and bouncy musical backdrops.

Martin is at his yuletide best when drawing all the romance out of songs such as “Let It Snow” and “White Christmas.” “I’ve Got My Love to Keep Me Warm” has a carefree jazz feel, and Martin delivers it as a man with a spring in his step, a wink and knowing smile behind every word: “What do I care how much it may storm? Oh, how the Grand Lady was lit up tonight! The Rialto Square Theater. The “Jewel Of Joliet” as proud as ever. Trees adorning the holiday festive glow of electric lights, men in long coats and ladies in their finest evening attire. The chilled night air captures the breath in smoke form, reminding pallies ti’s the season! Downtown Joliet, similar to downtowns across the country, struggles to keep up with father time. Stuck in the day of small shop window fronts and one way streets, Joliet has done it’s best to keep the charm of yesteryear while attracting the common folk spend an evening for some good ole-fashion live entertainment. Emerging from no specific street downtown, this pally is welcomed, like a beacon in the night, the glowing vertical “Rialto” glow. The night is on! Warm memories, a Cool Dino, and sizzling hot Golddiggers will soon be warming the hearts and souls of the Dino-philes tonight!

The lobby is one from movies and memories. Warm yellow glow further softening the delicate ornate architecture of this 1926 theater, once dubbed the best in the country. Ceilings higher than grandpa’s slacks, ole Dino could hit a 9-iron and not hit it.

The lobby fills up quickly from 7pm till show time. Line for the bar reaches all the way back to Steubenville Ohio it seems. Ah, but yours truly got his vodka and tonic first thing! The early bird gets the worm, sort to speak. I take in the crowdage. Dino fans all ages. Nice to see the youngin’s showing up at such an event on a Saturday night, a tribute that our Dino crosses ages and demographics. My guess-tamite of tonight’s attendance between 700 to 1000 folks. Dino is alive, and as popular as ever. Life is good.

Ladies and gentlemen, direct from the bar, Dean Martin!

Oh how many times this pally has heard those familiar words over the hiss of a CD, or during a fuzzy black and white DVD re-production of a Dino event. Always followed the roar of the crowd and the musical rendition of “Everybody Loves Somebody” blaring from the band stand. What will Dino do tonight? A fake trip? A slide of feet? What will the master entertainer of cool do to bring a smile to crowd, and to remind them that he’s the most laid back pally in the joint?

Dino saunters onto stage from far left. As the sun emerging from the clouds, the bright spotlight follows each smooth stride to center stage. Dino’s always good for a big “OH, OOH!” Couple pats of his tux collar, a tug at his bow-tie, and a pull at this sleeve, and like a magician, Dino is ready to perform his magic.

Fellow Dino-zens. Today is a special day for yours truly. Today I will make the trek south to the suburban Chicago town of Joliet Illilois to catch the show of the fabulous Dino-impersonator Mark Adams. The ghosts of entertainers past are in for a special treat. This area drips with Rat Pack lore and Dino legend. It's one of "those" places you read about in obscure tales of mobsters, singers, and dames. Chicago was the hot spot, but the 'burbs' were the hiding places. Tonight's performance will be one to stir the breezes of warmer memories. And warm breezes are just what the Dino-Dr. ordered on this frigid cold Chicago day.









Mark Adams, first introduced to us via the ilovedinomartin blog back in September, will be performing in the magnificent Rialto Square Theater (http://www.rialtosquare.com/shows/thats-amore.htm). We will be following up tonight's performance with our very own ilovedinomartin blog show review. I'll be observing, note taking, elbow rubbing, picture taking, eaves dropping, and bathing in all things Dino tonight.

Hey pallies, on this fourth day of Dino-winter-month here at ilovedinomartin we move from the "takin'" mood of the last two days (as we reflected on the Jeanne's current lawsuit 'gainst the Dean Martin Family Trust exec) to puttin' the accent on spreadin' some seasonal Dino-cheer by doin' what our Dino always does...givin' so freely of himself to his beloved pallies.

Blind man would love a Dean Martin CD, and hopes Operation Holiday can help

Caroline (Case E-10) adopted twins John and Jackie, 5, after her sister passed away last year. The children brighten this single mom's life, but meeting their needs on a one income has been a challenge. John is energetic and full of life,
and his sister has been diagnosed with special needs, which require even more of Caroline's attention. Her mother, Ethel, has moved in with the family to help tend to the children, but she has health concerns of her own.


Caroline is working as much as she can as a receptionist to cover the family's bills, but that doesn't leave much for Christmas gifts for the children. That's why she has asked Operation Holiday for help.


Now in its 38th year, Operation Holiday is a partnership between the Woman's Club of Morristown and the Daily Record.


In conjunction with more than 20 social service agencies, Operation Holiday, with help from our readers, works to brighten the holidays of Morris County's needy by providing necessary items they cannot afford and by granting some of their very special wishes. The program helps a variety of Morris County residents, including individuals with disabilities or mental illnesses, those left jobless or homeless, or those just barely making ends meet. Many find themselves all alone at this time of year. Each day until Christmas, we will share with you the stories of those helped by Operation Holiday.


Last year our readers' generous donations allowed us to help more than 600 individuals and families in Morris County, and this year we hope to help even more. But we can't do it without you.


John needs long-sleeve shirts and sweatpants in size 4T and could use warm sweaters and pajamas in size 5T. He loves playing with toy cars. Jackie could use sweatpants in size 5T and long-sleeve tops and sweaters in size 6. She loves
anything princess. Ethel could use a set of warm pajamas in size 3X and elastic waist pants in size 26/28. Caroline would appreciate her own pair of warm pajamas and a sweater in size 2X and jeans in size 24.


Bobbi (Case H-3) has endured many struggles over her 17 years. After being removed from her home due to physical and emotional abuse, she was also removed from several foster placements because of abuse and neglect. She has worked hard to overcome depression and anxiety and is now doing well in school and participating in extracurricular activities. She would appreciate receiving a hair straightener and a gift card to Target. Her special wish is for a digital camera to take photos with her friends.


Jack (Case K-41) is 85 and currently living in a nursing home. Though he can no longer see, he does all he can to maintain his independence and enjoys spending times with his friends. Unfortunately, he cannot afford new clothes, and would love to receive some. He could use flannel shirts and sweatpants in size large. He loves the music of Dean Martin and would very much enjoy one of his CDs.

Ed's Epistle.....Jeanne vs. Laura...Pot vs. Kettle

Coincidence: a striking occurrence of two or more events at one time apparently by mere chance. The announcement of Dino Family Trust, Universal Music, and The Bradford Exchange, and Jeanne Martin’s lawsuit against DMFT Executor Laura Lizer, is no coincidence pallies. Allow me to preface this rumination by saying that neither I nor anyone else knows the entire story regarding Jeanne’s financial situation, or the hidden fngers, if there are any hidden fingers, behind Jeanne Martin’s motives.

The consciousness of one Jeanne Martin was woken last week by the jingling of keys and the opening of the Dino-treasure chest of gold. The previous six years weren’t profitable enough for Jeanne Martin to peak out from the comfy solitary lifestyle that Dino has afforded for her. Nothing in the past monetary six years has been worthy enough for the ex-Mrs. King of Cool to voice concern.

Jeanne Martin believes the one time actress, current Executor of the DMFT, Laura Lizer has been stuffing her pockets with Jeanne’s money. Allow me to add a heaping tablespoon of reality. What she’s really saying is that Laura is stuffing her pockets with Dino-money, Dino-money in which Jeanne is an expert spender of. Evidently this sort of skimming has been occurring since the passing of the Dino’s prior manager Mort Viner some six years ago.

A pally might ask why this is all of a sudden an issue? I’ll tell you why my fellow Dino-zen. The past six years the fountain of Dino-money has been but a trickle, a drop in the Dino-bucket of cash-olla. The lack of Dino-treasure marketing allowed vast quantities of Dino-goods to sit dormant, non-profitable, locked up. One assumes that that sort of minimal Dino-cash trickle didn’t interest Jeanne. The promise of a new Dino-cash in a Dino-renaissance via the new Trust contract has awaken the mouse’s blondes ambition to be part of the Dino-legacy. This Dino-cash flow will no longer resemble a kitchen faucet, as much as a raging river. The Dino-vine has produced the biggest, juiciest grape yet, and the usual picker is lined up for their share of the juice.

Don't get me wrong. I’m all for those receiving their millions via wills, contracts, royalty payments, and divorce settlements. However when a certain party appears to pick and choose when to “speak up”, it's easy to feel that the only motive is for the Benjamins. If I may, can I suggest a more traditional method of making a buck? Please, Mrs. Jeanne Martin, please sit down with an author for a week and put memories to paper for the rest of world to know what it was like to be the woman behind the man. Or perhaps, if you haven't already, fire-up a tape recorder and put voice to tape. Consider it a thank you from you to Dino for the good times. We're not looking for a tell all personal diary, just your reflection of Dino as a tribute to the Dino-memory that deserves to be carried on. You may be surprised the attention it would garner. After all, it's the countless little rivers that feed into the big raging river. The Dino fans are the little rivers that feed into this raging river, and this Dino-river doesn't deserve to be damned.

Dean Martin's Ex Sues Trustee for Royalties

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Since Dean Martin's talent agent died in 2003, the trustee of the Martin Family Trust pocketed $130,000 in agency commissions, though she never acted as Martin's agent, Martin's ex-wife claims in Superior Court.

Jeanne Martin says she and Martin divorced in 1973, after 24 years of marriage.

She says their divorce settlement granted her half of the royalties from records the famous crooner made before their divorce.

The singer agreed that his talent agency, International Creative Management, could take its 10 percent commission before giving Jeanne half of his royalties, according to the complaint.

After Dean Martin died in 1995, his agent, Mort Viner, and defendant Laura Lizer became co-trustees of the Dean Martin Family Trust, which consisted of Dean Martin's half of his royalty payments, the complaint states.

Jeanne Martin says she is a trust beneficiary, in addition to being entitled to half of the royalties.

Viner rightfully continued to deduct his agency fees until his death in 2003, according to the complaint. After that, Jeanne Martin says, Lizer became the sole trustee.

She says Viner's death ended the trust's obligation to pay agency fees, but Lizer continued to take 10 percent off the top of the royalties.

She sued Lizer, demanding the money back, an accounting and damages.

She is represented by Todd Bonder with Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman of Beverly Hills.

Hey pallies, first wanna thanks our great pallie Ed for gettin' us off to such a snazzy Dino-winter-month start with his amazin' Dino-prose on our Dino's winter tunin' of "It's A Marshmallow World."

Indeed 'tis the season for givin' and Mr. Ed has given us a marvelous gift of a start to all the Dino-festivities of this month of honorin' and rememberin' our Dino as we approach the date of his leavin' the planet.

So, it is with a heavy heart, that I breaks into all this special winter Dino-devotion to share the followin' breakin' Dino-news with all you Dino-devotees.

In this Dino-season of givin'....and certainly our Dino is such a stellar example of givin' to all of us...gotta report that Dino-wife numero duo, the Jeanne, is in the mood for takin'.

As you will read in the Dino-report below, the Jeanne has started a law suit against the Dean Martin Family Trust exec, Miss Laura Lizer, claimin' that Miss Lizer has not shared 'nough of the Dinotreasure with the former Mrs. Martin.

Time will tell how this Dino-suit plays out....but how sad to had to report 'bout the Jeanne boldness is takin' in the midst of what is known as a season of givin'.

DINO's RAT PACK RAT

Dean Martin was once the king of Vegas' Rat Pack but not to his ex- wife.

According to a new lawsuit, the late Dino's ex-wife wants a piece of his royalty pie and she's suing to get her slice.

Jeanne Martin who Dean divorced more than 30 years ago filed papers in La County Superior Court that's Martin's estate is stiffing her on her share of the music star's royalities.

In the suit Jeanne claims that one of the co-executors of Dean's state Laura Lizer has been double-dipping into her share.

The suit alleges that Lizer pocketed at least $130,000 from Dean's exorbitant music royalties since 2003 and Jeanne wants her to pony up.

Ed's Epistle...It's A Marshmallow Song Review!!

It’s a "Marshmallow World" in the winter! The official voice of the season is a familiar one pallies. Breezes of Dino stirring the chilly holiday air has become an encouraging trend in our Dino-verse. Dino doin’ carols, fires doin’ chestnuts, snowflakes doin’ noses, it’s all one big collective snowball of yule tide!

Marshmallow clouds being friendly? Sun is red like a pumpkin head? Spring the tree, throw the lights, Dino has proclaimed the OH-ficial start of the season! The nog-of-egg filleth my cup as the voice-of-Dino filleth my spirits! Visions of sugar plums, and echoes of Dino dance in your head. As self-proclaimed Mayor of Dino-ville, I declare, officially, that Dino is The Voice of the Season!

Scoot over Der-Bingle, Dino’s oldie but a goodie “Marshmallow World” is the “White Christmas” of the 21st century! Very similar to the late blooming “Ain’t That a Kick in The Head”, “Marshmallow World” is experiencing a late growth spurt. Wasn’t long ago where if you didn’t own the LP, you didn’t hear this gem. And that’s a shame! The now familiar tune, recorded June 30th 1966 for Reprise Records, and released on the Dean Martin Christmas Album on October 11, 1966, wasn’t re-released into present day media until after 1998.

Lyrically "MW" is a masterpiece. Metaphors' paintings on cerebral canvases of celebratory holiday festivities. Marshmallows, whipped cream, pumpkins, snowballs, yum-ymmy's, sweet hearts and sugar dates. Dino is the rum in in this eggnog. The perfect elixir for your holiday frolicking. "Take a walk with your favorite girl". Wink wink pally.

December 21, 1967. The Dean Martin Show. Woo woo! Dino's having a blast. Ole Blue Eyes quips a ‘punkin head’. Dino-Cool and The Voice radiating audio warmth to the masses. Tuxes, and cigarettes singing snowballs and sugar dates. Crazy-daddy! Pick your pleasure, LP version of "MW", Dino 'n Frank version , or the Bob Hope special version. Like art, you can't explain it, but you know it when you see it. Pure Dino.

The Dean Martin Show

December 15, 1974, The Bob Hope Show. The King Of Cool eases into his green throne to endorse this holiday seasons version of "MW". It's a good one too. Dino in rare Christmas-Cool form. The tree adorned, the fireplace aglow, and Dino broadcasting to his Dino-zens the "State of the Season" address. Dino nails this version. The amber glow of his smoke, the casual step in his stroll. The next two minutes and thirty five seconds, all is good in the world. Your worries and woes are scramsville. Dino once again has pronounced the season full of sweethearts and snowballs. We are reminded what the season is all about.

Anywhere, anytime. Adorning the tree, or driving in your car. It's an audio candy cane pally. Ideally, for yours truly, this cut is perfect for a cozy winters night with that someone special. Dino-speakin' With Maria

Hey pallies, likes over the course of a few weeks this summer, I conducted a Dinointerview with our youthful Dinolovin' pallie from Norway..... Maria. Decided to postpone havin' the interview posted until 'round Maria's big 18th birthday on November 29. So, today we are postin' Maria's tale of Dinodevotion, 'cause tomorrow our pallie Ed...y'all knows Ed...of Ed's Epistle is goin' to do a very special Dino post in honor of Miss Maria's date of birth...so stay tuned pallies to checks it out on the morrow.

Maria spoke quite candidly 'bout our Dino and her admiration for our King of Cool, so I hopes that y'all will take the time to read Maria's Dinoreflections. DMP: To begin with Miss Maria, would you tell us a bit 'bout yourself.

M: Well, I am 17 years old soon 18. I am going 3 year in secondary school and specifying in computers. I live in Norway, but I was born in Russia, have a lot of blending in my family. I have Italian, Greek and Russian roots. I play professional soccer and I have keeper position.

DMP: I'm wonderin' if you remember the first time that you ever heard....you ever saw our Dino?

Oh, I think I was around 5-6 years old. Back then I loved Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, and once I heard my mother listening to Dean Martin and I just started singing along, even thou I didn’t know the words. I asked my mother once, what was the name of this song and she told me it was “When You’re Smiling”

First time I saw Dino, was when I was around 11 I think, I saw “Some Came Running” with Dino, Frank and Shirley.


DMP: How were you introduced to our Dino and how long did it take you before you fell head-over-heels for our great man?

M: Well, I was raised in this old fashion, loud half Italian family. And my uncle always told us kids, and specially boys that when they grow up, if they are smart and got talent they may become at least 5 % of what great Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra where. And, so whole my life I heard just good things about Dino and after a while I started to get interested and found a lots of films on TV with him. And it didn’t take me long time to fall in love and dream that one day I will meet someone like him. The dream is steel there and I have fallen in love with him even more : )



DMP: Since you are of a younger age, but so advanced in your Dinodevotion, I wonder what your parents think of your deep deep Dinopassion...do they understand and support your amazin' Dinodevotion?

M: Well, everyone from my Italian side of the family, yes. But the other part of the family is kind of worried that I spend so much time to know Dean, as they say: You have to be more interested in what’s cool now days and not about things that happened 50 years ago. But this “side” of the family is from Russia and they didn’t have opportunity to grow up with Dean, course of old regime you know… So they don’t know that much about Dean and Rat Pack etc. But I don’t think about what they say too much, I am kind of in that age where I know everything better that anyone else : P

DMP: Wonderin' when youngens your age discover your love of our Dino, what do they say?.....what do they think? Have you been able to win any of your peers to becomin' Dinocrazed?

M: Well all of my friends really don’t like “old” music and kind of mock me because of my love to Dean. They just think that it is creepy that I am some much in love with some old, dead and not at all handsome guy.. But that’s their choice and I am not trying to make them like him or listen to him if they don’t like it.. But I have a lot of older friends who love his voice and even ask me whether they could borrow my cd’s and stuff like that : ) And that’s something you know J



DMP: One of my fav questions to always ask pallies is based on one of my fav Dinosongs "Welcome To My World." What does it mean to you to be welcomed into our Dino's world and how has that impacted your life?

M: Even though Dean isn’t alive any more.. Just being able to look back in the history and look how one of the greatest entertainer, personalities lived and worked, makes me feel kind of privileged.. The song title itself is just typical Dean.. Course all his life this was really just HIS world, and everybody where just living in it.. This may make someone think that I am just crazy or something, but Dean has really helped me thru most difficult situations in my life.. He has shaped me as a persona and even made me a better person.. And if a person who is no longer with us, but can still have power to shape a person’s life and make us feel better where ever we need it.. Well, I will bow too this person… And that’s one of the reasons why he really was The King Of Cool..

DMP: Yes, it is amazin' how much influence our Dino can and does have over the lives of those who wanna live in his world. If it is not too personal, woulda you mind tellin' us a story or two of times when our Dino has helped you....guided you in the right path to follow?

M: Well, you see my parents decided to get a divorce almost a year ago.. And, well I wasn’t too thrilled about it (to put it mildly) And well, after that I just had trouble sharing my problems with my friends or anybody else.. But then I tough, instead of being angry and going around punching stuff wasn’t a good solution.. So every time I felt blue, angry etc. I just went up to my room, turned speakers as loud as possible and just listened to Dean for hours and hours… And all anger and sadness just went away, and I felt like I wasn’t in my room anymore, but just on a soccer field (it sounds stupid, but that’s really the only place where I feel relaxed) alone, playing a little and listening to Dean… And just like that, everything was just fine and cool… Nothing too worry about, no troubles, just me and Deans voice…

DMP: I know you have read many of the bios written 'bout our Dino....woulda you mind lettin' all us pallies know which ones you have read and what your Dino-opinion is of each?

M: Me and Dean: A love story. Very good and open book, where Jerry really opens up about what really went on when Martin and Lewis where a team. Second one is Dino, Living High In The Business Of Dreams. Here I wound out lots of new stuff about Dean. Good book, that I think tells a lot about his strength, weaknesses and his life. And Martini Man. Good book, but I can’t say anything else about it.



DMP: If some asks you....Why Dean Martin?.....meanin' why so devoted to Dino?...likes what woulda you say?

M: Well, I think the first time I heard his voice I just fell in love in that deep, baritone voice. Then I discovered Martin and Lewis, than his films and not that long ago Dean Martin Show. And I just feel that I have learned so much from him and after all I think that he is the sexiest man that has ever lived :D

Everything he did would be perfect, and the best of all is that he never forgot who got him there, he never forgot himself and never changed just because he was King Of Cool.

And this will sound stupid, but when I grew up I never had a stabile father figure around me but the things Dean did and the way he was gave me an example of what my own father would teach me in life. So there are thousands of reasons why I love him so much. Well there is nothing not to like about him, he was kind, real family person, down to earth, sweet, sexy as hell, talented in almost everything (he could dance, sing, act, be a comedian etc.) So to me he has always been an idol, role model and he gave me an idea for what a real man should be like.

And every time I feel down or I have some problems in live I just think what Dean would do and try to do the same thing and it worked every time!

DMP: I am intrigued by your statement "Everything he did would be perfect, and the best of all is that he never forgot who got him there, he never forgot himself and never changed just because he was King Of Cool."

Would you elaborate more on these cool Dinothoughts.....'specially this thought... "he never forgot who got him there, he never forgot himself ." Woulda loves to hear more 'bout your thoughts and feelin' on this......

M: Well he grew up in, well not poor family but not rich and then he dropped school and worked a lot and really worked for his fame. Then he met Jerry and they got rich, famous and had everything a man would need or want. But he still took care of his parents, he was the same dedicated father and he didn’t go all snobby. He always said that he is proud of being Italian and every person in the entertainment world said that he was easy, relaxed and always fun to work with and that he was the same person on stage as he was off stage. Just look at today’s movie “starts” they have everything and they forget who they were before all this fame. Dean always was King of Cool, and that’s because he was born like that. I think people like that are born once in a 100 years. So no matter how famous he was, he was always down to earth person and never changed.

After he and Jerry got really famous he took care of his parents till the end, the agent with whom he lived before Martin and Lewis (he “lived” in his office because he couldn’t afforded to rent a place for him self), Dean paid back every cent and stayed with him as long as it was possible.

DMP: So, tell me, why do you think that it is our Dino who got to be so blessed to be one of those "people like that are born once in a 100 years?"

M: Well, I think after the war, with all the problems USA needed that laughter. Martin and Lewis gave them that light, something good in the middle of chaos. And Jerry would never become as huge without Dean. And even now I believe that there are people who are feeling down, tuning on Dean and feeling better. I guess he will bring laughter for many many years. And unfortunately I think it will take long time before we see another genius like him... If we ever will…

DMP: Pallie, you said, "but the things Dean did and the way he was gave me an example of what my own father would teach me in life..." So our Dino has been a huge father figure in your life....would you elaborate on some of the essential teachin's of our Dino that you have related to your life?

M: Well, it’s really just the simple things in life.. Being kind, being strong and sticking up for what you mean and want, being proud of your heritage.. And the most important was, never care if people are talking about you, if people don’t like you.. Just living your own life, for yourself, your family and your closest friends. And if u get famous, never forget people who helped you on the way up.. After all you will meet them on your way down!

So just like Dean said: "They can’t hurt your feelings if you never have any."

Ed's Epistle......Hello Dino-zens!

Welcome to Ed’s Epistle! Ramblin’s and Ruminations of a Disciple of Dino.
I am, as the title suggests, a Disciple a Dino. Steeped in the aura of one Dean Martin since before I can remember. Like a prince born into a bloodline. I neither picked nor chose to be a Dino Disciple. Dino to me has been the air I breathed and the sound I hear since my day of birth. I don’t question the sky of blue, and I don’t question the Dino. I behold the title and the inheritance with a badge of honor.
In my Ramblin’s and Ruminations, I share my personal experiences, opinions, and joy that I have with our man Dino. I have been to the beginning in Steubenville, and I’ve been to the end in a little cemetery in Westwood California. I’ve been to one of Dinos first haunts in The Spot bar, and I’ve been to his last haunt in Davincis restaurant in Beverly Hills.
I’ve read just about every book and have heard just about every song relating to Dino. I plan on hitting all Dino cylinders in my Ramblin’s. Song reviews, web site reviews, comparing and contrasting Dino and his contemporaries, book comments and reviews, and many other Dino facts and tidbits.
I am not a Dino expert, I’m just a guy expressing my Dino interest and energy in this beautiful little corner of the world we know as ilovedinomartin blog.
What makes us different than other blogs? Well, I believe we’re going to take Dino to the next level. Mr. DMP and myself are out-of-the-box thinkers. We plan on taking everything Dino has done and place each and every bit under the Dino-microscope. Some events never before have been under such Rabmliln’s and Ruminations spotlights. We believe even the most obscure Dino-bit deserves the attention the most popular Dino bit receives.
How are we going to do this? Just like anything else, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right. We have a deep library of Dino facts and figures. We research and discover new Dino information daily. Dino-data and Dino-energy mixed up and stirred with the blog, add some Dino fans such as yourself, and bingo!
We have a great interest and devotion to bringing Dino to you. Striving to be the best dam Dino Blog on the net!
How we planning on accomplishing that?

Time? When Dino roamed and owned the earth.

True Story.
It was Dino that quickly pointed out that America was discovered by a fellow Italian, Amerigo Vespucci. In turn, it was America who discovered Martin, Sinatra, Como, Martino, Bennett, Vale, Laine, Darin, Damone, and Prima. All Italian-American singers who forever changed the American music landscape. Imagine a world without Dean Martin. Elvis has no direction. Sinatra hasn’t a Yin to Yang, and good luck with reviving the Humphrey Bogart-less Holmby Hills Rat Pack. Joey Levitch is still Joey Levitch. Who’s Joey Levitch you ask? Welcome to a Dino-less world. Joey Levitch became Jerry Lewis. The word “cool” would have been forever associated with the weather. The Beatles would still be remembered as being “untouchable”.
Let’s be selfish for a bit. Without Dino, we don’t have see our fathers settling down in his favorite chair smoking his favorite pipe, spinning his favorite Dino LP. The man who makes my dad happy is the man that makes us happy. Pleasure hasn’t a salesman. Time passes and finds me sitting down in my favorite chair with my favorite beverage, listening to my favorite Dino iPod playlist. Coincidence? Think not my fellow Dino-phile. Dino transcends generations, countries, languages, races, sexes. He touches all! Cool has no color. Cool is ageless. You’re only as far from cool as the nearest Dino LP, CD, book, what have you. If you can’t find cool, pick up a Dino LP, look at it. It’s your cool compass, it always points to cool. Without it you’re never lost pally!
The things in life to be thankful for? Dino said it best..
Tender kisses, nights of bliss. Small moonbeams, sips of wine. Wedding bells, little kids, and dreams to savor. Blessings, man, wife, love and life. Memories are made of this.
