Hey pallies, likes when we first read what we have chosen as the title of today's Dino-missive, taken from a recent post tagged "Modern dating: Do ‘swiping’ rewards outweigh risks?" likes we thoughts it was yet 'nother extraordinary example of the truly transformational power of our most beloved Dino!
But, likes as we read further in this prose from the blog ""saltlakecitybestbusiness," we discovered that the ravin' ref to Charles and Shirley swayin' to the Dino-croon of "That's Amore" we came to the realization that it was frankly fictitious and we were thinkin' better of sharin' it with all youse Dino-holics.
Then we had a Dino-epiphany pallies....likes, likes, we came to the Dino-conclusion that even if the Dino-ref was only created in the mind of the swank scriber of the post....it still is an exemplary
example of the power of our Dino....cause the wise writer of this potent post on modern datin' coulda used a ton of other crooners from the '50's. But, this pallie whoever they are...make the coolest of cool choice to lift up the name of our Dino and one of his coolest croons ever! So so pallies, likes in our Dino-book it is STILL AN EXTRAORDINARY EXAMPLE of the TRANSFORMATIONAL POWER OF DINO!
Likes we thanks the unnamed wise writer of the amazin' article "Modern dating: Do ‘swiping’ rewards outweigh risks?" for liftin' up the beloved name of our most most beloved Dino in their prose. Modern dating: Do ‘swiping’ rewards outweigh risks?
Flashback: Imagine it’s 1954. Charles and Shirley meet at a church dance, introduced by friends, where they sway to Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore.” After several dates to the drive-in and school sporting events, they actually fall in “amore.”
Hey pallies, likes the month of March was a the month for our most beloved Dino to officially break the ties with two of his wives. As reported a few days 'go, it was on March 23, 1949 that our Dino legally finished his marriage with wife numero uno, Elizabeth Anne McDonald. And, today is the anniversary of his legal partin' of the ways with wife numero duo. It was on March 29 in 1973 that our great man officially ended his marriage to Jeanne Biegger.
Dino has originally sought the divorce from Jeanne after he met, while playin' in 'Vegas baby 'Vegas, 21 year old Miss Gail Renshaw. Our most beloved Dino was stunnin'ly 'n swankly smitten by Renshaw, then servin' as Miss USA.
After 'bout six months that amore cooled, and at the point that our Dino's divorce was finalized, Miss Catherine Mae Hawn, a 24 year old beauty parlor receptionist was waitin' in the wings. Dino met Miss Hawn while makin' the scene clubbin' at that swankest of swank spot, The Candy Store Discotheque. Our Dino was engaged to Miss Hawn, who would become the third Mrs. Dean Martin less then a month after our Dino's divorce was finalized from Jeanne.
Likes we truly does find it so interestin' that on the same day of the month of March, but 20 years apart our Dino's richly romantically crooned "Return To Me" in 1953 and then in 1973 legally made it clear that he was not returnin' to Jeanne. Likes it is always, always so great to remind ourselves of all these important dates in the life and times of our most most beloved Dino!

We were delightfully directed to the new-to-ilovedinomartin blog pad, "Michael Fairman Soaps: On Air On Soaps," where Mr. Fairman (image opposite) had conducted incredible interviews with Miss Janice Lynn 'n Miss Jaime Lyn Bauer stars of the famed TV Soap Opera, "The Young & The Restless."
Likes an answer from a question by Mr. Fairman to Miss Lynn produced an ol' so beautifully brief, but ol' so potently powerful reference to our most most beloved Dino. As you will read below, Miss Janice lovin'ly reveals how she first met our Dino and how they "became very close friends." In doin' a bit of research we found a perfect pose of Miss Lynn and our Dino at the romantico pad Who Dated Who. Sez there that Miss Janice and our Dino dated durin' 1976.

Y&R 45 INTERVIEW: Janice Lynde and Jaime Lyn Bauer Reflect On Portraying The Brooks Sisters, Their Storylines, On-Screen Loves, & The Ups and Downs Of Being Soap-Famous!
JANICE: I was at a dinner one night and Dean Martin came up to me and said, “You are my favorite actress and singer.” He then asked me to open for him in his nightclub act, and we became very close friends.
Hey pallies, we're back 'gain with a second helpin' of marvelous movie reviews supremely scribed by Miss Joi Sieger at her bodacious blog tagged "Hollywood Yesterday." Yester-Dino-day we were proudly privileged to share Miss Sieger (and her cat Nacho's) awesome appreciato for that Dino and Jerry fun flick "The Stooge. And likes as often happens, we simply have to do a bit of research in Miss Joi's backlog of posts to see if she had shared wise words on other Dino-epics.
Likes we discovered in part of her bio material that the Dino-classic western "Rio Bravo" is one of her fav flicks, so it came as no huge surprise that in May of 2017 she had ravin'ly reviewed "Rio Bravo" for her readership. That review is shared below. While Miss Sieger words are few on any of the swank stars of this truly classic of classic wonderful western, we were powerfully psyched that she creatively would have tagged it " Dude, Feathers, and Stumpy instead of Rio Bravo" referrin' to hope mucho she digs our Dino, Miss Angie, and Mr. Brennan.
One of the reasons that we have chosen to share her post is 'cause she shared a number of fun facts 'bout this silver screen epic under the headin' of "Rio Bravo Trivia." We learned a number of facts 'bout the film that we had not read before. Interestin'ly 'nough Miss Sieger doesn't share any of the cool Dino-details how our great man got the part of Dude.
We thanks Miss Joi Sieger of "Hollywood Yesterday" for this wonderful write-up on "Rio Bravo" and hopes that she will offer more rare reviews of other Dino-flicks as well. It would be incredibly intriguin' to us if she offered he thoughts on our Dino as swingin' spyster Matt Helm. Every now and then I get an overwhelming urge to watch a particular movie. Sometimes it’s a musical like Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Oklahoma, Wizard of Oz, or My Fair Lady. Other times it’s a classic like Gone With the Wind, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, Casablanca, or Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
Other times, the only thing that I want from life is an evening with an Abbot and Costello or the Three Stooges.
In all honesty, however, the type of movie I crave time with the most often is a good old-fashioned Western – specifically a John Wayne Western. And if we’re going to get even more specific.. it’s usually Rio Bravo, El Dorado, or Rio Grande that I need in my life!
While I love all three, if I had to choose one it’d be Rio Bravo. Dean Martin, Angie Dickinson, and Walter Brennan make this movie (in my opinion). In fact, as far as I’m concerned you could have named it Dude, Feathers, and Stumpy instead of Rio Bravo.
Okay, maybe that’s going a little far, but you get the idea. How Hollywood kept from putting Angie Dickinson in more starring roles is beyond me. She’s the perfect combination of talent and beauty. Well, she’s the perfect combination of a lot of things, but we won’t get into that right now!
Rio Bravo Trivia
The sets were built to 7/8th scale which allows the stars to appear larger than life.
Claude Akins recalled that during filming all the actors found themselves starting to talk like the Duke. John Wayne wasn’t amused.
Ricky Nelson turned 18 years old just days into shooting the movie.
Rio Bravo is included on Roger Ebert’s “Great Movies” list.
Director Howard Hawks wanted an actor in the role of Colorado who would draw teenagers. Allegedly, his first choice for the role was Elvis Presley. While Elvis was interested in the role (some people even say he was pretty excited about it), his manager (Colonel Tom Parker) not only wanted too much money but also top billing. Can you imagine – billing over The Duke?! Not happening.
Although Rio Bravo was actually a 1959 release, the opening credits say 1958.
Walter Brennan once said that, after Rio Bravo, when people would meet him for the first time, they’d expect him to limp like Stumpy. He said he just chalked it up to good acting – after all he had to remember which leg to limp on in each scene!
For most of the film Chance (John Wayne) has the front of his cowboy hat turned up to make him look friendlier and more approachable. However at the point in the movie where Chance has to stand up to the villain, the front of the hat is turned down, making him appear more menacing and tough.
For the first four minutes of the film, (including credits), there is no dialogue.
Included among the “1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.”
Angie Dickinson was cast in the role of Feathers after Howard Hawks saw her on an episode of Perry Mason.
Rio Bravo was HUGE in Italy. It actually led the way for the legendary (and fun) Spaghetti Westerns era.
Members of the Western Writers of America chose “My Rifle, My Pony, and Me” as one of the Top 100 Western songs of all time. (Video Below)

So it comes as no suprise that Joi shared swank scribin's on "The Stooge" at her blog "Hollywood Yesterday."
And, likes as you review her review you will note that one of Miss Sieger's cool cats, Nacho, dug this Martin & Lewis epic as well. Joi sweetly shares... "I have to tell you how much Nacho loves this movie. As you’d expect from a Classic Movie blogger, I watch a lot of old movies… A LOT. Yet, The Stooge is the only movie this particular cat will sit through with me. He settles in and, I kid you not, watches the entire movie with me." We are deeply deeply delighted to have this first hand testimony from Miss Sieger of her feline's fancy of "The Stooge" as well as her human delight as well!

Review: The Stooge, Starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis (Love this Movie!)
One of my favorite quotes of all time is, “I just want to spend the rest of my life laughing.” I honestly don’t know WHO originated the quote because each time I see (or hear) it, I’m too busy thinking, “AMEN!” to look for a name. I’m one of those people (for better or worse) who finds humor in most situations – if there isn’t any to be found, I do my darnedest to create some. If that can’t be done, I just part ways with the situation.
Okay, so I’m exaggerating a little but the truth of the matter is this – I love to laugh and do so many times throughout the day. Not surprisingly, many of my absolute favorite stars (Lucille Ball, Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, Carol Burnett, Abbott and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, Rue McClanahan, Bob Hope, Desi Arnaz, Redd Foxx, Don Knotts…) are those who fully support my funny bone fetish.
I’m convinced that it was actually Lewis and Martin, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and Abbott and Costello that turned me into the clown I am. I grew up watching (and loving) them – I guess, as a child, I assumed every single day was filled with laughter. I soon learned that every day does not come with laughter… perhaps that’s when I began trying to create craziness where none existed.
One of our cats (Nacho) and I recently rewatched one of four favorite movies, “The Stooge,” (1951) starring the wonderful Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. These men were just brilliant – geniuses in every sense of the word.
Before getting to the movie, I have to tell you how much Nacho loves this movie. As you’d expect from a Classic Movie blogger, I watch a lot of old movies… A LOT. Yet, The Stooge is the only movie this particular cat will sit through with me. He settles in and, I kid you not, watches the entire movie with me. I used to think it was Jerry Lewis’ voice (especially high in this role) that fascinated him, but he doesn’t fully commit himself to other Lewis movies like he does this one.
Synopsis: Bill Miller (Dean Martin) is trying to make it big as a singer. In spite of having a phenomenal voice, he’s just not achieving the type of success he strives for OR the level of fame Bill fully believes Bill deserves!
His luck changes after he’s teamed up with an adorably flighty comic named Theodore (Jerry Lewis). They become a huge success but Bill’s pride is convinced the draw is HIM, not THEM…. and he certainly wouldn’t consider giving “Ted” any credit. Bill’s pride gets in his way and nearly ruins his relationship with Mary (played by the beautiful Polly Bergen) and his career. Mary, as well as everyone else, sees that the success is just as much the stooge‘s credit as Bill’s.
Jerry Lewis’ Ted Hitting the High Notes… as in Assaulting Them!
Too cute for her own good Marion Marshall appears in The Stooge as Genevieve “Frecklehead” Tait, Ted’s love interest and none other than Frances Bavier (Aunt Bee) stas as Ted’s mother. They help round out a very talented and hilarious cast.
As much as I love (love, love, love) The Stooge, I have to admit… it takes a hot minute to get going. Once it hits its stride, though, it’s an especially fun ride. The best part of the ride is, undoubtedly, the wonderful ending.
MOVIE. MAGIC.
I don’t know about you, but my movie motto is this: A movie is only as good as its ending. I’ve never understood why movie makers would settle for anything less than a stellar ending – after all, its the last thing a viewer sees and the first thing they remember.
The Stooge has one of the best endings of any movie and I love every single thing about it.
So does Nacho.
(Concluded Below….)
Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin: Just One More Chance
Jerry Lewis called this his favorite Martin and Lewis movie, which is saying a lot since they were all extra, extra, extra special. He believed that this movie best-represented the phenomenon he and Martin had in real life.
Lewis and Martin made 17 movies together between 1949-1956. The Stooge was actually filmed in 1951, but it wasn’t released until 1953. Seems Paramount was entirely sure how this film’s dramatic moments would play out at the box office. Of all the Lewis and Martin movies, The Stooge brings the most drama. This is why, if you’re a huge fan of their comedies like I am, the film seems to take a bit to find its footing. It’s simply not the “one hilarious scene after the other” laughathons we’re accustomed to with their movies.
It is, however, one of the best – which is a real tribute to their talents.
Nacho and I both hope you’ll see this movie soon – whether it’s for the first or fortieth time, the ending will move you.
And don’t you love it when a movie does that?

The barber helping men with dementia
Lenny takes his pop-up barbershop to dementia care homes, providing a much-needed service to the men who live there. But Lenny does more than cut their hair: he unlocks their emotional memories by recreating the barbershop experience of their youth, with Dean Martin on the jukebox and a spray of lemon cologne in the air. "He doesn't rush you and he makes you feel so at home," says Sidney, 92.
Hey pallies, likes today is 'nother memorable day in the life and times of our most beloved Dino. It was on this date, March 23, in the year of our Dino 1949 that our Dino's divorce to his first wife Elizabeth Anne McDonald was finalized.
