WOAH WOAH WOAH. PAUSE. HOLD THE PHONE. STOP THE PRESS. jerrylevitch: jerrylevitch: jerrylevitch: classickat: classickat: imaginethatchristie: DEAN MARTIN AND JERRY LEWIS REUNITED TWICE BEFORE THE FAMOUS TELETHON REUNION IN 1976??? Once for The Joey Bishop Show 1958 and then at The Sands in 1960??? Can someone confirm with visual proof? Like a video, picture or link? They actually re-united at least ten times. Though I don’t believe the Joey Bishop show is one of them, because I’ve never seen articles or other proof regarding this. The Sands is correct though. Here is all of their reunions that I know about: They reunited one time in ‘57 to discuss there tv contracts: http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2454&dat=19570915&id=aqEyAAAAIBAJ&sjid=nuoFAAAAIBAJ&pg=2908,5886669 Then when they were doing shows separately at NBC in ‘57: image They reunited at the Cocoanut Grove in ‘58 at Judy Garland’s opening: image image They had their first public re-union on September 30, 1958 while Jerry was a guest on the Eddie Fisher show. Here’s the footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqlfgYZ3vZ0 They also were on stage together at the same time during the 1959 Oscars when Jerry hosted. At the end of the show Jerry had time to fill because they were running early, so he invited the stars on stage. He saw Dean on stage, and said “And they said me and Dean would never be on the same stage together again.” Apparently shot back” He needs me!” That’s not heard on the video though because Dean didn’t have a microphone. He was documented as saying that elsewhere. Here’s the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2riKdGOdU3E Jerry also called Dean when he thought Dean was sick and possibly had a brain tumor. Not technically a reunion, but still worth mentioning. : http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2206&dat=19600224&id=8FoyAAAAIBAJ&sjid=muoFAAAAIBAJ&pg=4943,4629282 Then the 1960 Sands reunion: image In Peter Bogdanovich’s book Who the Hell’s In It?, in the chapter on JL, Jack Keller mentions The Sands reunion briefly and the events leading up to it during his conversation with Bogdanovich. ”A couple of years ago, Jerry and Patti, his wife, were in a Las Vegas club. Dean was filling in for somebody that night. They hadn’t spoken remember, for about 4 years, not a word. Suddenly Dean sees Jerry sitting at a table, comes over an sits down. He’s very friendly, and they talk about old times. He tells Jerry he’s got a train to catch, and asks him whether he’d fill in at the end of the show. Jerry says sure. Anyway, comes time for Dean to go on, he gets up there and announces, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, there’s a fella sitting in the audience I’d like you to meet, my partner, Jerry Lewis.’ Not my former partner, ‘my partner.’ Well it’s a pretty moving scene—everybody’s bawling. He and Jerry re-create some of their old routines; you know, they ask each other, ‘Did we really do this shit,’ they do a soft-shoe. Then Dean leaves to catch his train, and Jerry finishes the show. Now get this. Not long afterward, in U.P.I. interview, Dean slams into Jerry like crazy. So go figure.” Who the Hell’s In It? - Peter Bogdanovich The Cocoanut grove reunion in ‘61, took place July 25, 1961 - exactly five years to the day of their break up in 1956!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PadCiJV1Gio Then apparently Jerry visited Dean on the set of Who’s Got the Action in ‘62: image They also reunited when their mutual friend Sy Devore died, and apparently thought about getting back together again in 1966. I still have to scan that article, and Kayla (deanmartiann) still has to scan hers that talks about it, but it is a thing that happened. Then they apparently talked to each other at one point during their separate ‘67 tv series to offer good luck to one another. Then they had their ‘76 reunion that we all know about. Also worth mentioning is their reunion at the Aladdin room in Las Vegas in 1977 also with Frank Sinatra present: http://classickat.tumblr.com/post/57039572488/jerry-lewis-surprises-dean-martin-and-frank Audio of the event here: http://classickat.tumblr.com/post/57003319412/jerry-lewis-surprises-dean-martin-and-frank They had a couple of reunions after that at Dean’s Birthday party, and Sammy Davis Jr’s, funeral, as well as others I’m sure. Here is the link to Jerry surprising Dean at his birthday party where Dean tells Jerry that he loves him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1c8aYfWkYY&t=1s I totally forgot about this from 1961. Jerry played the MGM Grand and had left Dean some razzing but good humored remarks on the mirror prior to our engagement. Dean was like a little boy bragging about it to us, ‘Look at what I wrote to Jerry; look what ‘Crazy’ wrote to me. I answered him real good…’ He was so cute!” Then they both appeared on this same show but separately but definitely had to have seen one another:http://jerrylevitch.tumblr.com/post/132262846019/dean-martin-and-jerry-lewis-appear-separately-on Then this from ‘67: image From ‘58: image From ‘58 again: image Since old links are not working anymore, here are a few: When Jerry called Dean when he thought Dean was sick and possibly had a brain tumor.
