On This Day In Dino-history: April 2, 1958
Hey pallies, likes repeatin' a post from last Dino-year when ilovedinomartin discovered that likes today is 'nother stellar day in all of Dino-history. Our pallie Mark R. our "popculturefanboy" [clicks on tag of this Dino-gram to goes there] last year on this date let the world know that it was on this very very day, April 2, in 1958 that the flick that introduced the world to the amazin' dramatic actin' ability of our most beloved Dino, "The Young Lions" maked its debut on the big screen.
As Mr. Mark points out, "The Young Lions" made "Martin a dramatic movie star on his own right without Jerry Lewis." This landmark film was certainly a huge huge landmark in our Dino's amazin' career in flicks, provin' that our great man was great at both dramatic and comedic roles, as well as singin' likes no one else.
Likes have included here some very cool pixs of our Dino durin' the filmin' and from the film, as well as the trailer from this landmark Dino-classic.
ilovedinomartin sends our out deepest thanks to pallie Mark R. for remindin' us of this very very special day in the life and times of our Dino. Pallies likes Mark are certainly doin' their part to helps all of us in our Dino-edification. Dino-awed, DMP
1958 - The motion picture "The Young Lions", starring Capitol Records artist Dean Martin, as well as Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift, opens and makes Martin a dramatic movie star on his own right without Jerry Lewis.
IMO, our Dino should have been nominated for an Oscar for his fine acting in The Young Lions. Oscar nominations for 1959 show a tough field of competition for the coveted statue.
ReplyDeleteNotably, Some Came Running, another film in which our Dino appeared, received various nominations, including best b&w cinematography.
Hey pallie, likes Miss AOW, your Dino-opinions are always always right on the Dino-mark....TYL is among a goodly number of Dino-flicks that oughta have earned nominations by Oscar. Keeps lovin' our Dino!
