Hey pallies, likes we here at our humble little ilovedinomartin conclave are daily delighted to share with all youse Dino-philes sweet stories of pallies of all types and stripes, of all ages and stages
who are deeply deeply devoted to our most beloved Dino.  Recently we shared two terrific tales of successful sports playin' Deanagers (posts located HERE and HERE).  Just yester-Dino-day ( HERE) shared 'bout oldster Mr. Fred Klaunberg  findin'  "joy watching Dean Martin shows in his room" at a care facility.

Likes today in this supremely special time of year where we are "Giving Dino Thanks," we hear 'nother story of a great group of oldsters in Brandenton, Florida who are bein' taught the simple skills to goes over to Youtube to enjoy the pleasurable  plethora of Dino-vids just waitin' to be eagerly enjoyed.    This noteworthy news comes via Miss Angie Angers (pictured on the right above),remarkable reporter coverin' Manatee Country for Spectrum  Bay News Channel 9, the cable news television network located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

In her news report, "New Computers, Internet Class Help Bridge Technology Gaps for Seniors, we lovin'ly learn 'bout "a new computer lab and weekly internet basics classes" bein' offered to seniors and that one of the first thin's taught was havin' "each attendee typed the name ‘Dean Martin’ into the YouTube search bar" to discover "the hundreds of videos available of his performances in the 1960s.
Likes we totally totally thrills that outta the zillions of entertainers that the youthful instructor coulda have chosen for this exercise...they chose our one and only Dino and that the faces of all these seniors "lit up" with the motherlode of Dino-treasures on YouTube.

Likes we just couldn't wait to share this hugely heartwarmin' story of Dino-delight with all youse Dino-diggin' pallies.  Indeed we give thanks once 'gain that so mucho much of our Dino's powerful performances were recorded for oldsters and youngsters and everyone in between to greatly groove on today, tomorrow, and Dino-always.

New Computers, Internet Class Help Bridge Technology Gaps for Seniors

BRADENTON, Fla. — Seniors who attend the Meals on Wheels Daybreak Adult Daycare in Bradenton now have access to a new computer lab and weekly internet basics classes.

Group will learn new internet skills in class each week
Program done in conjuction with Spectrum Internet Assist

The new computer lab was unveiled on Monday morning at the campus off SR-70 and shortly after, the first class kicked off.

Those in attendance started the class by learning how to power up the computer, enter a username, and navigate using a mouse. The group then moved on to typing key phrases into Google in order to find photos and information. It wrapped up with a small tutorial on how to watch videos using YouTube.

Faces around the room lit up as each attendee typed the name ‘Dean Martin’ into the YouTube search bar and saw the hundreds of videos available of his performances in the 1960s.

"It's really important that our seniors get the right exposure and the right education to help bridge some of these technology gaps,” said Rep. Will Robinson, (R) FL-District 71.

Each week, the group will learn new skills to help them navigate the internet.  In the weeks to come they will be diving into search engines, video chatting, and social media.

"Spectrum Internet Assist is that program that brings low-cost broadband to help our seniors be connected,” explained Joe Durkin of Charter Communications.

Attendee Dorothy Harness said while she used to use a computer for work, she hasn’t used the internet in roughly a decade. She was most interested in learning up-to-the-minute information about what is happening in the world, as well as tips and recipe ideas to stay healthy.

“If you don't have the money but you can have a computer, then you can just go where you want to in the world,” Harness said.

Charter Communications, Inc., in partnership with Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee and state Rep. Will Robinson helped make the new program possible.
