• A Norris kick once caused Dean Martin to go airborne.

Once upon a time, Norris and Bruce Lee were workout partners. Lee was the stunt coordinator for “The Wrecking Crew,” a 1968 movie starring Martin as agent Matt Helm. Lee told Norris there was a “perfect role” for him in a fight scene.

The scene called for Norris to fight Martin. Norris intended to throw a high, spinning kick over the star’s head. Martin failed to duck.

“I kicked Dean in the shoulder, sending him flying across the room,” Norris said, adding that he ran over to see if Martin was hurt.

Smiling, Martin said he was fine. The next time the sequence was shot, Martin did what he was supposed to do.
