On This Day In Dino-history: September 1, 1949

Hey pallies, likes 'nother extemely significant day in Dino-history is likes upon us. 'Cause likes on this first day of September in the year 1949 our most beloved Dino took beauty queen Miss Jeanne Biegger as his wife numero duo.

To celebrate this very important Dino-event, we goes to our pallie Catie's tumblr blog, "They always look better at night..," (clicks on tag of this Dino-message to goes there) where she has combined an outstandin' weddin' pix of the beautiful couple with some prose scribed by Mr. Jerry Lewis from his magnificant Dino-bio, "Dean and Me: A Love Story."

Just loves to read these kind of Dino-details....and these reflections from Mr. Lewis the extremely close relationship that our most beloved Dino had with his bestest of best pallie Jerry.

ilovedinomartin sez our thanks to Miss Catie for creatin' this Dino-memory on her tumblr account, sure to bring many of today's youthful hipsters to the knowledge and adulation of our great man. Dino-rememberin', DMP

You just got out of a marriage,” I said. “What the fuck are you rushing into another one for?”

He just stared at me, shocked that I had hit the issues on the button. I hurried to explain myself. “Forgive me, Paul.” I said. “Jeanne’s a great girl, and I think she would follow you to the ends of the earth. I know she would wait until you were ready. And there are four kids to think about.”

Dean thought for a moment. “Listen Jer,” he said. “You know me better than anyone, so what I say is between us. I do worry about my kids. But this feels so right. So strong.”

I nodded, finally understanding that he was really in love, and probably for the first time. “It’s your life, pal,” I told him. “And you have to do what’s best for you. You’ve always taken care of your kids; now it’s your turn to take care of yourself. Everything’ll fall into place.”

He threw his arms around me in a bear hug and whispered into my ear: “Thanks, Jer.”

As it turned out, Jeanne was the best thing that ever happened to Dean.

  4. Hi Mickey,
I`m glad you posted a reply.
As I said this award belongs to you and you have every right to sell it if that`s what you wish.
As a big fan of your grandfather I admit if I could afford to buy this I would and I would treasure it always.
The part I find confusing is you must have so many great momentoes of your grandfather you could sell.
I don`t really understand why this one ?
This is a lifetime acheivment award, something they just don`t give out to anyone.
Seeing this award would please Deans fans knowing he was loved and respected enough to receive this award and it only helps confirm what all of us fans know.
Dean Martin was the greatest entertainer of all time.
Having read and heard so much about Dean, perhaps this award wouldn`t have been a big deal for him.
Dean never seemed to realise just how great an entertainer, singer and actor he was.
I was just surprised you would part with this particular item.
But your aim is to sell this award to a true Dean Martin devotee and I hope this goes to someone who will treasure this and hand it down from generation to generation.
There are so many Dean Martin treasures out there us fans would love to have.
I remember a few years ago when I was 15 or 16 I saw the costume worn by Dean on the movie Bandolero.
    The shirt.
I think from memory the bidding was over a $1000.00
I wanted that shirt so much, so very much, but I was just a kid getting pocket money, lol
Still, thanks to my dad who was a huge Dean Martin fan, I have a lot of movie memorabilia, posters, lobby cards and so on.
I don`t care if they are of any financial value.
I personally will never part with them but that`s what being a fan is all about.
Your grandfathers award is much more than just a piece of glass.
But I know you have your memories to treasure.
Good luck on finding the right buyer.
    Hugs and Kisses
