".......... but any cowboy ol' Dino played was great"

Hey pallies, always findin' the coolest blogs honorin' our Dino. Today's Dino-find comes from the on-line presence of USA Today and a pad tagged "Pop Candy: Unwrapping Pop Culture's Hip And Hidden Treasures." (To view, just clicks on the tagg of this here Dino-post.)

A dude tagged Jimmy C. shares his favorite classic cowboys...Lucas McCain, The Lone Ranger, Bat Masterson, Matt Dillon...and, of course, our Dino as Van Morgan in "5 Card Stud"...sayin': "any cowboy ol' Dino played was great."

Ain't it amazin' how many different ways that pallies are drawn to Dino-devotion...singin', jokin', and a huge variety of filmed performances includin' as Jimmy C. notes our Dino amazin' ability to play a boy of cows...

Likes reads Jimmy's commentary below and note that I have found and posted the stellar Dino-clip that he aludes to in his Dino-prose as well as a cool set of shots that I found on the web. Gotta says pallies, I never ever gets tired of readin' the astoundin' number of tribs to our Dino all over the Dino-web! Thanks to Pop Candy and Mr. Jimmy C. for liftin' up the name of our Dino and sharin' his unabashed Dino-admiration with others. Dino-sharin', DMP

Today's Pop Five: Jimmy C.'s favorite classic cowboys

Today's contribution comes from Jimmy C. in Raleigh, N.C.:

We used to play cowboys and Indians a lot as boys. Here are my Pop Five cowboys that I loved from the glory days of TV:

5. Van Morgan (played by Dean Martin), 5 Card Stud -- This is a movie, not a TV series, but any cowboy ol' Dino played was great. I like to quote the showdown scene when Martin confronts Robert Mitchum (who plays a preacher) about being the murderer. Mitchum had a gun hidden in a Bible. Martin: "If that's a Bible, start reading. If its not, you drop it."

  1. I love this film!

Of course, our Dino is in it.

But I've long been a fan of Robert Mitchum's too.

BTW, sorry that I haven't been around lately, DMP. Tough situation going on in this household with Mr. AOW's stoke recovery.

  4. DMP,
Mr. AOW is greatly improved, but I have to be involved in helping him with his therapy exercises here at home.

And, of course, I have to prepare all meals, dole out the meds, do the laundry, etc., etc.

Dino is the best stress reliever around, I tell ya.

  7. In the movie, Dean had those 5 cards framed from one of his poker games but no one knew what the last card was- so they didnt know if he actually had a straight flush or if he was bluffing but he never told anyone what it was...
