40 years ago - Week of October 18, 1968

The Rocky Mountain News reported that entertainer Dean Martin was in contact with the three astronauts on Apollo 7. The paper reports his telegram stated, “Like all Americans I am proud of you,” and “I was higher last night than you are now.”

  9. Was this the Apollo flight which played "Houston" on the ship's speakers while in space and on the return voyage?

    Maybe not. It might have been Apollo 11. I seem to recall that Apollo 11 played Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" on the way up, and Dino's "Houston" when coming back.

    You know, Dino was a strong patriot. He really loved America and her many achievements.
