Danny G's Sunday Serenade with Dino: "A Winter Romance"

Well, hey there, pals!

What's shaken?!

Was Santa kind this year?
Did he stuff your stockins' with martini olives & nips of bourbon?
Haha!!
Hopefully!

Yes...it's true...'nother "Dino-Departure Day" has come & gone.

Time to put aside "The Dean Martin Christmas Album".

Time to look towards the new year, my friends! Lots of great great times & tunes headin' our way! Let's celebrate!

Dino will take care of our soundtrack.

He's gonna set the tone for a COOL COOL swingin' kinda Winter!

So don't fear, mi amici!

Don't be melancholy for yesterday's party!

The future is bright & right ahead!
Don't worry 'bout nothin'!
Dino got us covered, pallies o mine!

You see, my friends...Dean knew that Christmas carols could only be jammed on 'til December 25th.

So...what he did...for his pals...was this.

He got his fellas together.
Said..." Hey, pallies...let's get some fun fun wintery kinda tunes on some vinyl".
"Let's give my Dino-diggin' pals & gals somethin' they can groove on...all Winter long"!
Haha!!

Well...it MIGHT have gone kinda like that, I'm guessin'!

What came together...was a snowy masterpiece!

1959's "A Winter Romance" has some of my FAVE jams & is pure pure Dino-magic!

Fun jams!
Passionate jams!
Cooler than cool jams!!
Yes, my friends...it's got somethin' for everyone!

I actually start spinnin' this record November 1st & don't let up 'til the first sites & sounds of Spring! Ha!

I'll ease us into the right vibe...with the title track..for our final Serenade of 2019.

Let's send it off in style, mi amici.
It was one hell of a year!

But...guess what?!
I got this CRAZY...Dino-fied feelin'...that 2020 is gonna be BETTER!
FUNNER!
So much Dino-cooler!
Yes!

Keep your eyes open & your seatbelts tight!
It's gonna be some kinda swingin' 12 months!

Ciao!

Ed's Epistle.....Remembering Dino This Christmas

Hey pallies, likes it just wouldn't be the Dino-wintery season without the most powerfully pure prose from our brother in Dino, Ed of Ed's Epistle fame.  So,  once' gain we sweetly share  a post that Ed first scribed for Dino-departure-day 2009.

In his profoundly personal way, as only Ed can do it, he sensitively & solemnly  shares with us how deeply the passin' of our Dino effected him, and how only a few months later, the man who introduced him to our King of Cool, his wonderful Dino-devoted father, also followed Dino beyond the grave.

It is with the purest of pure  pleasure that we once 'gain share, "Ed's Epistle.....Remembering Dino This Christmas".......some of our Brother Ed's most deeply deep Dino-hearted  sentiments ever. Thanks Brother Ed for helpin' to bring so so much Dino-light to our Dino-paths!

We Remain,

Yours In Dino,

Dino Martin Peters

Christmas is a time of mixed emotions. Early childhood memories are filled with trees, lights, and gifts. Dino on the turntable and family in house. These are the days  were the basis of all future life moments are compared.

Things evolve as one ages. Times of receiving are replaced with times of giving. Times of being with family are replaced with times of remembering family. We settle for good health rather than good gifts. Memories and present family we rely on to get through present day ills and worries.

Family and friends who in the past filtered out the bad and rang in the good are no longer with some of us. Time for reflection and hopes for the future will fill my holidays.

Dino slipped away from us on a Christmas morning some fourteen years ago. Exited quietly on the most tranquil morning of the year. Typical Dino to duck out when no one was looking. Not wanting the attention, the spotlight. It was Christmas morning 1995, while Dino song filled the world’s airways, and hearts with his voice, his soul left this earth. Dino going Splitsville from his own party to catch a late western, Christmas morning he left to go the big bar upstairs. He knew no one was looking, I'm sure. The Rat Pack lost it's cool.

The world turned a page, started a new chapter.

When the image of Dean flashed on the screen, the family paused to watch. It's not good when a show is interrupted for a special announcement, on Christmas morning of all times. Worse when the image is the one you associate your childhood with. The smile happy, the voice song, the laugh fun, the face Dino.

Part of the collective American soul died that morning. Part of me left that morning. Ten months later, I personally had another loss in my life. The big guy who brought Dino into my life took an exit himself. My dad died the next September. Dino I and Dino II in my eyes, limo tailights. Rough year for this pallie.

Fortunately, the spirit of Dino has grown bigger since his passing. Dino is as big as ever. His is now the rank of legend. Dino owns the Cool recipe. He copyrighted 'sigh'. He's untouchable. He lives in memory, on screen, and in voice. Frank may have done it his way, but Dino did it our way. We get it. Christmas is tonic. Some parts happy, some sad, some hopeful, some remorseful. All mixed together makes you humble. I am fortunate for what I had, and what I have. Make someone feel that this season. Create some memories, play some Dino. Today is tomorrow memories.

To all of your family and friends, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I hope you're season are is filled with Dino, and your heart with happiness!

What a great great time of year to REALLY get in touch with your inner Dino, too, my friends!
Just soak in his vibe & spread it all 'round!

I'm so so thrilled today...to be able to play one of the ab so lute BESTEST of the BEST Christmassy tunes... by the ab so lute BESTEST of the BEST Christmas crooners!

The song I've chosen, for this VERY special  Sunday Serenade is "Silver Bells".

To me, it seems to capture the "Christmassy" essence, the most.

"City sidewalks, busy sidewalks...dressed in holiday style. In the air there's a feelin' of Christmas".

Yup...this jam REALLY sums up this VERY special time of year. So, mi amici...let's celebrate.

Let's be merry & have a drink for Dino!

He was the very best...& will NEVER fade away.

Here's to you, pallie...Salute!

Twas the night before Christmas
at the Dean Martin pad
chicks and pallies were groovin'
the music was rad.

Martinis were pourin'
shaken not stirred
Dino's "White Christmas'
was all that was heard.

The stockings were stuffed
with vodka and gin
Ol' blue eyes and Sammy
just stumbled in.

The boys in their tuxes
broads wrapped in their minks
Sir Dino was mixin'
some holiday drinks.

Then up on the roof
they heard a hell of a smash
Sammy yelled out
"Hey man, Santa just crashed!"

Frank invited him in
for a drink and a smoke
Santa said "Sure!
I'll take a rum and a coke!"

A bundle of booze
he had on his back
the tag on the bag
said "For the Rat Pack"

Dean gave Jeannie her gift
"To the one I love most"
"It's just what I wanted,
The Dean Martin Roasts!"

Dino caught Santa's eye
and gave him a wink
straightened his bow tie
and finished his drink.

The party still swingin'
Dino snuck up to bed
while visions of showgirls
danced in his head.

As St. Nick jumped in his sleigh
and rose to the heavens
They all gathered round'
to watch "Ocean's Eleven".

But they heard him exclaim
as he flew through the sky
"Merry Christmas Dino Crocetti,
your my kinda guy!!!"

8 Surprising Facts About 'Let It Snow'

BY MICHELE DEBCZAK DECEMBER 19, 2019

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra on the set of the Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra Christmas Show in 1967.

Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra on the set of the Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra Christmas Show in 1967

All it takes is hearing the piccolo at the beginning of Dean Martin’s “Let It Snow” to make some people crave the cold. No matter how you feel about the holidays, the honorary Christmas song celebrates a part of the season everyone can get on board with—namely, getting cozy indoors when the weather outside is frightful. Here are some festive facts you should know about the ultimate hygge anthem.

5. IT TOOK 50 YEARS FOR DEAN MARTIN'S VERSION OF "LET IT SNOW" TO ENTER THE BILLBOARD CHARTS.
After playing on radio stations through decades worth of Christmases, Dean Martin's cover of "Let It Snow" finally entered the Billboard Top 100 in 2018. It marked the first time in 49 years a Dean Martin track made the list, the last time being when "I Take a Lot of Pride in What I Am" charted in 1969. Martin was just eight years shy of beating Louis Prima's record for longest gap between Hot 100 hits, which lasted 57 years.

6. THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR "LET IT SNOW" WAS ONLY RELEASED IN 2019.

After charting for the first time in 2018, Dean Martin's "Let It Snow" reached another important milestone in 2019: An official music video for the song was uploaded to YouTube in November. It features an animated version of the singer celebrating the holidays with a cartoon cast of characters. The video was produced by Universal Music Enterprises, which has also released animated videos for classic holiday songs like "Jingle Bells" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

Martin sounds like he's having fun - more full of horny vigor (or spiked punch) than pious reflection on the season - capturing the same sexy, silly, lubricious vibe that made him such a loveable cad onscreen.

Hey pallies, likes we're back with 'nother beautiful blast from a past wintry season here at ilovedinomartin.  Today we groov-i-ly goes back to our Dino-gram posted on December 12 in the year of our Dino 2016 (Original post found HERE.)  That Dino-day we swankly shared Dino-seasonal delight from the hipster wintry blog, "hip christmas  - holiday music that rocks, rolls, swings, and twangs," where supreme  scriber Mr. Randy Anthony holds forth.

In speakin' of his potently powerful passion for winter seasonal songs, Anthony 'fesses up that "I've got a problem. A big problem. A problem draped in tinsel, hung with mistletoe, and wrapped in red and green - and rock and roll. Somewhere between a few dozen Christmas albums and a few hundred, I had to come clean - I've got a Christmas music monkey on my back."

Well, we here at ilovedinomartin have ubber understandin' for addictions as we always always need our next Dino-fix, and we are awesomely appreciative that Randy's addiction to "holiday music that rocks, rolls, swings, and twangs" has brought us a fantastic feature on our most beloved Dino's amazin' al-b-um recordin's for the Dino-season!

Mr. Anthony has created a marvelous montage of  incredible insights on the various incarnations of Dino-wintry croon al-b-ums, makin' this a powerfully pleasurable read.  We thanks Randy for his remarkable reflections and 'specially helpin' those younger in Dino to get the big picture of Dino-seasonal croonin'.  To checks this out in it's original source, likes simply clicks on the tag of this Dino-note.

Yours In Dino,

Dino Martin Peters

Dean MartinDEAN MARTIN'S Christmas music is satisfying in ways that his arguably more talented peers (including Frank SinatraNat "King" Cole, and Johnny Mathis) did not manage to achieve. Why? Unlike those legendary crooners - who grew generally stuffy on their respective holiday platters - Dino got loose (pun intended). On Making Spirits Bright (1998) (or the subsequent upgrade, Christmas With Dino), Martin sounds like he's having fun - more full of horny vigor (or spiked punch) than pious reflection on the season - capturing the same sexy, silly, lubricious vibe that made him such a loveable cad onscreen.
Making Spirits Bright compiles seasonal recordings from 1953 to 1966, including some rare singles and selections from two Christmas albums for two different labels: A Winter Romance (Capitol, 1959) and The Dean Martin Christmas Album (Reprise, 1966). A Winter Romance (repackaged in 1965 as Holiday Cheer) is far the better of the two, a typically suave, sexy Martin LP - though it's as much a concept album about winter as a traditional Christmas album. Rather than blathering on about Santa and Frosty, most of the songs revolve, literally, around romance in winter - c.f. "Baby It's Cold Outside" and "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm." Rudolph, however, eventually pokes his red nose in....
Dean MartinA Winter Romance has been reissued on CD twice (more counting imported versions). The first version - a 1994 reissue by Capitol - contains one bonus track, Martin's smokey chestnut "The Christmas Blues" (1953). Thesecond version - part of a restoration of Martin's catalog by Collector's Choice - is superior in most ways, including the comparatively hefty four bonus tracks. But, none of those tracks are Christmas songs - meaning, obviously, that none of them are "The Christmas Blues." Too bad.
The Dean Martin Christmas Album was recorded after Dino switched to Reprise, a label founded by his Rat Pack peers. But, by the mid-60's Martin was moving rapidly towards the middle of the road like most old school vocalists. So, unlike A Winter RomanceChristmas Album is a traditional holiday offering - that is, it's a deadly dull affair with little to recommend it beyond Dino's customary croon. Though never reissued verbatim on CD, most of the contents are found on Making Spirits Bright.
Dean MartinWhich is to say, A Winter Romance is the jewel here - in no small part because it contains Martin's most celebrated holiday song, his ribald rendition of "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" Pay close attention: nowhere in the lyrics of that celebrated Christmas standard is Christmas ever mentioned. Hence, it was a natural for inclusion on A Winter Romance. Without breaking a sweat, Dino lays down the definitive version of "Let It Snow," knowingly leering his way through lines like "I've brought me some corn for popping." Ahem...
Happily, "Let It Snow" is included twice on Making Spirits Bright - in both the irresistible, original 1959 version and a rare, rockin' 1966 reprise. But sadly, Making Spirits Bright has been deleted, though it's widely available on the second-hand market. No matter, because a very similar package, Christmas With Dino, was issued in 2004 (with yet another variation popping up in 2006). Christmas With Dino expands the former album's track count by two tippling songs and has been remastered - so it's arguably the superior purchase. Regardless, Dean Martin's Christmas music is required listening for all hipster geeks - bottoms up! [top of page]

Tomorrow In Dino-history: December 15, 1974

DEAN MARTIN - It's A Marshmallow World

Hey pallies, it's 'nother deeply delightful day in Dino-history....December 15 in the year of our Dino 1974. It was on this day in Dino-history that our most beloved Dino appeared on the annual Bob Hope Christmas Special croonin' "Marshmallow World"   Likes a few of years 'go durin' our Dino-wintery time together, as the days grew  closer and closer to the twentieth anniversary of our Dino's departure from our presence on December 25, 1995, we fondly felt just an ubber urgent need to share with all youse fellow Dino-holics our simple and yet,  hopefully special way of solemnly  showin' our absolute awesome affectionate  appreciation for our King of Cool.

Likes for  a ton of time we've  had the deepest of deep  desire in  our devoted Dino-hearts to create a series of gifs sharin' an entire Dino-croon made up of a plentiful plethora of marvelous moments.  Our desire in doin' so was to absolutely awesomely  accent each and every nuance of our great great man's beautifully bountiful body movements.   From every fascinatin' facial expression includin' our Dino's extremely expressive eyes (likes who can ever resist his glorious glance?!?!?!?!?!)....to the wonderful  ways he gracefully gestures with his ever present Kent cigarette in hand, we knew a series of gifs would  capture him in the coolest of cool ways possible.

And pallies, like it was a beau-ti-ful breeze of a decision on which Dino-croonin' vid that woulda be the swank subject of extra energetic effort for our most beloved  Dino.   Likes what coulda be better then the  December 15, 1974 vid ver-si-on of our King of Cool croonin' "Marshmallow World" on a Bob Hope Christmas special? Likes none to our Dino-notion!  Here we find our most beloved Dino outfitted in  his extremely elegant tux with omni-present  Kent smoke in hand, sittin' on his green velvet throne, surrounded by all the seasonal trimmin's includin' a delightfully  decorated Christmas tree inside and  swank snowman on the outside.

In 1974, at age 57,  we believe our Dino was at the absolutely awesome zenith of his coolest of cool career.  Dino was cooler, hipper, and randier then ever.  Always wantin' to put the accent on the youthful action of the day, Dino had surrounded himself with youthful ladies and gents....currently married to twenty something Miss Cathy Hawn, who he met while clubbin' at the coolest of cool Candy Store Discotheque.  When he wasn't wearin' the tux, he was often found sportin' the moddest of mod fashions....on the golf course, in segments of his variety show, and as swank swinger extraordinare, makin' the nightlife scene wherever the action was.

We think our Dino croonin' 'bout marshmallows is where it is at dudes, and it is our proud privilege to  once 'gain share, on this 14th day of Dino-winter month, on this 44rd anniversary of our Dino's awesome appearance with Bob Hope croonin' his swankest of swank seasonal selection "It's A Marshmallow World of Dino-winter month,  we shares with all youse Dino-philes the groovy great gifs of our one and only Dino swingin' at his swingin' best!   This year we are sad to say only able to share a potent portion of the Dino-gifs that we have shared in the past.  For some unknown reason a goodly number of the Dino-gifs that we put up have been removed at MakeAGif.com.  We hope you will deeply digs the one that we found still available of this profoundly perfect presentation of this darin'ly delightful Dino-wintery croon.  And, likes, of course, we couldn't resist sharin' the original youtube vid of "It's A Marshmallow World" from that Bob Hope seasonal special.

Likes, once 'gain,  we hugely  hopes it brings you as much pure potent pleasure as it has brought us in creatin' it!   Likes, be a love, and sends us some patter 'bout what youse think!

We Remain,

Yours In Dino,

Christmas with Dino. Let’s ponder that concept a second. No, let’s revel in it.

Hey pallies, likes it's the 13th day of Dino-winter-month and recently we have been searchin' the annuals of ilovedinomartin for powerfully potent posts from past Dino-seasons to respectfully reprise here at our humble little Dino-conclave.  Today we are totally totally thrilled to share a Dino-seasonal-gram that first appeared on December 12 in the year of our Dino 2016. (Original post can be viewed HERE.)

We placed the tags Dean Martin Christmas in the ol' goggle search engine and of the places we lovin'ly landed at the swankly swingin' site tagged "FunkMySoul - A Collection of Funk and Soul Gems" where Mr. Danny Eccleston has supremely scribed his really rad reflections on our most beloved Dino's seasonal croon cd, "Dean Martin - Christmas With Dino."

Likes, we naturally knew that a pad tagged "FunkMySoul" woulda offer a stunnin'ly stellar wisely worded review of Dino-wintry croons and that is exactly where it is at pallies!  Mr. Eccleston immediately grabbed our Dino-attentionado when he began with his powerful pontification of deep Dino-adulation with these words we have chosen to tag this post, "Christmas with Dino. Let’s ponder that concept a second. No, let’s revel in it."  And, likes that's exactly what Danny does....richly richly revelin'  in his deepest of deep Dino-delight in our Dino's mellow melodies of mirth a la winter.

We here at ilovedinomartin and pleased as punch to shouts out our "thank you very much" to Mr. Danny Eccleston for rad review of that classic Dino-winter al-b-um, "Christmas With Dino" showin' us that our Dino continues to thrill lovin' listeners likes 'specially in these days of Dino-winter month.

Dean Martin – Christmas With Dino

Dean Martin - Christmas with Dino front

It is included in Mojo‘s Top 15 Christmas Albums ever.
This CD compiles the “best” songs from Dean Martin’s two Christmas albums (1959’s A Winter Romance & 1966’s The Dean Martin Christmas Album), plus the 1953 single “The Christmas Blues”. Some songs appear twice on this disc, because Dean recorded them for both of his Christmas albums.

Dean Martin - Christmas with Dino back
Christmas with Dino. Let’s ponder that concept a second. No, let’s revel in it. It would involve plenty of these, perhaps one or two of these, and plenty of feet-up time. Dean might sing you a song… but rest assured he wouldn’t knock himself out. That’s OK, though. Martin’s good-natured mumble-croon is the perfect complement to a lazy Yule: real-fire warm and ludicrously laid back – practically comatose, in fact, on Winter Wonderland, drawn for this seasonal Dino roundup from his 1966 Crimble cash-in, The Dean Martin Christmas Album. These tracks are never less than exceedingly agreeable, but are bettered by those drawn from 1959’s A Winter Romance, with gloriously witty arrangements and crisp work by the Gus Levene-conducted orchestra putting the porridgey ’66-vintage orchestrations to shame. This, surely, is the best Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! on record, and elsewhere Dino lives up to his ‘King Leer’ nickname on Frank Loesser’s slyly lascivious Baby, It’s Cold Outside. Dean’s Christmas TV special became a holiday staple in the States. Like everything else, he didn’t seem to take it terribly seriously, and perhaps the irony was not lost on him when he expired, of an acute respiratory failure, on Christmas morning, 1995. All ye who live to loaf, raise a glass to him. Danny Eccleston.

On This Day In Dino-history: December 12, 1975

Hey pallies, likes we're likes just 'bout at the half-way mark to our reverent remembrance of Dino-departure Day, December 25, 1995 and this Dino-day, December 12 is not only the anniversary of the birthday of our Dino's bestest of best pallie, Mr. Frank Sinatra, but also 'nother swankly significant day in all of Dino-history.

Likes it was on December 12, in the year of our Dino 1975, that our most beloved Dino appeared on "The Tonight Show" with host Johnny Carson in what were probably his more memorable moments appearin' on late night television.  Below is the youtube vid of the intriguin' interview that Mr. Carson coolly conducted with our King of Cool.  This particular vid is one of several shared on youtube and as of scribin' this, this vid has had OVER  5 MILLION 331 THOUSAND HITS!

What makes this swank segment of our Dino patterin' with Mr. Carson and Mr. Bob Hope so incredibly intriguin'  is that it appears that our main man had been enjoyin' liberal liquid libations before comin' on the show....indeed our  Dino appears to actually be stoned and we get to experience  Drunky Dino.  As Dino-philes all know, our Dino most often played drunk in his 'Vegas baby 'Vegas night club act 'n on the Dino-show, usually havin' apple juice in his glass, just makin' like he's drunk.  But, likes in this appearance by our Dino, our main man has been partyin' before he would later attend Mr. Sinatra's birthday party.   So, sit back and enjoys our swingin' Dino under the influence....with no holds barred!

Martin’s spirit lives on, however, and Christmas would not be the same without the famous crooner singing ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’

Let It Snow! Let It Snow."

Likes in wanderin' over to Mr. Chilton's twitter pad we learned this Londoner's coolest of cool credentials...."Chief Book Critic for @Independent. Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’: Dean Martin’s Classic Christmas Song,"

We gotta 'fess up that we found ourselves clingin' to each and every touchin' 'n tender throught that Martin has shared....so so full of Dino-edification.  We hear the story of not only the history of when and where this seasonal selection was composed bySammy Cahn and Jule Styne , but also the sweet story of when and where our Dino recorded it as part of his Capital Record's al-b-um "A Winter Romance."  And, Chilton shared details of our Dino's departure day of December 25, 1995.  And, also included is the vid of new animated version of our Dino's croonin' of "Let It Snow!" featured here twice previously in mid November.

‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’: Dean Martin’s Classic Christmas Song

Written during a heatwave, ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’ became a holiday standard. Dean Martin’s version is impossible to beat.

Published on December 6, 2019

By Martin Chilton

Dean Martin Let It Snow Let It Snow Let It Snow

August 1959 was an exceptionally hot month for most of the United States. It greatly amused Dean Martin, as he walked into Capitol Records’ studio, at 1750 North Vine Street, Hollywood, on Thursday, 6 August, to think that he was about to record his own version of the winter song ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’ on such a hot day.
Martin, whose singing imitated the smooth baritone vocals and phrasing of Bing Crosby, had the perfect voice for festive songs. His version of ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’, which was cut for the Capitol album A Winter Romance, is the best and most popular adaptation of a song that has become an absolute Christmas classic.

“Why don’t we go to the beach and cool off?”

Fourteen years before Martin went into the studio, the song had been written by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne on America’s hottest day of 1945. Lyricist Cahn and composer Styne were two of the greatest songwriters of that golden age of popular music: at his peak, Cahn was reportedly America’s highest-paid songwriter, often earning more than $1,000 a word. He won four Oscars: for ‘Three Coins In The Fountain’, written for the 1954 film of the same title; ‘All the Way’, written for the film The Joker Is Wild; ‘High Hopes’, from A Hole In The Head; and ‘Call Me Irresponsible’, from the film Papa’s Delicate Condition.
All those Academy winners pale in comparison, however, to the long-term success of ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’, which was penned in sunny California. In the book Songwriters On Songwriting, Cahn recalled how the famous tune came about: “‘Why don’t we go down to the beach and cool off?’ I asked Jule. He said, ‘Why don’t we stay here and write a winter song.’ I went to the typewriter. ‘Oh, the weather outside is frightful/But the fire is so delightful/And since we’ve got no place to go/Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.’ Now why three ‘Let it snow’s? Why not two or four? Because three is lyric.”

“The kind of black joke Dean Martin might have made”

The song was first recorded for RCA Victor in 1945 by Vaughn Monroe, and versions by Woody Herman and Connee Boswell soon followed. But it is Martin’s version, which was arranged by Gus Levene and conducted by Hy Lesnick, that became a festive classic. His 1959 recording is the latest in a series of classic holiday tunes to receive a new music video treatment for the festive season, created in 2019 by animation studio Fantoons.
Carly Simon and Rod Stewart have also recorded successful versions of ‘Let It Snow’; Simon’s 2005 take on the song is unusual in being sung from the point of view of the host instead of the guest. It peaked at No.6 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Stewart, meanwhile, recorded ‘Let It Snow’ on his 2012 album, Merry Christmas, Baby. His version reached No.1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart in December that same year.
Cahn and Styne’s song is so iconic that it can be interpreted in a variety of styles. Among the different takes are those by Kate Rusby (folk), Louie Bellson (jazz), Aaron Neville (soul), Randy Travis (country), Twisted Sister (heavy metal), Jeremih and Chance The Rapper (hip-hop) and Michael Bublé (pop). Martin liked it so much, he re-recorded a version in 1966, as part of The Dean Martin Christmas Album.
It is hard to beat that 1959 version, though. The singer was 78 when he died, on 25 December 1995, of acute respiratory failure, at his home in Beverly Hills. As film director Peter Bogdanovich said: “That Dean Martin died on Christmas Day was the kind of black joke he might have made.” Martin’s spirit lives on, however, and Christmas would not be the same without the famous crooner singing ‘Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!’

Image may contain: 2 people

Hey pallies, likes it's been quite the while since we have accented our Irish laddie, virile vocalist extraordinaire, Deanager Mr. Daire O'Hagan, but likes a couple of days 'go Daire put my tag  in a comment on one of his recent posts, and when we were emailed of this fact, we simply had to go over to facebook to see what Daire was up to.  Likes what we discovered was that Deanager Daire has a brand spankin' new "official music video" one of our Dino's swankest of swank seasonal croons...none other then "Baby It's Cold Outside."

Now, perhaps many many of youse Dino-philes had been readin' the  news on the ol' 'net of a "new" ver-si-on of "Baby" that has been recently released that has made changes to the original lyrics.  We have totally totally been stayin' out of the controversy that has ensued....and it is our plan to continue to do so.....but that, of course, will not stop us from completely celebratin' and sweetly sharin' with all youse Dino-adulators the wonderful news of Daire's wintery music vid that we are sharin' below.

We are perfectly pleased to note that Daire has chosen to share the original lyrics as written by Frank Loesser in 1944.  Daire shares the mike with Miss Niamh Lynns who is a wonderful singer in her own right.  Indeed we are deeply deeply delighted to have Deanger Daire get our attentionado via a facebook comment so we coulda does our Dino-part to spread this wonderful Dino-news.  ilovedinomartin is totally totally thrilled to do all that we can to assist Daire's desire to keep our most beloved Dino's lovin' legacy alive through his own musical journey.

So pallies, give this second "official music video" a listen now and in the days ahead as we move through Dino-winter-season.  We will soon also share Daire's first music vid, also posted on youtube, of "The Christmas Song" that he released in 2017.  We solemnly salute our Dino-lovin', Dino-croonin' pallie, Deanager Daire O'Hagen and thank him mucho muchly for lettin' us know of this most recent remarkable release of his ver-si-on of "Baby It's Cold Outside."  And, likes pallies, we, of course, can't help ourselves from also sharin' a youtube vid of our Dino's "Baby It's Cold Outside."
