More Dino-delight from Mr. Liam Rodgers

Hey pallies, likes followin' yesterday's Dino-gram accentin' Mr. Liam Rodgers' new blog  "THIS QUIET MAN - 'All the Way," we decided to do a wee bit of reviewin' of Rodger's twitter posts to see how he might have expressed his Dino-adulation there.  Likes our search was rewarded with three deeply deeply Dino-centric tweets from the month of October 2016.

In the first terrific tweet on October 16, Rodgers, who as you will note tags himself "Duke @ Rodgey," shares a youtube vid of Dino speakin' of drinkin" and Rodgers refects, "You can only find advice as good as this after hauf 3 in the morning."

The next day, October 17,  Liam references our most beloved Dino as "Hero" with a coolly classic image of our Dino and the thought "Stay Drunk" from "Twelve Hangover Cures From Famous Heavy Drinkers."

Rodgers' October 28 post is that famous short gif from our Dino's performance in his last big screen effort, "Cannonball 2," where with ever present Kent cigarette in hand, Dino, instead of usin' a glass for a drink, simply lifts the bottle to his lips.

If we had any doubts 'bout Liam's Dino-delight these three twitter tweets leave no doubt in our minds of his awesome absolute adulation of our one, our only Dino.  And, likes we are sure that we will find many opportunities to feature his Dino-devotion on the the pages of our humble little ilovedinomartin blog.

We salute you Mr. Liam Rodgers and are powerfully pumped to see 'nother of today's youth deeply diggin' our main man.  Likes to checks these potent posts out in their original source, simply clicks on the tag of this here Dino-report.

You’re not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on

Dean Martin

This Quiet Man

Welcome

So here it is, my first dive into the shallow end of online blogging. I’m just toying around with this for now, so gimme some time to get to know it and then we can get on with getting to know me.

For the mean time, though, I guess an introduction is in order. My name’s Liam but on here I’ll probably go by my initials, L.B., because it’s got a nice ring to it, I suppose. What else about me? Well I’ve got a Law degree and I’m planning on becoming a Naval Officer, sooner or later.

The name for the blog was based on my favourite film, ‘The Quiet Man, and the tagline is title of my favourite song, ‘All the Way’ by Frank Sinatra. That’s pretty much what this blogs going to be about, me sharing the things that make up my life; from the films, music, food and clothes, to the little idiosyncrasies from a time gone by that I more often than not find along the way.

I’ll tend to stray away from politics and at most look at particular standout individuals that might happen to take my fancy. Same goes for religion too.

Well until I find something to talk about for real.

L.B.

On This Date In Dino-history: March 29, 1973

Hey pallies, likes  the month of March was a the month for our most beloved Dino to officially break the ties with two of his wives.   As reported a few days 'go, it was on March 23, 1949 that our Dino legally finished his marriage with wife numero uno, Elizabeth Anne McDonald.  And, today is the anniversary of his legal partin' of the ways with wife numero duo.  It was on  March 29 in 1973 that our great man officially ended his marriage to Jeanne Biegger.

Dino has originally sought the divorce from Jeanne after he met, while playin' in 'Vegas baby 'Vegas, 21 year old Miss Gail Renshaw. Our most beloved Dino was stunnin'ly 'n swankly smitten by Renshaw, then servin' as Miss USA.

After 'bout six months that amore cooled, and at the point that our Dino's divorce was finalized, Miss Catherine Mae Hawn, a 24 year old beauty parlor receptionist was waitin' in the wings.  Dino met Miss Hawn while makin' the scene clubbin' at that swankest of swank spot, The Candy Store Discotheque.   Our Dino was engaged to Miss Hawn, who would become the third  Mrs. Dean Martin less then a month after our Dino's divorce was finalized from Jeanne.

Likes we truly does find it so interestin' that on the same day of the month of March, but 20 years apart our Dino's richly romantically crooned "Return To Me" in 1953 and then in 1973 legally made it clear that  he was not returnin' to Jeanne.   Likes it is always, always so great to remind ourselves of all these important dates in the life and times of our most most beloved Dino!

I'm just honored to spend time with Carrie, Nadine and Joan, a stunning octogenarian who has the best stories ever. "See that corner," Joan said, shlepping us through Hollywood because she loves to drive. Joan is the only person I know who loves to drive. "When I was in school," she said, "I was walking home from Hollywood High and a man in a Cadillac drove by and honked and waved hello. It was Dean Martin." "Did he want you to hop in?" I asked. "No! He just letting me know Dean Martin was driving by." "He wanted you, Joan, admit it." "He did not!"

Likes, it seems that Mr. Barjum's boypallie Henry recently celebrated his tenth birthday and grandparents gifted the lad with an Echo Dot last week.  We gotta 'fess up that we never ever heard of an Echo Dot 'til we read 'bout it in this Barjum's writin's.  Seems that young Henry has become supremely smitten by all the ways that "Alexa" can answer his questions.  If you clicks on the tag of this Dino-gram you can read the awesomely amazin' wondrous ways that Miguel's boypallie is havin' the time of his life usin' Alexa's services.

Of course, likes, what grabbed our Dino-attentionado was this sentence, "A running list of more music I’ve barely heard of is oddly interrupted by a request to hear some Dean Martin. No idea what prompted that."  Somehow, someway, seems that ten year old Henry has begun usin' Alexa to gets himself turned on to Dino-croonin'....and, of course, we celebrate Henry's discovery of the Dean scene!!!!!  We woulda loves to learn more 'bout Henry's awesome attraction to our King of Cool, but for now we simply share our terrific thrill of knowin' yet 'nother of today's youth are tunin' in to the smooth sounds of our great great man.

Boy meets artificial girl: My son got an Echo Dot, and here’s what he’s saying to Amazon’s Alexa

by Miguel Barjum 7:44:00 AM

In my 10 years as a parent, I’ve served as the authority on a number of subjects, ranging from when one might expect a cut to stop bleeding to why there are no more dinosaurs.

But there’s a new voice in my house fielding questions from my curious kid, and we’re all learning what it’s like to live with one another.

Amazon’s Alexa showed up inside an Echo Dot last week, courtesy of grandparents on the other side of the country looking to wow a Seattle kid on his birthday. From the moment she was powered on and linked to various devices around our house, the voice-activated A.I. has had my son Henry’s attention.

We’ve had the entire restaurant singing to Dean Martin on a Saturday night.

Image result for dean martin singing

Hey pallies, likes we ain't gonna be 'round this Saturday, so a bit early here is a perfect post for Saturday with our Dino!

Likes words can't begin to describe the deep deep delight we gets when usin' the blessed blog search tagged Twingly Advanced Blog Search.  Why so you quire?   Well likes we never ever know where the pallies at Twingly will send us next and what sorta Dino-adulation that we will encounter.

Likes case in point woulda be a few 'go when Twingly sent us off to the restaurant review blog tagged "So Cal Restaurant Show," which is a podcast first and printed blog secondly.  The "about" section of the blog tells us that..."“The SoCal Restaurant Show,” the ultimate locals’ guide to food, restaurants and beverages with a side of travel with food at its center can be heard on AM 830 KLAA each Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12 Noon. It’s hosted by seasoned food, libation, and travel journalist, Andy Harris, and Chef Andrew Gruel the Executive Chef and Concept Creator of Slapfish Restaurant Group."

Of course, likes why Twingly sent us to this food pad is 'cause the local restaurateur, Mr. Rick Reich of Brix at The Shore was interviewed 'bout his business, and as you will note below Reich told scriber Mr. Andy Bell that " We’ve had the entire restaurant singing to Dean Martin on a Saturday night."

Now that's an experience that we are certain that all Dino-philes woulda coolly craves bein' a part of!!!!!  Likes we knows if we ever gets to So Cal, we'll be sure of makin' the scene at Brix on a Saturday night to be part of the Dino-action.  We can just picture a full Saturday night crowd croonin' 'long to our most beloved Dino!!!!  We're purely positive that many musta been drawn into the Dino-fold through such experiences!!!!!

We thanks Mr. Andy Bell and the So Cal Restaurant Show for accentin' Mr. Rich Reich's restaurant and for Reich's sharin' the Dino-devotion of Saturday night eaters at his food pad.  Likes to checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this Dino-gram.  btw pallies, we have only included a small portion of Mr. Bell's report, so be sure to clicks on the link to read the full report.

Show 215, March 18, 2017: Rick Reich, Proprietor, W.I.N.O, Brix at The Shore, Long Beach

Posted on March 20, 2017

Rick Reich

When it comes to personable characters with their own sense of style on the Long Beach dining scene, Rick Reich of Brix at The Shore in Belmont Shore wears the befitting crown. It’s a taste of the Big Apple with its iconic, piled-high pastrami sandwiches, intimate wine bar ambiance and a standout rotating selection of craft beer. It’s all of 65-seats.....................

“I call Brix at The Shore an adult amusement park,” says owner Rick Reich, who also doubles as the restaurant’s sommelier. “Belmont Shore has plenty of places that appeal to college kids, but what the area was lacking was a hangout for a more established crowd who needed a place to unwind after work, enjoy a good glass of wine or beer, grab a bite to eat, and occasionally break out into song – trust me, it’s happens. We’ve had the entire restaurant singing to Dean Martin on a Saturday night. And that’s what makes Brix so appealing.”

The always cool Martin went on to cement his place in hipster folklore as a founding member of the Rat Pack

Hey pallies, likes today our pallies at Twingly Advanced Blog Search takes us to the marvelous blog "MEMORABLE TV" where we find 'nother Martin and Lewis accented post tagged "Hollywood Feuds: Dean Martin vs. Jerry Lewis."  We thinks it is a great follow-up bit of Dino-devotion from our last post on how our most beloved Dino was in the words of Mr. Jerry Lewis's first wife Patti, "a second wife" to Lewis.

The unknown scriber of this post reminds their readers that 'though our Dino and Mr. Lewis we an "unlikely pair," but as is often the case "opposites attract."  In the short section tagged "The Combatants" we really dig these particular thoughts..."When Lewis declared his love for Martin before their final movie, Dino replied, “You can talk about love all you want. To me, you’re nothing but a dollar sign.”  Those in the Dino-know know that this scriber has left up a particular explicative that preceded the phrase "dollar sign."

Likes, youse may be wonderin' why we tagged this post with the thought,"The always cool Martin went on to cement his place in hipster folklore as a founding member of the Rat Pack...."  Well, we largely love the way this swinger scriber has of turnin' the descriptive Dino-phrase, "hipster folklore"...'cause indeed our Dino is the hippest of hip hipster 'round!

It's a relatively short segment of Dino-prose 'bout a great introduction to what happened to the greatest comedic team ever...our Dino and Mr. Jerry Lewis.  We thanks the unknown author for keepin' the Dino-light glowin' bright at "MEMORABLE TV" and when we checked we found a few other Dino-centric posts there that we will share in the future here at ilovedinomartin.  To checks this out in it's original source, simply clicks on the tag of this Dino-message.

Hollywood Feuds: Dean Martin vs. Jerry Lewis
March 23, 2017

It’s not just Bette and Joan that have lit up Hollywood with their feuding, over the years there have been pistols at dawn between actors, directors and even publicists. Here in an occasional series we profile some of the best of them. First up is Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

The Combatants
The confident, Italian crooner from Ohio and the ambitious, young comic from the Borscht Belt made an unlikely pair when they first hooked up in 1946. But these opposites attracted the crowds, and during the decade following World War II, there was no bigger comedy team than Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.

Hollywood Feuds Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis

Hollywood Feuds Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis

The Bad Blood
In retrospect, it’s a wonder the crazy monkey and the handsome organ-grinder lasted together as long as they did. Dean grew tired of Jerry’s ego and worshipful toadying. Jerry chafed at the restrictions of playing the clown. By the end, not even their massive paychecks from radio, TV, stage and screen could keep the amóre alive. When Lewis declared his love for Martin before their final movie, Dino replied, “You can talk about love all you want. To me, you’re nothing but a dollar sign.”

The Upper Hand
Call this one a draw. The always cool Martin went on to cement his place in hipster folklore as a founding member of the Rat Pack and continued to churn out hit songs, movies and TV shows. Lewis carved out his own niche by providing fuel for a generation of comics, becoming a relentless telethon host and, inexplicably, attaining hero status in France. Viva Buddy Love!

Dean was like a second wife to me......

My Photo
Hey pallies, likes by readin' the tag of today's Dino-gram (without lookin' at the bottom of this post), likes can you guess who the phrase, "Dean was like a second wife to me....." was referrin' to?  Likes of course it's spoken 'bout our most beloved Dino's most beloved partner, Mr. Jerry Lewis.

Likes, we were totally totally thrilled to have Twingly Advanced Blog Search direct us to the blog, "Poseidon's Underworld" where the pallie whose pose is above tags himself "Poseidon3."  Likes all we could discover 'bout him is that he hails from Cincinnati, Ohio.  Recently, "Poseidon3" crafted a post tagged "As the Saying Goes..." that included a quotation from our Dino's partner Mr. Jerry Lewis, which you will read below, that speaks of why Lewis' first wife Patti never spoke a word 'gainst our Dino while he partnered with Mr. Lewis.

We digs the intriguin' insight (that we here at ilovedinomartin absolutely 'gree with" that "Dean was like a second wife" to Mr. Lewis.  Likes we digs even more the coolly crafted image that "Poseidon3" shares of Lewis with his family on the left portion of the picture with a famous pose of our Dino and Mr. Lewis gettin' ready to kiss each other while Patti and Jeanne are in front of 'em and 'nother pose of our Dino below likes he is part of the Lewis clan.

And, we greatly gets why Mr. Lewis made the statement, "I still love Dean, but I don't like him anymore."  As all us Dino-philes know without a Dino-doubt, Mr. Jerry Lewis never ever fell out of love with our Dino, but 'pon their goin' their separate ways Mr. Lewis didn't like him for all that happened in the process.

We thanks "Poseidon3" for this particular post that continues to remind us of the closer then close relationship between our most beloved Dino and his post beloved partner, Mr. Jerry Lewis....as Patti noted our Dino was like 'nother wife to Lewis.   To checks this out in it's original source, simply likes clicks on the tag of this Dino-report.

As the Saying Goes...

"After the break-up, I asked Patti why she never said anything against Dean, and she told me that Dean was like a second wife to me and that she had no right to speak against him. Isn't that something? ...I still love Dean, but I don't like him anymore." - JERRY (and PATTI) LEWIS on DEAN MARTIN

Hey pallies, likes we thought we woulda does a wee bit of 'net surfin' to see if we coulda comes 'cross more powerful pixs of our Dino with Elizabeth Ann McDonald, his first wife.  Likes as all youse Dino-holics knows, the wonderful world wide web is lovin'ly ladens with  unendin' incredible images of our Dino and we happened upon a pinterest pad that you can view  HERE that provided us with a couple of powerful poses below.

As you will note, the last pix includes our Dino's mother, Mrs.  Angela Crocetti 'long Dean and Betty..all lookin' so so happy at the time.  Likes though this day in Dino-history was very very sad for Dino's first wife Elizabeth Ann, it was the day that our Dino gained the freedom to soon marry the women of his dreams Miss Jeanne Biegger.

Likes as time permits we will try to continue searchin' for more images of our Dino and Elizabeth, and we woulda 'specially likes to be able to share poses of the couple with their four children:  Craig Martin (born 1942); Claudia Martin (born March 16, 1944); Gail Martin (born 1945); and Deana Martin (born 1948).

Actor, Athlete and Dashing Pilot, Dean Paul Martin Dies When His Jet Crashes on a Mountainside
BY RON ARIAS

POSTED ON APRIL 13, 1987

It was early Saturday afternoon, March 21, and Capt. Dean Paul Martin, 35, was doing what he liked best: piloting an F-4C Phantom jet on a routine exercise for the California Air National Guard. Before takeoff he said goodbye to his son Alex, 14, then taxied out for a flight over the snow-covered, cloud-laced San Bernardino Mountains. Martin’s fully fueled craft, which also carried his weapons officer, Capt. Ramon Ortiz, 39, was the middle jet in a line of three Phantoms. Ten minutes later, at 1:55 p.m. and after unaccountably dropping down from 9,000 to 5,500 feet, his plane slammed into the top of a ravine at 400 mph, killing both men.

Thus ended the hard-driving, golden-boy story of “Dino” Martin, the handsome, multitalented son of entertainer Dean Martin and his second wife, Jeanne Bieggers. As a singer, actor, athlete and pilot, twice married Dean Paul “lived the life of 100 people and had the energy of 200 kids,” says his sometime girlfriend, TV scriptwriter Wendon Swift. Adds Morgan Mason, son of James and Pamela Mason: “His life was fuller than most people 100 years old.”

Yet for all Dean’s efforts to carve a niche for himself apart from the Rat Pack glamour of his father, he never lost his image as a restless playboy unable to focus on a single passion. “The problem with Dean is that he was too good at too many things,” says Mason. “He had a lot of money and he’d spend it freely. He went through Ferraris when he was a kid. He was terrific looking, from a famous family, and he had talent. When you have all those things on your plate—well, it’s hard to resist someone like that.”

At 11, coached by tennis ace Pancho Segura, Dean began playing junior tournaments. At 13, he abandoned tennis and formed a rock band with his friend Desi Arnaz Jr. and a neighbor, Billy Hinsche. The group was called Dino, Desi and Billy and produced several teenybopper hits (remember I’m a Fool?). Eventually Dean returned to tennis at UCLA, where he joined the NCAA championship squad, which included Jimmy Connors. At 19, after two semesters, he dropped out of college to marry 19-year-old actress Olivia (Romeo and Juliet) Hussey, who would become the mother of Dean’s only son, Alex. Within four years they were divorced.

Then in the mid-’70s, the 6′,175-lb. Martin played briefly as wide receiver for a semipro football team, the Las Vegas Casinos (“the most irrational act of my life”), before trying a stint as a race car driver and seriously trying the pro tennis circuit. An avid firearms collector, he was arrested in 1974 for possession of unregistered World War II guns. He pleaded guilty, explaining that he started his collection when he was 12 but forgot to keep up with registration laws. Fined $2,000, he was placed on probation and subsequently gave up the hobby.

After another brief try at college (this time premed studies at USC), Dean continued pro tennis, and although he never rose above 496 in world ranking, he recalled his seven years on the circuit as “the happiest time of my life.” His athletic flair served him well in his lead in a tennis picture, Players, with Ali MacGraw. Meanwhile he returned to flying, a thrill since getting his license at age 16. Encouraged by his mother, who noted that he was the only one among his six brothers and sisters to share her love of flying, he joined the Air National Guard, earning his wings and commission in 1981. The next year, in a star-filled, Beverly Hills ceremony, he proudly donned his dress uniform to marry Olympic gold medalist Dorothy Hamill. Friends for the previous five years, the storybook lovers overcame the strain of constant separation—she was skating and he was on the tennis tour. “Growing up in the celebrity environment,” says a friend, “Dean early on learned how to play it cool, put up the walls. It was a beautiful romance, but living together did them in. He just told her he had to get on with his life.” They were divorced in 1984.

Tina Sinatra, daughter of Frank and a friend of Dean’s since childhood, recalls his supreme confidence. “There was nothing he felt he couldn’t get,” she says. “We were once in a movie theater watching Romeo and Juliet, and Dean pointed to Olivia Hussey on the screen. He said, ‘I’m going to meet her one day and marry her,’ which of course he did.”

For all his bold career forays, Dean remains a promise unfulfilled even in the eyes of many who loved him. At his engagement party to Hamill, his father remarked, “I’m proud of him. I’d be proud even if he didn’t become a jet pilot, because he’s a good boy. He just doesn’t know what he wants to be.”

Martin began acting in earnest in recent years (landing a lead, for instance, as a science whiz in the 1985 TV series Misfits of Science and as a divorce in the comedy pilot A Single Man), but flying remained a great joy. He eagerly met his Guard requirement, flying about 125 days a year. While aloft, he once said, “The high I get seeing the sun come up is so great that if I die, it would have been worth it.” The irony is that of all Dean Paul Martin’s skills, piloting a jet was his true talent. And it killed him.

This Swinger Is Dean Martin's Son, Dorothy Hamill's Man and Maybe the Next Robert Redford By Martha Smilgis

If Dean Paul Martin, 26, has a fantasy about proving himself to the old man, it would be to wind up on Dino's TV dais—but as a tennis star rather than showbiz roastee. In fact, young Dino is so gone on the game that when producer Bob (Love Story) Evans asked him to star opposite his own ex-wife Ali MacGraw in the upcoming tennis film Players, Dean hesitated. "I'm just starting to cook with my game, and I've waited years for this," he explained. "This" was a two-year contract to play in the World Team Tennis league and a global ranking of about 250th at best. Actually, he's probably won more clippings for dating skating star Dorothy Hamill than for his skill on the courts, and Evans, a onetime actor himself, persuaded Martin to test. "They liked my look with Ali," allows Dean, who then accepted the role as long as he could stay for at least half the WTT season. "Dean would rather be Björn Borg than Robert Redford," puzzles Evans, "but I think he will be Redford."

"People assume that because of my father I would naturally fall into the entertainment world," says Dean. Raised in Beverly Hills, he is the oldest of three children from Dino Martin's second of three marriages. Dean got his blond, blue-eyed looks from his mother, Jeanne Biegger, and his footwork from Pop (who boxed at 15 as Kid Crocetti and later played baseball). "He taught me smoothness, a nonpanic, play-deliberate attitude," says Dean. "He is not as out-to-lunch as his image makes him. The truth is that he is very complex. If he drank as much as everyone says he does, he would be dead." Then Dino's son adds ruefully: "I don't know him very well. We have never had a tremendous heart-to-heart conversation."

Early on, the boy suffered the trauma of being a celebrity brat, and sports became his way to prove himself to his peers. By 11, he was being coached by tennis ace Pancho Segura, now Jimmy Connors' mentor. At 13, Dean abandoned the junior tourney trail to form a teenybop rock group—Dino, Desi and Billy—with Desi Arnaz Jr. and Billy Hinsche (later with the Beach Boys). They, incredibly, had several hits (remember I'm a Fool?), but Dean still regrets the interruption. "When I was out there rocking and rolling, Connors, Gottfried and Stockton were in the semis and quarters," he laments. Later at UCLA, Dean was on the same NCAA championship squad with Connors. Then, at 19, Dean dropped out of college to marry British actress Olivia (Death on the Nile) Hussey. They were divorced within four years. "If you have to go through such a thing, we did it the best possible way," he reflects. "There is no bitterness."

A versatile jock, Dean along the way played wide receiver ("extremely wide") on the semipro Las Vegas Casinos football team. "We weren't good, but we were real dirty," he laughs. Later he was recruited by the now defunct World Football League but instead returned to college, this time at USC, for premed and more tennis. "Pancho told me in tennis I had a chance, albeit slim," he says. "In football I could be over and done in one game."

In 1974 Dean was arrested for possession of unregistered World War II guns. He pleaded guilty, explaining that he started his $30,000 collection when he was 12 but failed to keep up with registration laws. "Patty Hearst was running around then," he recalls. "They tried to link me to subversive groups. They got me because they wanted someone with a name." The collection, most of which he got back, is now crated in his mother's cellar. "There was a lot going down in Beverly Hills when I was growing up. A lot of kids didn't make it through the drug era," observes Dean, who credits athletics with saving him. Nowadays he won't even smoke grass. "It thuds me out, and tennis means more to me than getting high."

Home is a one-bedroom apartment in Phoenix, where his WTT club, the Racquets, is based. When back in L.A. he shares a Beverly Hills cliff-hanger with Desi Arnaz Jr., who introduced Dean to his lady of the last two years. "I didn't really mean to get involved with Hamill," Dean admits, "because the less distraction the better." Nevertheless, she has visited him on his Players location once for a week, and he waxes smitten. "To be No. 1 you have to have a fanatical attitude. Dorothy will be up and at the rink at 5:30 in the morning." Not exactly his father's son, Dean doesn't drink and practices tennis six fevered hours a day.

Though Bob Evans has signed him to a five-picture deal, Dean insists, "I've got to concentrate on tennis now, films later." But there are times he mulls the not-so-harsh reality: "I'm not thrilled with movies," he says, "but I can make more in a year acting than either Connors or Borg did playing."

On This Day In Dino-history: March 21, 1987

Hey pallies, likes  it was 30 long years 'go on this day,  21 March 1987, our Dino's  most beloved boypallie, Captain Dino Jr., while pilotin' a Guard F-4 Phantom fighter jet for the California Air National Guard, crashed the plane in California's San Bernardino Mountains during a snowstorm. Dino Jr. and his Weapons System Officer, Ramon Ortiz, were both killed in the crash.  Truly it is the saddest and most somber day in the life of our most beloved Dino.

Likes his incredible Daddy-o, Dino Jr. was a renaissance man of extraordinary talents.....singer, actor, tennis pro, pilot. Dino Jr. was destined to become heir apparent to the throne of our King of Cool, but likes that was so so tragicly cut short by the crash of the jet on that darkest of dark days in the life of our Dino.

The demise of Dino Jr. began the demise of our Dino himself. Our great man simply lost the will to live without his prodigy by his side. Truth be told, probably the only man that our Dino looked up to was his beloved namesake Dino Jr.

Below is a picture of Dino Jr.'s gravesite and a bit of information on Dino Jr. and the location of the grave. We thanks the pad Seeing Stars for this picture and information. Animals cast judging eyes on frisky young couple in funny VW ad

By Minda Smiley-20 March 2017

VW has rolled out a spot for its new seven-seat Atlas that shows a young couple who can’t seem to keep their hands off of each other.

Set to Dean Martin’s “The Birds and the Bees,” the spot opens with the couple getting busy in a VW Beetle. After upgrading to a Jetta to accommodate their newborn baby, the pair then steams up some windows in their new car while an owl disapprovingly looks on — a romp that ultimately leads to a second child and the purchase of a Tiguan SUV.

Three children and a dog later, the couple decides to purchase a VW Atlas to make room for their growing family. The purpose of the spot, which was created by Deutsch, is to show fans of Volkswagen that the brand has models available for all stages of life.

Todd Riddle, executive creative director at Deutsch, said that the ad also demonstrates “how people who grew up loving Volkswagens now have a new option when looking for a really big SUV.”

“Volkswagen has such a rich heritage, it’s easy to want to tell that story – so we actually try to borrow from their past very sparingly,” he said. “But we felt this was the perfect opportunity to use the brand’s strong history – since we’re literally demonstrating how the brand is growing – ultimately into the larger SUV category. Focusing on a young couple who loves the brand and watching them turn in one of their Volkswagen models to the next was a perfect parallel to a growing family of vehicles.”

The spot will air during the Final Four, Stanley Cup playoffs and other primetime programming.

ANNOUNCING THE DEAN MARTIN CENTENARY BLOGATHON!

52
If you’ve followed my blog long enough, you probably know how much I love birthdays. I always give birthday shoutouts when it pertains to a blogathon entry that I’m writing, and my Tumblr really shows my adoration for all of classic film’s brightest stars on their birthdays. So, after trying long and hard to think of a great idea for my follow-up of my blogathon celebrating the 117th birthday of Humphrey Bogart, I couldn’t resist celebrating another birthday! Still, this time I wanted to change things up a bit and celebrate something more important. When I found out that the iconic Dean Martin is celebrating the big 100 this year on June 7, I knew that he was the perfect person to honor in the grandest of fashions.
Few people have ever achieved the level of legendary star status that Dean Martin has over so many forms of entertainment. From his film career that spanned four decades to his discography that includes over sixty albums (including compliation and those released after his passing in 1995) and memorable hits like “That’s Amore” and “Everybody Loves Somebody”, Dean continues to be a household name all over the world. His long-running television shows, “The Dean Martin Show” and “Dean Martin’s Celebrity Roast”, allowed him to reach even higher levels of notoriety, as did his on and offscreen associations with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., and the rest of the infamous Rat Pack. However, few of Martin’s accomplishments measure up to his partnership with the incomparable Jerry Lewis, which resulted in sixteen films and a lot of laughs. All of these fantastic achievements and so much more is why I’ve decided to celebrate his life and career.
RULES
  1. I am allowing TWO duplicates for each subject, but Dean has an extremely significant and diverse filmography with nearly seventy films to his credit, so I would still like to see as many different topics being written about as possible.
  2. Anything relating to Dean Martin is up for grabs! You could write about his partnership with Jerry Lewis, your favorite song of his, his lesser-known westerns, his many television appearances, or even his associations with the likes of Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. The possibilities are endless!
  3. Once you think of a topic, please leave a comment with your blog’s name, your blog’s link, and your subject (include the year if you’re choosing a movie).
  4. Once you’ve been approved, I’d appreciate it if you help me spread the word! Please take one of my banners from below and put it somewhere on your blog, and make sure to tell your friends. I’d love to see as many participants as possible!
